I was wondering if anyone that has the Cessna trim wheel from Saitek would care to comment on it. It seems to me that trimming in the sims is one of the more difficult things, and I find it so in about all of the sims, not just one or the other. If the trim wheel works at least fairly well, I wil probably make it my next hardware purchase.

I'd like to share a project I am working on with the group. I created a .net Windows Tray Application that listens to the UDP port output from xplane and builds a KML file that Google Earth reads on a timer as a network link. I generate a basic point place-mark with a custom icon (airplane, heli, etc...) and the name of my plane or heli. I set a LookAt entry that will keep the window centered as the point updates and you can specify the eye level or height to zoom out to. Hi guys,I have got my copy of X-Plane 10 and overall am very impressed with it but when I try to open it x plane comes up with a message saying: X-plane can only access 2GB of Virtual Memory instead of three, this may cause crashes ect... ect... As advised on the x plane website I have increase my virtual memory allowance in windows (to 5gb) and x plane continues to come up with that message. Any help in solving this issue will be greatly apreceated.Yours,Nathan

yesterday I had a glass or two of champagne to celebrate the new year when all of a sudden weird pictures showed up on my monitor where I normally run XPX.must have been the champagne I guess.

Does anyone know how to shutup Btihcing Betty in X-Plane 10? When I leave the ground she say C-CAP alert. Any time I do anythng I get the same alert. In X-Plane 9 there was a check box to turn her off, but in version 10 I am unable to find such a check box.What the heck is a C-CAP alert anyway??

Am wondering if anybody can lend me a flashlight - or show me some other way to find the switches in a cold and dark cockpit at night.I've gotten comfortable enough with X-Plane that I'm starting to do cold and dark starts on some of the more complex aircraft, like the BK117. And of course I want to take advantage of the wonderful night environment, too. However, I'm finding that the cold and dark cockpits at night are so dark that I can't find the first couple of switches I need (such as battery and panel lights) to get started. Hi there,I've downloaded the demo of x-plane 10 however it wasn't really playable, which is why I want to ask on here.Whenever I see the videos in-game on youtube or elsewhere, it seems to me that the populated areas look like a scene from sim city 4. The houses and roads look like they have been pulled straight from that game and into XP10. To be honest i'm very underwhelmed by it.As well as that, the water in XP10 to me, compared to REX in FSX, is also underwhelming. Clouds and fog look pretty good though.I really want to be impressed by XP10 since I've pretty much ditched FSX and havn't played for a few months because of the amount of errors/issues with it. Hi,I wonder if anyone can help. I have downloaded the demo/beta (I'm an FSX user but keen to see what Xplane can offer). I click run and the opening/title screen loads. Then nothing else happens - the opening screen just freezes and says it is not responding (as in the picture). Just got the latest update and I'm still experiencing the moving cloud shadows when panning around. Is this a common problem that is being addressed? I keep hoping with each update that it gets fixed. It's quite a distraction in an otherwise wonderful simulation. Is this related to a driver or something else?Thanks,Scott

I was trying the ATC feature, no success so far:dialed CLNC then GND, waiting for clearance from KSEA to KBFI, as per the xplane manual. standing at the runway this is what I get in the ATC menu (XPX 10.03 beta 7, default C172):"A gate hold is in effect for a runway change. please standby."after standing by for 10 minutes, frustated and gave up.Next I tried a similar procedure at KCMI and filed for a short hop to KTIP in the Carenado F33: after filing FLT plan with CLNC, I receive my clearance, read back OK. then tuned GND, hit ENTER to await taxi instructions but all I get is an empty ATC window.Is this as real as it gets, blade elements, plausible or what am I doing wro…

What prompted the question was the underwhelmed sensation I personally got from a recent “aerobatic plane” release and a not quite so recent Russian “aerobatic plane” release. Yes both these models are brimming with eye-candy but brimming with flight modelling characteristics I am not so sure. In particular “super critical” behaviour re stalls, wing drops, spins +ve / -ve and flick rolls.Now it may be that it is unrealistic to expect modelling in these areas of flight (and I definatly don’t want the canned FSX versions). The one thing that is bugging me about the runways that follow the contour is the accuracy of the data that is used. OK, perhaps not accuracy but how far apart each data point is. Seattle is one example and it is in the demo. When coming in on runway 16, especially the left two if you touch down where all the tire marks are it's like hitting a brick wall, the slop is so large. Too large to think the actual runway is like this but I understand how the software could make it this way if just past the runway there is a bank or slope etc. At that point the somewhere on the runway is then going to make a beeline directly down to the next lowest point. I can get the forward, back, left, and right views programmed but I have not been able to program the quarter views yet. I have the Cessna licensed Saitek Trim Wheel (xmas present from my wife) and while it does work in X-Plane 10, it is way too sensitive. Turning the wheel 1 degree = 2-5 rotations in the stock X-plane Cessna 172. Unfortunately X-Plane UI does not appear to allow you to adjust sensitvity for all joystick axis... They only give you access to roll, pitch, and yaw. Anybody know how to do this? I need to turn down the sensitivity on the elevator trim. Right now it is not realistic at all. And yes, I'm a licensed pilot and know it won't really be realistic without force feedback on the yoke.

I've seen all the comments about being able to alter or create your own airport scenery and what have you, but I cannot find such tool in XPX. Anyone know of or have suggested video card settings for X-Plane 10 with my equipment? I am presently using latest nvidia drivers with inspector for my FSX installation. I would prefer NOT to have to change settings for X-Plane but if I must I will adapt. I want to use both Flightsims without having to make video card setting changes. I know every system is different (even the ones that are the same) and I am only seeking suggestions in general terms. I have just about finished with my controller setup and now trying to get the best display before I start acquiring addons.Thanks

OK Gang!We're getting there - slowly but surely.The great folks at XPFW have figured out how to give us decent looking AI aircraft without rendering our computers useless - YEAHHH folks!!! Thank You!!!!Now for next step. Next step is to figure out how to get those aircraft to follow real life flight plans instead of just random ATC tracks.
