I am planning on doing a (virtual) trip around the world with the PMDG 737 .. and take lots of SCREENSHOTS in the process! :)It may be crazy or it may be a waste of time ... but why the heck not? FS looks so damn stunning with the new hardware I just bought it'd be a shame not putting it to use! Here's a first idea about the plan:http://www.thepilotlounge.com/images/aviat...rld/preview.jpgAnd here's the itinerary:Start at Newark, NJ to St John's, Canada 1160 statute miles. To Prins Christian Sund, Greenland, 930 sm.To Reykjavik, Iceland 752 smTo Dublin, Ireland 931 smTo Nice, France 905 smTo Berlin, Germany 671 smTo Budapest, Hungary 430 smTo Tessalonika, Greece 514 smTo Ir…

I have recently seen a number of posts about take off procedures, TOGA, capturing the ILS etc. The post that prompted this was relating to the aircraft not keeping to 250kts below 10,0000.Well as it happens there is a useful document on the Bill Bulfer FMC Guide site that answers some of these questions. The link is:http://www.fmcguide.com/media/profiles.pdfI would also recommend his FMC and Cockpit companion books for anyone that isn't familiar with them.

I am experimenting within the FMC of the 737 NG and built my first flightplan ever with a SID and a STAR.It's the tutorial KDEN-KLAX route but I did it slightly differently. I went to ROUTEFINDER flight planning services and did a query for an airway KDEN-KLAX. It returned me the following:KDEN SID DBL J60 BLD J107 HEC STAR KLAX I went into the FMC and after entering KDEN and KLAX as the departure and arrival points, I entered page 2 of RTE and entered DBL; BLD and J60; HEC and J107. Then I went to DEP/ARR and selected a departure runway for KDEN and a SID. I played around with the SIDs on the ND since they went in all kinds of directions until I got ROCKI4 that went …

Nice flight, 5600nm or so, 100% fuel landed with a good few 1000lbs to spare. Lovely dawn weather when I boarded and set up the plane in London. Yet up north over the Norway and Barrents sea it was thunder and lots of cloud. The sunset over siberia was nice, as I turned south east and the dawn almost immediately started to rise again in front of me, as I neared the Eastern coast of Asia and Japan. Weather was fine in Japan until I hit the smog and vis dropped to almost nothing. OK for landing, but no sight seeing on the way in.I think this is about the limit of the BBJ as far as I can tell, without lowering the safety/planned landing fuel to less than 8000lbs.

Well I downloaded a Trial version of FS Nav today and it really adds another dimension to flying the PMDG. It makes great flight plans, gives you a moving map diplay in the cockpit which you can follow as you are flying and automatically creates the flight plans for the FMC. The flight plans are much better than the stock plans that FS9 gives you and you can add or subtract anything you want. Also has a bunch of Sids and Stars that you can chose from an a up to date database.

For some reason I always seem to exceed 250kts on take-off prior to reaching 10,000ft.. even when the FMC is programmed and says /250 until 10,000. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Here is the scenario: TOGA, flaps cleanup, VNAV (still flying manually, auto-thrust still on), and then I exceed 250kts... It seems I never get out of the TOGA mode even with VNAV engaged.. The only way I correct this is by hitting the SPD button and punch in the 250, or LVL CHG. Then I am in SPEED mode holding at 250kts.. This can't be the correct way to do this?Thanks!-Kevin

WOW! I am amazed! The PMDG guys did an incredible job with this. The PMDG 737 indeed has FULL AUTOLAND.It will intercept the localizer, descend, flare and touchdown. All by itself. It's freaky to say the least! I didn't even realize that these guys at PMDG implemented Autoland!!! WOW!!!!I was eyeing the manual earlier and it mentioned that if you engage both APs for the approach the plane will use autland. I literally did a double take on that one!Great job they did!!I just tried at runway 22R at Newark and it worked like a charm. All I did was just disengage autothrottle and kill the throttle over the threshold ... and the plane landed itself.AP disengaged automatically at …

Hi,On my copy of the PMDG 737, cabin altitude climbs too high. The cabin pressure gauge indicates about 11 to 12 thousand feet at typical cruise altitudes of FL310+. On most commercial airliners cabin altitude shoud be around 8000 feet. I have both PACKS on, center isolation valve set to AUTO, both engine bleed air valves on, APU bleed off (when airborne). I have the correct altitude set for cruise and landing, as well as the outflow valve set to AUTO. I seem to get adequate duct pressure indications, just too high of a cabin altitude displayed on the cabin pressure gauge.I think the cabin pressure was working okay with the base install of the 737 and began to hav…

Recently, I was looking over some shots on Airliners.net and remembered, some 737 have HUDS. I was curious if there was an upgrade, or future plans for a HUD to use with 737 packages?AJ LongResearch and Marketing VP - Hyperion Airwayshttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgVATSIM Miami ARTCC Air Traffic ControllerMicrosoft Windows XP Home Edition

I wanted to see what it would be like to have the 737 AI traffic, use the PMDG model. Well, I tested it, and I found it to work VERY VERY well. And to boot it didn't have that bad of FR hit either! This just shows how well built PMDG does there aircraft! Thanks PMDG!

Hi I was wondering if it would be a stupid question to ask if I could ride in the cockpit during flight because I have seen pictures allover airliners.net of people saying...thanks to the crew for a wonderful flight in the cockpit...or something like that. So Im gessing they are passengers. Thanks. Tyler

Hello people !! Well, when i put my ZWF 102.3 on my -600 the VR was 146 kts is this posible!!!? I think that the VR should be 12x kts. My left and right wing tank was 75 %, the center tank was empty. What u guys sayJose NavarroAhh also when I pressed VNAV a message says that "Unable CRZ alt" also "VNAV disconnect" but if u got to CRZ page in the FMC the OPT was FL 354 and my FL was 260 :-hmmm

Noticed one thing on today's flight. I was flying behind one aircraft online on VATSIM for a while, and was talking to the guy. He reported that his FL was 370 and I was 390. And we both had altimeter set to 1013 Standard. So I guess, TCAS should report -2000ft difference. But instead, it reported -2400ft difference. Why?

I was vectored onto the ILS at BOS today and intercepted around 20+ miles out. They had me at 1800 feet until intercept. I hit the APP button and the next thing I knew I was climbing up to meet the Glideslope and almost up to 4,000 feet. I thought that whatever altitude you had sent in the "altitude window" was supposed to be held until intercept. Am I doing something wrong?
