The Win7 OS Forum

As simmers migrate to Win 7, we are sure there are going to be numerous questions regarding the use of FS and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it.

HelloUpgraded to W7. Installed FSX and FS9 on "c" drive. So far so good. Tried to install Acceleration to FSX and nothing happens. No auto-install, nothing! Removed FS9 and tried again. Nothing! All drives are OK and the DVD drive new and installs everything else (MS Word, etc). UAC off.Any thoughts?Regards,Ed

I loaded FSX and it activated fine. After loading Acceleration, the Activation routine would fail giving me the 1-80004005 error code. FSX would kick me out after 30 minutes. I Googled the problem and came up with the solution that has you remove any keys in the registery except "PartMgr". Activation then worked fine. After completing this, I reinstalled the keys in the registry that I deleted. Upon rebooting, Windows will go into a loop and will never boot. I have to restore using a partition image I created before hand. I've tried this several different ways and the results seem to be consistant. I cannot register Acceleration. Has anyone heard of a different …

hello everybodyi'm a hardcore flight-simmer since fs2 and i want to move to fsx now. therefore i'm planning to buy a new notebook very soon. why a notebook for a hardcore simmer you may ask. the reason is that i live in a small country in africa since two years. i'm planning a trip to my homecountry (switzerland) in may where i can buy computers for about half the price as here in africa. i can't take a full size desktop computer with me to my african country without paying 100% duty for it at the airport. therefore it's a notebook.my questions are concerning the hardware, more specifically the processor. as you can imagine i have a lot of add-ons that i use. my favourite…

HelloI bought PFE Deluxe this week after looking for a more realistic ATC experience. Big bummer: I can't get it to work :(My PC is running Windows 7 (32bits). Flight Simulator 2004 runs as normal user and I didn't check any compatibility options. It's installed together with Real Environment 2004, Ground Environment Pro, Ultimate Terrain, Zinertek WaterFX and Wilco Airbus Volume I.I also use FSUIPC 3.98a (latest version, registered)First I started Flight Simulator 2004 and created a low altitude IFR flightplan from LFQQ (Lesquin) to EBLG (Li

I've switched to Win7 x64 now and am in the phase of re-installing everything. Yesterday I came across something where I'd need an explanation from an expert:I seem to have a problem with the calibration of my 3-axis Saitek throttle quadrant (my MD-11 loads with engines 1 and 2 spooling higher than no. 3, thus forcing the plane into a right turn on the runway). So, I went into the calibration for the device in FSX.What I see there is a rather "generic" depiction of the devices' axis. Two axis (the ones used for engine 1 and 2 in my MD-11) steer a cross in the calibration dialog, the 3rd axis is "identified" as an axis there and a bar is displayed for it. What a coincidenc…

In XP, when you navigated to a folder and or file on your HD, the complete path to that folder or file was displayed in the address bar of the navigation screen. The complete path was easy to copy and paste into a file or even into a post in a forum. This was very useful when advising someone where a particular file might be found on an FS setup. In Win 7 you do get a "address bar" when navigating, but the path is dis-jointed and connected by arrows. This "path" cannot be copied. However, if you Right click, just to the Right of the displayed path, you will get a drop down menu which does allow the path to be copied (as text) to the clipboard and then pasted into whatever …

Hi all.. I hope that you can help me to figure out what might be the best course for me at this time. I have a 5 year old custom built (but locally built) gaming PC running XP. I have both FS9 and FSX on it, with PMDG and Level D equipment installed. I often fly with Active Sky loaded, an ACARS for my Flight Sim virtual, and several other support things running in background... Yesterday, while flying PMDG's 744 in FSX, the frustrations got to me in terms of restaring the system, just to get it going. And I am wondering ... is now the time?I am considering spending about $1500 or so on one of the gaming PC's available from several sites, and would appreciate some tho…

Since I went to WIN 7 I have noticed a depreciation in the performance of my Imagine Software addons ie KCLT, TJSJ and others. Writing to the developer they stated that the addons were developed under Vista and suggested downloading new drivers for the video card. As the card is a brand new Radeon HD 5770 I did not think that was the issue. Any one else have these same issues?Richard Churchill

Same PC I used for FS9 with XP. Frame rates often exceeded 40FPS. all the way up past 60FPS. NOW, with Win 7, I can't get the frame rate above 30 in the same places I flew when using XP. I've got a 6800 Nvidia card, Athlon 64 3200+ CPU. FS9 worked great in XP. The video driver I'm using is the file named 191.07.... from the Nvidia site. I tried using Nhancer and Rivatuner (separately) to overclock the GPU, but they didn't help.

My pc has 64 bit win7 home edition installed on an i7 920 based system. When I first boot the pc the (CH Products) joystick and pedals work fine. If I don't use the pc for 30 minutes the pc goes into 'sleep' mode. When it recovers from sleep the joystick and pedals do not work. If I pull the USB plugs for the two devices and then plug them back in again they come back to life. Does anyone know how I can prevent this happening please? It's not a huge problem but I usually only remember to reconnect the plugs after starting FS and I then need to close FS and reopen it again before FS will see them and use them.Thanks,Paul15 miles north of EGKK

  20. Hello,I have a Loitech G51 5.1 speaker system on my PC which is great except for 1 small problem. Every time I switch the computer off at the wall socket the speakers 'forget' the bass volume settings then when I switch the PC back on they revert back to the default settings which has far too much bass. This means I have to manually adjust the bass setting on the speakers every time I switch my PC on.With Windows XP this wasn't a problem because there was an adjustment for the bass/treble settings in the Windows sound mixer so I just turned the bass volume down in Windows and left the speakers on their default setting. However, I've been unable to find these bass/trebl…

Hello I have discovered this - very disappointing in my opinion - issue: AC2004 hangs FS9.1 - no cd crack used. Screen blacks out and then FS9.1 crashes. I have 'activated' AC2004 by contacting the developer. maybe is a driver/display problem but I'm not sure.If any body either has a similar problem either his/her AC2004 work as advertised under win7 I would appreciateto leave a note. F1 view dll has no problem by the way.....TIA SamWin7 32bit - fs9.1 - ATI 5750 Cat 10.2
