If I remove the hard drive from my computer and replace it with another (new) hard drive (in the same drive bay) will the Windows 7 program automatically begin installing after inserting the disk in the CD/DVD drive?-George

Hi All, Just rebuilt my pc and am in the process of getting everthing for FSX reinstalled. My question is which verion of VOX ATC do I download and install? VOX ATC with voice rec (not Vista) or VOX ATC without voice rec (Vista) I have my original boxed DVD from a couple of years ago. Do I need to install that first as well as the ATT voices? Thanks in advance. Craig

Thought I'd share this.It happened to me so it might happen to you...If you install Win 7 from the DVD (cold boot), and you appear to get a hang where you get a blue Win 7 background wallpaper screen with nothing in it (this is the screen where it normally should ask you for your langauge settings), just let the computer sit there for about 5 minutes, and eventually the langauge option screen will pop up.Don't do what I did and start ripping your computer apart.Just wait for about 5 minutes.I googled this and it has happened to some other people too. Why? Who knows. This never happened to me when installed the betas and RC's.

Hi All, I just ran across this blog and thought others might like to read it re: DX10 -11. http://davenunez.wordpress.com/2009/02/01/...x-in-dx10-mode/ I just rebuilt my machine 10 days ago and am amazed at how good FSX runs without the need for overclocking using a Core I7-860. I was running a Core2Duo E6850 overclocked to 3.6 prior to the new build. After reading the blog I went home last night and checked the DX 10 preview box and restarted FSX. I have the following setting: Graphics Section: Framerate: Unlimited Global Texture-Max Trilinear +Antialiasing Preview Direct10X …

Wow,After one day I'm getting a blue screen every time I start the computer up. Then it reloads and all is fine. I guess I'm going to have to reistall. FSX runs great on my new I7-860. Like a whole new sim.

In XP I could set up all speech to be directed to my USB headset. How can I do this in Win 7? I still want all other sounds to go through my speakers. In FSX I can set this up as always, but Win 7 is more tricky :(

I do not have Win 7 yet but wondered if there are "updated" driver issues - especially for things such as scanners and printers - as we have seen in the past with the drivers not being available when XP and Vista were first released.Anyone had such issues - especially with HP products?

I've read up on this, but would appreciate other opinions on my plans for my new PC. My current (and old) PC runs 32-bit XP.I plan to install 64-bit Windows 7 on my main hard drive and use a second physical hard drive (10,000 Raptor hard drive) to install 64-bit XP. The XP drive would be used just for FS9 and any other programs/games that have issues with Windows 7.I know about partitioning a single drive into two dual boots, but was wondering if it's more feasible to use two physical hard drives to set up a dual boot system like I plan to.Any replies are greatly appreciated.

Just obtained a new computer with Windows 7 x64 as the OS. I've repeatably tried to install the FS9.1 update without success.I've placed the file in the FS9 folder, tried to run it in compatability mode. I have UAC turned off but have also tried run as administrator. I've tried leaving it for a while as suggested by Pete Dowson in his forums with the original release. The program gets as far as ABLSCPTT.dll then hangs for a short period (less than a minute) the I get a message saying the update was unsuccessfully applied. Has any one got any ideas???Thanks in advancePhillip Speer

Anyone using a Creative Soundblaster Audigy SE soundcard with Win 7 64bit? The MS compatibility tester told me that this card is not compatible and there are no Win 7 drivers for the SE on the Creative site but there are for the other Audigys. I have e-mailed Creative support but the promised reply has not yet materialised.Iain Smith

Hi,Would ik be possible to set up a Knowledge base regarding Windows 7 and both versions of Flight Simulator.Otherwise our experiences become one long (unrelated) listing in this forum.I checked the Wiki menu in AVSIM header, but the link is wrong. What I propose is something like the following structure:Windows 7 - FS9 - SceneryWindows 7 - FS9 - Add onsWindows 7 - FS9 - AircraftWindows 7 - FS9 - ConfigurationSame structure for FSX.This way we group our experiences better and make it more easy for pilots to check what add-ons/scenery/aircraft cause issue etc.Idea?

For the last couple of days I've been trying to resolve a network issue with Win7. Seems my ASUS P6T deluxe v2 and its 2x Marvell: Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Controllers don't play so nice with 7. On just about every reboot I lose connection despite both controllers appearing in the device manager as being fine. The message I get in the windows taskbar is "A network cable is unplugged" I can usually unplug it and plug it back in and re-establish the connection, annoying to say the least! Now I've tried all the posted ideas at both the Windows 7 forums and ASUS and both have quite a few folks with the same issue across several platforms but the most common being ASUS and Nvidi…

Hi all-I have Win 7 arriving sometime today and had a question..I'm currently running Vista Business 32 and FSX just fine. Vista is on one drive and FSX is on its own drive. I have three drives in my box.Can I install Win 7 on the third drive and have it 'see' FSX on the other without doing an FSX reinstall that tied directly to Win 7?Thanks,Mark

Up until today I've been using the AffinityMask option in FSX.CFG with a value of 15 (running FSX on an Intel i7-920 with HT disabled in BIOS but after having problems lately with graphical "glitches" when panning fast in spot view I today tried removing the AffinityMask option from FSX.CFG and after doing so all problems with the graphic is gone and might be an illusion but to me all textures look sharper. Illusion or not I'm more than happy having get rid of the problems I had with the graphic and thought I would share this finding if anyone else has similar problems - might be worth a try!

My fav. screen resolution for FSX was 3072 X 768 with Windows XP Home. With Win 7, that resolution causes gross distortion, no matter how new my Nvidea 8800 GTS drivers are. What I am wondering is if somebody with Win 7 Pro and possibly using Windows XP Mode can check if that resolution works in that environment? Thanks!Randy Jura, KPDX

Hi, anyone here running Win 7 64bit & FSX with only 2GB of memory?I haven't yet installed my Home Premium copy which arrived the other day as I only have 2GB of PC6400 DDR2 memory (with Core2 Duo E7400 on Gigabyte EP-31 DSL, plus Geforce 9600GT 512MB). I'm wondering whether I should wait until I can up the memory to 4GB, which will cost me minimum of 50 UK Pounds, possibly 80UK pounds. Just wondered how it would perform in the meantime. Thanks.Iain Smith

Gentlemen, I need some advice. I am considering making the jump to Windows 7. Looking at the editions available at Windows.com, there are the typical 3 editions, Home, Professional, and Ultimate. Now since all editions are 64 bit, what edition would you recommend.I have 3 systems at home. My FSX system, running on XP Home (32bit), which has 4 G's of Ram. Now I know the 32 bit doesn't use all 4 Gigs, however it is using the 3.2 Gigs that a 32 bit system can use. My laptop is my FSX network system, running my apps for FSX, this sytem has Vista Home 32 bit and 4 gigs of Ram. My wife's system is running XP Home 32 bit, also 4 gigs of Ram.Now the question I have. MS i…

Would someone please check my reasoning and comment. I am currently running WinXP Pro 32bit on a Quad core 6600 @ 2.4Ghrtz. I have 4G Ram installed and several HD installed. My system has passed the Win 7 upgrade adviser analysis as good to go. My current boot drive happens to be F:, as a result of an earlier crash and re-build. I have copied all of the current drives and contents to a new external HD in preparation for the upgrade. There is nothing else on that drive except the backup files. I plan to do a clean install of Win 7 64bit on drive C:, re-install all programs from the original files/discs, and then use drive C: as the primary boot drive. I plan to leave drive…
