When I try to run FSX gold on anything but the most basic graphic set ups(eg 1280x768 &15fps) my machine crashes completely, no errors, no blue screen, just straight to a re-boot. So not really a CTD and not triggered by any particular action like activating a menu. This has never happened before on this machine which has been happily running other demanding tasks for over a year. It would be nice to be able to run full screen (2560x1440) and preferably multi screen with some decent detail levels.I’ve Googled a lot and tried swapping uiautomationcore.dll, re-installing to a separate HDD, but neither have made any difference. FSX goldWindows 7 64bit (fully patched)Int…

I bought an SSD drive for the express purpose of speeding up my FSX load time. I keep reading that people do this. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to do it. I define and installation path to the SSD drive but the install doesn't put anything but fonts on that drive and everything else goes to the C:program files (x86). Is there any way to install to the SSD or did I waste my money? Thanks for the help.

I run Windows 7 64-bit and am about to buy my first joystick.I'm considering the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (good beginner's stick, by all accounts) and the Saitek Cyborg X stick.I've read numerous posts which conflict on whether these sticks will run in Windows 7.As they both have USB connectivity, some state that W7 recognises them immediately, so no problem. Others report recognition problems. So I'm a bit confused!I looked at the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center for the Saitek and it lists a whole string of Saitek hardware as compatible but not the Cyborg X.The other slightly confusing thing is that, if they are USB sticks - which should be recognised - what is t…

I only just noticed the existence of this forum! (Been abroad for several months, so some excuse!). I last month ordered a new PC (specs almost as per my forum signature below) and had no end of problems, not least with Windows 7 & and FS, so now that I have a replacement PC being delivered tomorrow (specs as per signature), I guess I am going to be a frequent visitor to this new (not so new by now perhaps) forum. Expect lots of posts, if my past experience is anything to go by!! (I will search the forum first!!).Thanks AVSIM for starting this forum up, an excellent idea..Martin

Hi,I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my computer and I'm on the process of reinstalling all my software. While trying to find a way to remove the small arrows from the shortcuts icons, I found a site that offered a quick way of doing so by the means of a small registry file merge.I ran the registry merge file but didn't work the way I expected (I think this file was meant for Vista and not Windows 7) and ran the included "restorearrow.reg" file and got the small arrows back.Unfortunately this created another problem. When I delete a file from a folder, that file still shows in that folder. I have to close and reopen the folder again to make it dissapear. The same h…

I'm trying to install FSX onto Win7 on the new system I just built.Near the end of the install proccess I get this error: 0x800040702 Failed to load DLL: GameuxInstallHelperI've tried restaring the install and it skips through the install and stalls at the same spot. The files are in the folder I clicked on the fsx.exe (in Programfilesx86) and it let me register and that worked but afterwards it stopped with error Unable to create cache directory:C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX\ScenerycacheIs there anyway to fix the problem?

Gentlemen;I'm running Win 7 64 bit. I use Freetrack (with great success) with a Microsoft 1000 web cam (not exact model number, but hey). Freetrack is located in my "C:/program Files x86" folder. I'm not sure where the driver for the web cam is located, but in all likelihood on the C drive. My problem is when I make a change to the camera settings via Freetrack it will revert back to the default settings the next time I start my Freetrack session. I also have this problem with FSinn in that it won't keep my setting for which microphone device to use. FSinn is also located in my "C:/program files x86" folder. What do I have to do to take back control of these programs? A…

Good evening :-)thanks to a guy in a German FS Forum, i did read about DreamScenes for Windows 7, which is a great way to enhance your desktop (using videos as Wallpapers). Here you can find an article: http://www.chip.de/news/DreamScene-fuer-Windows-7-Videos-als-Wallpaper_40770816.htmlUnfortunately, it's in German but you should be able to find the Downloads.First create a System Restore point, just in case you don't like it.Win7 32 users: http://www.chip.de/downloads/DreamScene-fuer-Windows-7-32-Bit_40791573.htmlWin7 64 users: http://www.chip.de/downloads/DreamScene-fuer-Windows-7-64-Bit_40791067.htmlWin7 64 users have to:copy the DreamScene.dll to "c:\windows\system32"c…

