I have a problem that keeps happening that is driving me crazy!1st-a new computer with Windows 7-I have spent the last 4 days reinstalling my 100 or so add ins. When I try to install some-they eat my entire dll , exe file. One example is the Cloud nine bergen scenery-it seems their add in manager causes a problem. But after doing so-I am suddenly missing programs from the add in folder in fsx-I go to look at the dll file and everything is wiped out.So just a caution to anyone reinstalling stuff that this may happen...<edit> I think I found part of the problem and answer..Win 7 64 has two folders-one "program files" and one "program files (x86).It seems the programs i…

I use Win 7 on a computer dedicated for FS and gaming. Therefore I have no mail here and don't surf on the web. Only connected to internet by the games themselves. If so do I need an antivirus program?Win 7 should be quite safe in irself right? And I have the firewall.

Just installed FSX SP2 under W7 32 bit. Computer equipment: see below. FSX runs very smoothly, however get Out of Memory (OOM) error, when RAM intensive scenery applied (such as Aerosoft's Hamburg airport scenery). Refer to Nick's article concerning OOM error with Vista 32 bit (http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041), where he recommends to free up more memory by applying the command:BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 2560This worked great with Vista 32 bit. Can I apply the same command with Windows 7 to get rid of the error.Advice highly appreciated.Rgds, JuergenDell XPS 420Intel Quad Core CPU Q6600 2.40 Ghz4 GB RAMNvidia GF 8800 GTX 768 MB

Hello to all Win7 users.I just wanted to point out, to anyone who might not be aware, of a very annoying bug in Win7. If you set your desktop to solid color in personalize, you will experience a very long welcome screen (around 40sec). Anything else, your own picture, windows default or whatever, won't cause this.I discovered it very painfully, going through many tests until I found it, but there is a post on microsoft technet about it:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums...86-a00615a9ca3e

Hi - I'm starting to keep a list of problems I've found so far on my system with Win7 64-bit in both FSX and FS9. I cannot set the parking brake in FS9. The FT/Wilco B737 has "dead" gauges in FSX. But back to the fs9 parking brake issue - has anyone else run across this problem? (Or for that matter, the problem of the FT 737 not working in FSX?)Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!Jim

Hi, wondering if anyone can help, I get randomized fatal errors with FS X, never happened in XP but it happens at random times and sometimes not at all in WIN 7, This happens with both SP2 instaled and not instaled, it also willl not let me use Wilco' 777, I have a new Alianware system running win 7, the only thing I can think of its a compatibility issue with Win7 and FS X. I did everything with the exception of a fulll reinstal of the program. Any help would be apreciated

Hi all,I would like to report a successful upgrade from Vista x64 (enterprise) SP2 to Windows 7 x64 RTM (enterprise). Before I started the procedure I made images from both system drive and FSX drive. The whole procedure took me about one and a half hour and four or five restarts. The only incompatibility was acronis image which I had to uninstall first. After the Windows upgrade I checked all my drivers which were fine. No additional updates were necessary. After configuring the display settings with nhancer (which needed a reconfiguration and a restart) I deleted the fsx.cfg file which then should be newly generated at the first run of fsx. Don't get impatient, it took …

Good Mornings Gents,I'm planning to purchase W7U-64 upgrade for my current Vista Ultimate 64 set-up and I have some questions and concerns. My FS2004 setup is very complex and I think I'm not alone in that. Therefore, I feel that it would be extremely labor intensive to start everything from the scratch (including planes' and sceneries\modules installation) if I could go with clean W7 installation over existing Vista. Is there any way to minimize the pain and simply install W7 upgrade over my current OS without having FS2004 reinstalled. If anyone has such experience or perhaps you're aware about possible problems, please let me know. Thankss

OK here's the scenario - 2 hard drives.First haed drive partiioned say 50/50 and second hard drive left complete. When Win7 is installed it installs on C - and of course there are drives D and E.BE AWARE - Drive D is the 2nd hard drive and E is the 2nd partition on the first hard drive.Just saying check the sizes before installing all the progs and data else you can be installing on the wrong drive if you think E is the second hard drive.John E

Hello again! I changed the screen resolution for my monitor in the control panel and in the sim; settings, display, hardware.this seems to have done the trick for now.I will continue to post any new developments,as this seems to be an ongoing problem for me.I have changed the resolution before and it fixed the TERRAIN.DLL error message temporarily. After several times of loading and flying the sim, the TERRAIN.DLL error message came back and I would change the resolution again and would again be able to load and fly the sim for several more times before getting the same TERRAIN.DLL error message. My monitor has a maximum (and recommended) resolution of 1920 x 1080 @ 60HZ (32 …

When anticipating the purchase of Win 7 and searching for the best price in stores (where I received bad info from a couple of 'qualified' people), and on-line, I found this article on the ComputerWorld site. It's worth reading and could save you a significant amount of cash. Here's the link:www.computerworld.com/s/article/9140125-George

I ran into an odd problem on FSX running on my Win 7Prox64 machine. While installing my airports, most add themselves to the FSX scenery automatically but there are some that have to be added manually. When I try to add them manually, the path and file populate the two boxes but when I click (ok) the path in the top box disappears. The files were properly installed in FSX so I don't know why this is happening.Anyone Having This Problem?Alex

Earlier, I had posted my basic plan to upgrade from WinXP pro 32Bit to Win 7 Pro 64bit. I was aware that there would be no direct upgrade and that I would have to do a clean install of Win 7 and that was acceptable. I had backed up everything on two separate USB HDs, run the Windows 7 Upgrade advisor, updated drivers and had the needed 64 bit drivers available on CD. The basic system in a Quad 4 6600 @2.4gHz, 4G Ram, nVidia 9600 512RAM, drives defragged etc. WinXP on Drive F, Drive C: clean, ready for Win 7. Logged in as Administrator.Push the button. No joy. Install error:" Disc contains one or more dynamic volumes that are not supported for installation". Remember disc w…

I have a second install of FSX SP2 on W7 64bit with many of the most popular 3rd party add-ons. Generally it seems to behave about the same as a highly optimized install on XP64 with the one notable exception: Missing and or distorted texturing in full screen mode ala Vista. Sometimes the engine cowlings, external fuselage skin, or scenery objects are missing. The Alt ENTER trick usually generates either a partial or full black screen. Usually occurs 15+ minutes into the sim when switching to external view. Using the Nvidia 191.07s. Anyone have any advice or is this something I'll just have to swallow with W7?

I've been using Windows 7 for about a fortnight now and am very pleased with it especially with FSX. It seems to fly that bit smoother with the graphics a liitle crisper though to be fair I did get good results on XP. I have just downloaded REX weather expansion which requires me to navigate to the FSX.CFG folder to install but I cannot find it. probably me being thick but I would appreciate some help. Thanks in advance.
