Installed the latest version still have the joystick problem. I have a Thrustmaster Warthog joystick and throttle and Saitek combat peddles, I have tried all the combinations of plugging and unplugging before X Plane loads but still fails to load. Unplug all the devices and X Plane loads plug them in and after a while X Plane crashes again. Is it worth a complete reinstall?

Playing with the new beta, and as usual fiddling with the HDR settings etc, which I believe is standard deferred rendering. To me, in whatever game I bump into it on, this usually means great lighting hampered by slow (if you turn it up high enough to be effective) AA This got me thinking about something I had bumped into a while ago while reading up on the subject, and I was wondering if this version of AA would have advantages in Xplane or not. http://vidimce.org/publications/sbaa/ http://vidimce.org/publications/sbaa/sbaa_i3d2012.pdf

X-Plane 10.10 beta 1 is finally wrapping up to ship! It will just be a few days now. This took forever largely because it is so darn tricky to get all the complicated highway overpasses and underpasses and bridges an on-ramps and off-ramps working in every case, with the near-infinite number of road combinations out there. But, we finally have it about licked and are starting to wrap up the beta to deliver it to you now. http://xplane10.wordpress.com/

  6. I am finally ready to upgrade from XP9 to XP10. I just ordered a copy and it will be arriving at my home in about a week or so. I thought it would be a great time since 10.10 is about to come out with optimized ATI coding and I happen to be a Radeon owner. Also a Polish scenery video I saw recently on these very forums helped to push me over the edge. Anyway, I already own Carenado's F33 Beechcraft Bonanza for X-Plane 9, Which I assume is compatible with X-Plane 10, Anyone feel free to correct me of course, And I was wondering if anyone had any aircraft and/or scenery recommendations they could give to a "Low and Slow" GA flyer like myself? Also any must-have plugins?…

I was thinking about what might turn the flight dynamics more realistic in xp and the hinge forces/moments came to my mind. I usually feel that the control inputs in xp happen as if there were no hinge forces/moments, thus making it possible to input huge deflections at any speed. I don't know how these forces and moments are simulated in xp, but maybe they aren't being properly translated to the mapping of control surface deflections. Even in an old time sim like ELITE, and even not using the fancy hardware with force feedback that sim is prepared to accept, if one fully deflects the controls at high speed the reponse will be slow and either the G-limit is exceed…

I was going to run the exe that came in it after selecting the windows directory, but paused when it says installing some runtime drivers... is that okay? meanwhile the usb stick is not recognized by the pc... no messages, just nothing I think... what do I do here? figured someone here ought to know... thanks, peter

A few days ago tf51d made an interesting remark: there isn't any sim today that does get the sun color right at sunset, i.e. the typical red/orange sun color at sunset or sunrise. So this got me interested and I experimented a little with the X-Plane sun textures, and indeed it's possible to have a red sun at sunrise/sunset! I'm far from being a texture artist, so this is just a very quick and dirty example, that I managed to do in a few minutes with an image editor: Of course a real texture artist, with much more time at disposal, could do much better than that. I think the lighting engine of X-Plane is quite powerful after all! Marco

The last few days, I spend some time with WED. I choose to just modify some existing scenery first, just to get the hang of it. I thought that would be easier to learn WED, if I start off small, So having just purchased Aerosoft's Zurich and Lugano scenery, I was a little disapointed that the airport looked like Post WW3. So my first test using WED is to populate those two scenery packages with Static planes. Yea, I know static planes and not as good as Dynamic AI, but until we have a decent AI system for XPX, this seems the best way to go right now. My next thing is to build a whole airport from scratch. Im going to start with my hometown airport, since Im familiar w…

Anyone pick this up yet? Im normally not into a WW2 themes in a Civilian Flight sim, but this looks really good and I nead a home for my Mr3d Zero. I plane to pick it up this weekend, unless the Carenado Caravan comes out before this weekend. Wife will have a fit if I get both. Rob http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=373