Microsoft is going to once again sell the windows 7 family packs which give you 3 licenses for home computers. I currently run Vista 64 bit and want to upgrade to windows 7. is there and difference between using the upgrade with a currently loaded FSx setup versus wiping the HD clean and doing the full install. I just did a full install of the OS and ALL my FSX and add-ons 3 weeks ago.

hello, i have windows 7 64 bit OS, and was wondering if you could switch from windows 7 to a older OS like windows 2000. I am trying to do this because you can not get multiple displays working in fsx , well you can but i am trying to extend the view from one screen to another. and you cant do that on windows 7 or vista. i am asking if you are able to do this because i dont want to corrupt any files , and want to make sure if it is possible.thanksRyan

Hi,occasionally i got a BSOD with the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stop error and a system module. Fortunately, i did find a hotfix which actually solved my problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979444/en-usOf course this hotfix won't be the solution for anyone who gets a similar BSOD but maybe it's helpful for others too and that's why i'm posting it here.

Hello all and thanks for looking at this post to help me. I've been running Windows XP Pro (32 bit) for years now and finally made the choice to upgrade my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) due to many people on forums saying it was the best OS for FSX. I also wanted to take advantage of Direct X 10 and more memory without having to do the USERVA trick to get XP to see more than the 2 gig I had installed. Now before I explain the situation, I think it would be best to give you some details about my rig/setup. I am running the Intel Core2Duo E6850 (3.0 GHz) on an ASUS mobo and have 4 gig DDR2 ram along with an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked (512MB onboard) and Windows…

After a weekend of trying to install Windows 7 64bit with countless blue screens of death, removing hardware to find the culprit (bad memory stick) I got it to install. Then spent the week re-installing all my FSX stuff and learning my way around admin right, taking ownership of files, compatibility modes, etc, I got FSX up and working. All I can say is WOW (not World of Warcraft, that's my wife's thing)!!!!No more OOMs, very very few stutters, silky smooth flights. To those thinking about going to Windows 7 64bit, it's worth the effort.

Hello,Found this solution indirectly from various posts on this forum. Hopefully, this could be stickied, to save people the pain of trying to find the sollution by themselves -- that is after other peolpe have also tried it and confirmed it to be working. I have tried this fix myself, and it worked.I did not create this sollution, all credit goes to "gkair2," from the Microsoft Technet forum. I am merely informing others with problems of the fixSide effectsThere is only one reported side effect with this solution: "The only problem I have had by deleting the UIautomationcore.dll file is that if I exit FSX completely while in flight my windows desktop becomes dysfunctiona…

Hello everyone,After being rather inactive in flighsimming for a good 2 years, I just ordered FSX Gold edition (with the add-on pack plus FSX deluxe). I am really smiling now and feel like the good ol' days are back (soon, once I receive and install FSX).I have read many articles in this Win7 OS forum but I wanted to ask in any case, the obvious question just to get some "expert" experienced opinions. I have never used FSX and currently use FS2004 on WinXP pro (32-bit). I currently have a dual-boot PC with WinXP pro 32, and Win 7 Pro 64 (OEM).So my questions are:(1) In the end, which OS is better, more stable, less bug free and fastest performance for FSX, Win 7 64-bit…

In 1995 the cold war ended ,and another type of war started , it lasted till now.in 1995 everything stoped , jobs ,banks ,airlines, govenements, inustry , agriculture ...etc.My concern here is the Banking Systems , around the world (localy and internationaly). Now with windows , thier claim is , that you buy WIndows , pay using any mean, recieve the product , register for support , just like any product , specificaly computer products (software and hardware)And it (microsoft) won't accept cracked windows ,online and offline. Now As I said , unless the world (we) solve this problem , the banking system ,or even cash (banknote) problem ,means provide it to to be used ,so w…
