I am wondering what is the best way to install ver 10.1. Just leave the X-Plane Demo in and go on with it using disk one?2. Reinstall from scratch using the DVD installer downloaded of the web?3. Does it make any difference which way one goes?Currently I am just going ahead and using the demo version I have been using.Donald E. Donovan.

I was using the demo with no problems. I've updated the demo to the new 10.3 beta and now I'm getting the top half of the screen showing the screen that was on there earlier. In other words, if I was looking at the outside of the plane and then changed my view to the cockpit, the upper half would still show the upper half of the outside of the plane view. Any ideas?

While trying out the demo (as adviced to in earlier thread) I encountered these issues1) I see flickering objects and shimmering textures. Had similary problems in FSX but solved that by setting up a profile in Nvidia inspector for FSX according to a tweaking guide. In XPlane I see no entry for XPlane. How can this be solved?2) I added manually cloud layers and got rather descent performence. Then I downloaded real time weather that resulted in a less cloudy sky. Then I saw drastic drop in performence. Big drop in fps. Why? Rendering options unchanged.

Yep-the major urban areas need some work. However, there are many cool places on earth that xplane just does incredibly! How about a thread with those places, some directions,and some picts so other simmers can go visit the jaw dropping scenery! Make sure you do a rw download before going too-the rw in xplane is stunning. Interesting experiments today. Tried to use Benny's OSM to better populate the Seattle CBD. It seemed to work real well. Actually, my first flight was incredible, I hadn't made my way downtown. The flight around the railyards was gobsmacking, so much detail. Then the flight across the CBD, beautiful, with a nice mixture of tall and small building making their way up the incline.Then I realised eventually - I'd made an error with the install of the new OSM scenery - what I was experiencing was Xplane default!!!!!!!!Hmm, that pretty well proves it in my mind - the plausible approach does work, at least if you've never visited or looked it up in Google!So that's what I did, …

Huge performance increase. HDR was impossible to have on before. With this update, HDR enabled with atmo scattering and FXAA, I'm getting 30-40fps.Load times are faster as well.

Given up on the autopilot. Moved on to another issue. Rudder trim.If I set the view to look at the rear of the B58, the rudder is trimmed left. If I press the number 6 to center the rudder trim, nothing happens. I can press the number 5 to manually trim the rudder back to center. However, if I the press the number 6 (rudder trim center) the rudder trims left again.What's going on here? Why is the rudder trimmed left by default? Why can't I center the trim with the number 6?

...on the developer front for XP10! Damian Clark from Hi-Fi just posted this this morning."And we're working on lots of other things to, including adapting our new developments to other sims including P3D, FS9, XP10, and, when we are able, Flight."So it looks like there will be a version of ASE or similar at some point for all current sim platforms.

Has anyone had a problem with the nVidia driver 285.62, the latest WHQL driver from nVidia?Mine seem to be corrupting quite often, or it seems XP ver 10 doesen't like this particular driver.Donald E. Donovan

One thing i noted in a lot of X-Plane 10 screenshots is the lack of contrast in the textures. Very often the scenery looks a bit dull. Since I am currently unable to run X-Plane 10 at all and I don't have my new computer just yet I decided to play a little with the screenshots that alpilotx posted in his "X-Plane 10, Landscapes of the world" thread (http://forum.avsim.n...125-screenshots). I tried to add just a little bit of contrast to them and in my personal opinion this subtle change makes quite a bit of a difference. When I start XP10 I am so close to the instruments I cannot see anything. When I press - it goes back a little. How do you zoom in and out like FSX? Running TH2G as well.

Can someone with XP10 share whether or not X-Plane has seasonal changes to the scenery, or does everything stay nice and green all year long?-Greg

Now I remember why I never use X-Plane.org forums. I'm not talking about the contributing members, I'm referring to the format. It's like the Las Vegas strip without booze. They have taken a simple bulletin board concept (IPB) and turned into a nightmare of ads, live chat box and gigantic member avatars. In the past Xplane could be purchased at bestbuy, gamestop, microcenter, and several other retail game stores. Anyone know if these same ones will be handling XPX?I checked with gamestop and they show Xplane as "d" list (means no new copies will be ordered). I dont see Bestbuy or Microcenter showing XPX on the online stores either. Was hoping Microcenter would carry it ...

UPS just delivered my copy of XP10. Started installation at 1622 EST 5DEC2011. Let's see how long it takes to install...Deleted Demo from HDD to see how long a scratch install would take. Says if I select all scenery areas, 58.1GB for install.
