hi,It seems that there is a major sound problem with windows 7. I bought a laptop PC and the sound was awful; random crackling noise while playing music. The retailer gave me another one: same problem. I updated the sound card drivers; same problem. I searched the net for help and found out that the crackling sound is a widespread issue. I have changed to W7 and find it very obstructing.I have tried to add Nimitz-Ike/Carriers 2/Tracks no problem.They appear in FSX. But for the life of me I cannot download any aircraft.My procedure is to go to Programme Files (x86)/sim objects/aircraft. Place aircraft in that file and then Grant Admin full control, the same with Sound/Effects etc. Nothing appears in FSX. All I get is F14 initialsation failure.I have the addons/window,I get the aircraft carriers,position,start stop but no aircraft on deck.Very frustrating.Can anybody help?????? :( Zorba1 :(

Hi,If running a Win7/FSX system with 2 HDs, what would be the most efficient use of storage space? Would placing the OS and whatever in one drive and FSX in the other be a good arrangement ? What would you put what where ?Thanks,Jack

I am in the process of reinstalling my whole FS set up on a new PC. The new PC has W7 Home Prem 64 bit and is based on a Core i7 system. The system is really fast, and obviously runs FS2004 with no problems. However I am finding that installing new add-ons, whether this be sceneries or aircraft, is a painfully slow process. Extracting files from a zip file takes forever, and you can watch maybe only 1-2 files being extracted PER SECOND!!! I am getting a similar situation with add-ons that install through an .exe file. This may be OK for a small add-on, but for something like 9 Dragons' Kai Tak it took something like 45 mins which is absolutely ridiculous for a system of t…

Hi guys i am banging my head on this one i have win7 64bit and it has been freezing up just about every flight. i have tried all the MS ideas like clean up the programs in the back ground and created a new user and gave it admin rights. what happens most of the time is as you can see on the picture when i got to say map i get whats in the picture. hope someone can help..

Everytime you install a program on Windows 7 run it in Admin mode When adding scenery to FS2004/FSX when on the scenery select dialog/explorer prompt. select the file you want and pres the up direc button and the scenery should appear in the scenery libery. will add more on friday when i return home.

Is it just my rig or has anybody else had this happen? Everything works great for me with FSX and W7 except for one thing, when I go to save a flight plan I can only use the TAB and ENTER keys, I can't click SAVE with the mouse like I always use to or FSX freezes. What's that about ? Does anyone know or even heard of this? I cannot for the life of me figure this one out. Any help would be appreciated. I've searched several forums but no mention of this problem. Otherwise FSX with Acceleration is great on my new I7 965 @ 3.20 GHz rig with the Nvidia GTX 295 video card. I've got 6MB of ram.Lee

Hi.Upgraded to Win7 from XP everything installed OK. I now find I can't get the FPS window to show when I press Shift=Z nor can I get W to work, or Shift+ Enter or Shift + Backspace to raise or lower the seat. Any ideas how to fix this?John.

I have a good system: I7 965 3.20GHz 6 MB ram W7 64 bit and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 295. FSX actually performs very well on my system. I have all the standard addons, NHancer, GEX, FEX, I use UT2 and have acquired most of the great sceneries out there. The one glitch is when saving a flight plan FSX crashes. Is this a Windows 7 thing? Does anyone have any ideas?Lee :(

Currently using Vista 32 bit. I want to install Win 7 32 bit. This will be a full install, not an upgrade, on one drive particition C:. How does the new OS install work?Do I need to un-install Vista first or does Win 7 installer take care of that?What happens to my existing installed programs? Does Win 7 know they exist and add them to Start/All Programs, the Desktop, and Explore?

I noticed that when my aircraft (Lear 45) is sitting on the ground, the eyepoint commands work fine.However, when I am in flight the eyepoint commands no longer work in the 2D cockpit but they still work in the VC cockpit.Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi,When I load FSX, I get a message in my toolbar that my system is now turning to the basic color set as the application is not capable of running the genuine W7 colorset.Hmm, well ok, nothing else happens and all runs well. Still I wonder, can I fix that?I am especially interested since I notice that switching to programs running in the background, the screen needs a sec or two. Recently I have added FSCommander to help me forget FSNavigator and it is a great tool. But it has difficulties when I switch from FSX to it. Now I can imagine it uses the true W7 color set so that might be the cause. Also, when returning to FSX, the screen is back in windowed mode, although it …

I feel like an idiot for not being able to figure this out, but Microsoft is not explicitly stating what software you must have in order to use an "upgrade" copy of Windows 7 anywhere that I can find. It appears to me that you need to upgrade from Windows Vista and Windows XP users will need to by a "full" copy of Windows 7. I just can't find this clearly laid out anywhere. So, that's the question. I'm running Windows XP Home 32 bit. Can I use an "upgrade" version or do I need a "full" version of Windows 7? Also, I could get a student discount on the Windows 7 Profesisonal Upgrade. If I can use an upgrade package, can I mix the XP Home I already have and the 7 Prof…

im having trouble getting fs9.1 to work with my w7 x64. most of the problems so far deal with video issues.for example it wont allow me to change from 2d to 3d properly in window mode . It just plain does not run in window mode on any levelIn 2d pushing key s does not cycle views with out corruptionit looks good in full view 3d but thats about it.I was hoping for betterthoughts Peter

Just installed Win7 x64, followed by FS9, and am having a problem with the cursor changing from white to black. I run FS9 in full screen mode, and whenever I press Alt+Tab to start up ActiveSky, for example, and then switch back to FS9, the cursor becomes black. A workaround is to right click anywhere on the screen, and then not select anything from the dropdown menu, and then it's fixed, but it's slightly annoying. Anyone else have this issue and know what's causing it? Thanks.Kyle
