As you may know, in XP you could span your display across two monitors. Vista took this away. Is it back isn W7?Bob

I've just ordered a new mobo, cpu and RAM, as my ageing machine was just playing up too much. I have also pre-ordered Windows 7, thinking, "That's fine, I'll just download the Release Candidate people were talking about, and then put on the full thing later." It seems I can't do that, because MS has stopped the downloads, which is fine and their perogative, but is there any other place to get it from? Is it permissible for people who did download the RC or RTM to share their download, and if so can anyone help me please?I'm trying to avoid the pain of installing XP again now, and then redoing the whole thing in October.Cheers,Mark

Hi,I'd like to pre order Win7 but sorry but I'm a bit lost..I have the RC version installed on my system as unique OS (I own the genuine Windows Vista Ultimate DVDs but got rid of the OS from my computer).1) Can I install the RTM version over the RC without having to reinstall FSX and the other applications?2) If the answer is yes, will it possible with both the Full version and the Upgrade version?3) If I purchase the Upgrade version and once need to do a fresh reinstall on a new HD, will it be possible or will I need the Full version? Thanks in advance for your answers :--)

Topic says it all! I have a normal cursor under XP64, under W7-64, it turns to black if using Aero cursor. If I user a normal white one, it doesn't. I already guessed it has something to do with Aero and that it should be disabled (desktop composition off), but is there another possibility?

I am about to fresh install Win7 Professional in a new hard drive. I can select between W7 32 bit or 64 bit. I will use this hard drive mainly for FSX but I will also use a bunch of other programs (Acrobat, Office 2007, CorelDrawX4, etc.).I read many times that the windows 64 bit is the way to go but I don

I've purchased a Sony Vaio laptop VGN-Fw4 Series PCG-3H1M & I want to install the 747-400 FSX simulator.I've read the Technical Spec details regarding the Vista problems & I contacted Sony about a downgrade to XP. Their Tech Help department indicate that they don't have drivers for XP for this model and that a downgrade to XP is not possible. Any comments? The Sony Vaio purchase offered a free upgrade to Windows 7. The beta version for the new Microsoft Operating System is now available but Sony are again unwilling to assist with drivers until the official launch. Is it likely that the Windows 7 operating system will cure the faults displayed if running in Vista?

Though I'm sure there's no official support for this, I'll be on my own in doing it, yada yada yada is there any reason the JS-41 wouldn't work in Windows 7 RC1 64bit? I've heard that many Win XP programs that never worked in Vista work just fine in Windows 7 including many flightsim addons, and I'd like to switch to a 64 bit OS, but hate Vista with a passion. Is anyone here running Win7 64bit that can comment on if they've had any compatibility issues with FSX addons? Has the JS-41 been tested with Windows 7 RC1 at all? (I'm aware its still technically a beta product so any testing would be preliminary, no guaranteed results etc.)Anyhow any helpful response would be appre…

Hello forum,i have a problem running FSX on a windows 7 system. A month ago i bought a new computer and i installed windows 7 on it. Everything went fine untill i installed FSX. The installation of FSX and running it was without problems untill i installed some addons. I installed for instance PIC and PMDG and all had similar problems. Panels were not working, they appeared in the screen but the switches wouldn`t work at all. Loading default FS planes was without problems but when i load addon planes the screens is meshed up, i can count every pixel. Some sceneries are crasing the FS etc. I do not know the source of the problem but since all the problems are graphic relat…

Updated Vista 64 to Windows 7 64 (RTM):My observations:- the compatiblity advisor beta update flagged my TrackIR 3 (running on V4 software) and my A/V solution as incompatible. It was incorrect on TrackIR (works fine), and correct on the A/V (Trend Micro). They have a beta for Windows 7 that I had to hunt down and obtain. - update ran in about 3 hours (or less, I left it alone and went to see a movie).- first login following the update took a very long time, about 5 minutes. Second login about 1 minute. Third login about 20 seconds. File cleanup I suppose.- could not run any 3D games on the NVidia driver it installed, downloaded the latest and it worked. The sympto…

Just a quick post to mention to anyone that's been running a large tweaked FSX install on Win 7 RC,if you don't want to do a clean install for Win 7 RTM and FSX right away, you can use the cversion.ini change to allow for an in place upgrade.I did one yesterday and it upgraded fine.Only had to reinstall the 182.50 video driver and a jMicron esata driver. All programs, addons, etc., work so far as expected, no reactivation of FSX needed either.Update instructions : http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/04/0...experience.aspxI'm sure a clean install is best when I have the time and motivationbut when I started making a list of everything for FSX I neededto install and tweak,…

Hi all,Fantastic forum as always. Just wondering if anyone has come across my problem to now, and what the fixes are if any yet?I recently downloaded the latest pre release version of Windows 7 and installed it (I work in the IT industry so need to keep up with the new products - thought I'd try this out). But coming across something I cannot for the life of me, get my head around.Whenever I have tried to install FSX on my build the whole OS simply hangs, crashes and needs a hard reboot. Then it hangs more and is very slow to to start up. Wanting safe mode and repair options etc.I've read some posts on other sites (after a lot of searching) that say Windows 7 administra…

I'm just set up a dual boot WIN7RC on its separate HDD. Is there a way I can install FSX to the WIN7 drive but modify the installation so I can have it refer back to my WIN XP installation for scenery files, addon aircraft, etc? I'd like to avoid duplicating most of my very large FSX installation on the WIN 7 drive if it isn't necessary. I suspect some modifications to the new fsx.cfg file might do it. Am I going on the right direction? Thanks

hello all, this post refers to my post fs9 md11 flight egpf - kjfk which is on page 3 at present. a reply to that post by Markus Burkhard made it clear i had run out of memory due to memory issues with xp 32bit. it appears that windows 7 will have all the answers to xp32bit memory problems. i was wondering if anyone with the necessary knowhow knows if windows 7 will have the ability to cope with the usual fs addons which were produced solely for windows xp32bit OS. i emailed Flight1 and put this question to them but they had no answer to give me. this post might be useful to other simmers like me who do not have the knowledge or ability to delve into computer software…

I have been playing around with Windows 7 32 bit (eval copy version 7100) and have installed FSX and both service packs. My observations to date are that it does run smoother all round with little or no tweaking of the fsx config file. I have subsequently imported some old FS9 models across such as my DC9-10s which run without penalty on fsx sp2 under Windows XP.Immediately I choose them to fly I get a huge FPS drop and jerky behavior starts.I know DX11 is incorporated in windows 7 so I enabled the dx10 option in FSX -This resulted in no difference in performance with these imports, but I did note that there seemed to be absolutely no impact on frame rates with this optio…

Hello, I know a number of us are running FSX with Windows 7 RC1. Has anyone tried to apply the settings that Nick suggests for Vista in their W7 install? If you have, have you seen any improvement in FSX?