  15. After using X-Plane for 3 years I think it's time for a little report. When I started flying X-Plane, everything looked different. It took a few days to get familiar with the sim itself and I started flying the default planes. Not much fun so I looked for add ons. Downloaded many planes from the org to find out that freeware planes are not very satiesfying, I looked for some payware. Found the planes by Jason Chandler and started with the Lear 25. What a great plane. I always wanted to have a good classic learjet for FSX but never found a good one. This was different. Nice handflying qualities and I was able to fly it by the books. More planes followed, the great Piper pa…

  16. On previous versions of Xp this didn't work quite well. For a given date I believe you would experience the exact same sunrise/sunset hours and the altitude of the Sun above the horizon would also be the same, probably allways referenced to mid-latitudes. How is it in XP10? Say it's October 23 and 6PM LT. Go to Florida and tell me if it's still day, then up to northern Canada and, at the same time is it night already, or at least is the Sun lower in the horizon?

  17. Hello Gang! After months of tinkering and practicing with XPX, today I decided to try my first FMS based flight from DFW-MIA with a nice flight plan created courtesy of FSBuild. I am using the wonderful XPFW 757 converted to XPX and real weather from X-Plane. Things are going well but I have noticed that ground textures turned very blurry at 37,000 feet. The immediate textures around the aircraft are ok but far in the distance they look blurry. Please take a look at the attached screenshot for reference. Anyone run into this issue before? Is it a setting issue or a bug? Thanks for any insight. Dennis

I bought X-Plane 10 via Amazon and installed it on my laptop last night. I'm an avid FSX on my user and plan to stick with it until the end of my desktop computer (hopefully a few years). I did some X-Plane flying last night and today. I really like the visuals and aircraft dynamics. My brain is obviously trained to use all FSX keys and commands, but I'll tweak the assignments to make it easier to navigate. I'm excited about the future, especially seeing interest from developers like PMDG! Plus it already looks like there plenty of other third party interest in making this sim better. I'll continue to learn how to use it.

http://developer.x-p...ll-here-really/ We’re Still Here, Really! Posted on June 26, 2012 by Ben Supnik So I just realized that it’s been a full month since I’ve posted anything on the dev blog, which is a bit ridiculous since we’re working on a ton of stuff for 10.10 and a number of announcements have also come out in the computer industry. I’ll try to catch up on various topics over the next week. Where Is 10.10??? I’m pretty sure that that’s the money question: where is 10.10? The answer is: we are working on it, mainly fixing bugs pre-beta. When will the public beta program start? I don’t know – that will be determined by how quickly we can kno…

Hi Everybody, I am writing my thesis about "Test Automation in FBW(Fly by wire) FCS(Flight Control Systems)". And I am using ML/SL(Matlab/Simulink) for to model my system and X Plane for to simulate my system. And The communication between ML/SL and X Plane is through UDP connection. I send and receive data through UDP connection. I want to ask you following question about X Plane UDP Structure, -As I said I am making test for FBW FCS and for each test case the preconditions must be the same in X Plane. Like weather, speed, altitude and so on...So I save a situation in X Plane for that purpose. Is it possible to reload/refresh this situation before each tes…

Hello, I just purchased the RXP 430 GPS for XP and installed it in XP10. It seams to work just fine. However, Id like to have it display the 430 GPS screen over the default 3D cockpit GPS screen in some of my Carenado aircraft. searching on the web, I read that you can not manipulate the GPS drawn on the instrument panel, just have it display there.Thats fine, Ill use the popup window to adjust the GPS. (I think there is a way you can fiddle with it to acually adjust it in 3d mode, but right now Ill be happy just to get it to display in the 3d cockpit) From what Ive read on the RXP manual, I need to edit a config file in the RXP directory, but it needs coordinates…

I am fairly new to X-Plane after many years of MSFS, and am enjoying it. I would like to try helicopters, but they are impossible to fly (and quite unnatural) with my yoke and pedal setup. I tried installing my joystick (Logitech) but had to reconfigure all my settings to the new controller (expected) and, when I re-installed the yoke, I had to start all over again with the settings (unexpected). In MSFS, it would detect the controller and use the saved settings. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help.
