Before i load W7 and then load FSX im wanting to know if how to do it correctly. ive looked at the NICKN's tune up site and im a little confused.my system :2600k CPUgigabyte MB8 gigs of memory.1TB and 360HD800 watts PSh60 water cooled.what would be the best way to load FSX , i see that many are using two operating systems xp64 and W764 at least from nickn site .But before i follow his advice im wanting to use one OS W7, should i put FSX on one drive (1 TB ) and put the operating system on the smaller 360 HD.does that sound like a good idea.im gearing this computer for FSX only.So before i follw NICK:S advice am i going the right direction.Thanks..............Robert

I have had no problems with FSX until today when I tried to install a whole load of AI airctaft and the AITC Programme.I have uninstalled the lot but still get the dreaded 'Fatal Error' message when I start FSX.I have deleted the traffic.bgl files from WOAI and I think I have removed all WOAI files.I have also ran it as Windows XP and Administrator. I do not like the look of downloading the .dll file mentioned in other forums as that causes issues in other Windows programmes.I do not think I can face uninstalling everything and starting again!Does anyone have any ideas?Windows 7 - 64 Bit // AMD6990 4gb Graphics // 16GB Ram // i7 2600 - OC 4.8ghz

I hope this is deemed appropiate in this forum heading. From viewing the "Flyaway Simulation " site contents it appears not far frome Beta stage, system requirements quoted etc. Am I the only one being curious about installation procedures, program and addons. We all can recall the learning curve when Win 7 appeared on the scene ref' the pitfalls with FSX installed into the default folder and addons which were "associated with"the program!Has anyone got info' on this or maybe the topic has seen the light of day which I have missed?regardsanamiv

Hi all,I have FSX running nice finally with an OC 2600k @ 5.0 & W7 64bit with 16g of ram. However I still get the dreaded OOM flying the PMDG MD11, the NGX dose not seem so mem hungry. Using Task Manager and the processes TAB I notice the Memory usage climbs slowly until around 2.5g then I get the OOM.I thought 64bit should allow at least up to 4g. Is there something wrong with my version of W7, it seems like it thinks its a 32bit version.thxdw

Hi there,I used to run FSX no worries on my old 32-bit XP machine. I'm going to be upgrading my computer and along with it I'm moving to Win 7 64 bit. I also still want to play FSX.Can you install and play FSX in Windows 7 64 bit without any issues? Otherwise I was going to use an old hard drive to load up XP and just use that for playing FSX.I've heard that it is better to play FSX in Windows 7 64 bit as you get the benefits of things like DX11 and greater than 4GB RAM. Are there any tips and tricks I should be aware of?Any help would be greatly appreciated...Cheers,bozdee

This may seem a very basic question for you but please bear with me. I spend all my time on a Mac and only keep a MS partition to run FSXNow I have W7 32 bit version installed and want to install the 64 bit version. From what I can tell I need to wipe the drive and start from scratch to do thisMy questions relate to the various addons and other third party s/w I have on the HD. What is the best way to copy those for reinstall later? Just drag the programs over to a backup disk before wiping? Something else? Reinstall everything from scratch (if i can find all my records for purchase to re download? From the old days I seem to recall that MS files are sorta broken up into a…

I upgraded my pc two months ago. I reinstalled FS9 and FSX and all the addons sucessfully.I admit it was a long hard process under Windows 7 32 bit.i've been running both versions without a hitch until today,.Out of memory warnings appear in both fs9 and fsx.The only new thing I have installed that could be related was GE Pro last night. In GEP I ran the texture installer.Today the oom errors started.I did a defrag, registry fix, disk cleanup but the problem persisted. The windows error report is as follows: iles that help describe the problem:C:\Users\Eytan\AppData\Local\Temp\WER5AD.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xmlC:\Users\Eytan\AppData\Local\Temp\WER31FC.tmp.appcompat.txtC:\U…

Hi,I urgently need your help folks,Getting error messages constantly when trying to run any programs. It only started today, but restoring to an earlier time or even going with the backup made no difference. Makes FSX impossible to fly with the interuptions. It says:C:Windowssystem32sfc.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the progrm again using the original installation media or contact your system administer or software vendor for support. Says the same thing about C:/Windows/SysWow64/sfc.dll. The computer is almost unusable with all of this.Obviously there is major corruption of the windows program. Is there a way to have…

Greetings;I've two WIN 7 PCs linked in a home network via a switch. All the network settings seem OK and I can see the name of PC1 in the network section PC2 and vice versa. When you share a folder that has been created on the on the main C: Drive, is it normal to NOT be able to see this folder on the C: Drive of the other computer? I can see the folder in the network section of both computers. If I right click and select share with home network, I can see the folder in the home network section on each computer. BUT, I never can see the folder on BOTH C: Drives. Is this normal??Thank you, Iain

Greetings all,After reading about several problems with the way Windows handles items in their "program files" folders, I am trying to move the FSX folder out of there. Basically, I want to move the MSFSX folder from C:\program files (x86)\MSFSX to C:\MSFSX, by cutting and pasting from one to the other. However, after clicking on Administrator Permission, I keep getting this error msg: " The action cannot be completed because file or folder open in another program....close file or folder and try again". I can't find which file/folder they are refering to, and I even tried rebooting my computer and trying again. That didnt work. Any ideas?I have Windows 7, 64bit.Many thank…

I asked this question at the TOPIC. Migrating FS9 from XP 32Bit to Windows 7 64Bit but have not received a reply as yet so I will ask here. I recently got a new computer W7 64 bit upgrade from 7 happy years with W/ XP.. Before reading posts here I installed FS9 in the default loaction Program Files(x86) and now have seen it is a no-no. I also installed a few of my old craft- the easy ones-- Carenado. Cal Classic, couple of POSKYs..Can I still move FS9 and those add-ons to a different folder? After which I will probably have more questions. :>)) Thanks, BIll

I'm doing a clean re-install of Win7-64 and will only be using the system for simming (mainly FSX). Will disabling the "Windows Search" feature free up system resources or is it an essential feature? I'm thinking of the "Indexing Service" in WinXP which I always disabled, it seemed more like bloatware!

As a new user of Windows 7 and an overclocked processor, I would like some advice on whether to set my power option to Balanced or Performance. I understand that the balanced option will still allow the processor to ramp up when needed. I am concerned that using the performance option may shorten the life of the processor chip. Any thoughts? What do you do? Thanks!Airbus
