Hi guys I have been looking at this again and getting some decent results with it (seems so to me anyway). One area where I'm having some problems though is setting the radii of gyration in yaw. I guess to get it all really close you would need to relate to actual experience in the real aircraft. Is there a ballpark figure for the yaw? Maybe related to the pitch and roll radii of gyration was something I was thinking. Thanks

I got Xplane 10 a few weeks ago, but for some reason my DVD drive had issues with it. Then other things came up with work and home and I started to feel like Id never get time to install it.I just got around to replacing my DVD drive and I spent a good 4 hours installing XP10 today and finally took my first flight with it a few hours ago. I took some time to set up my joystick, Pedals and Saitek throttle. I dont have everything set up yet, but im more than half way there.Im a veteran FSX user and Xplane is very different in many ways. Im a little overwhelmed by everything new to learn about XPX, but I see that as a good thing. Im ready for something new and different. I …

On one of his "Adventures" Austin describes something I have long forwarded to him in an email and asked to be incorporated in future versions of X-Plane - the variation of pressure with altitude not being uniform. http://www.x-plane.com/adventures/59_altimeter.html I gave him the example of the well known rule - from high to low ... - applying to both flying from a high pressure area into a low pressure one, but also when flying from a hotter region into a colder one. In the later case above we may well depart and arrive at aerodromoed more or less at the same altitude, and with the same pressure, but in altitude the air is "compressed" near the lower t…

Hello everyone, I'm about to update my installation of XPX. During the update process the installer notifies me that earth_awy.dat is about to be changed (it says that I for some reason have changed this file myself so it warns me about this before updating). What is happening here? I don't recall changing any file. What I did though was to install ESSA and ESMS a couple of weeks ago. Maybe this is what's causing the message? What to do now? If I give permission to over write will it mess up (and force me to reinstall ESMS/ESSA) or is this message caused by something else entirely? Thanks for your time!

Hi everyone. The above mentioned aircraft is on sale and I am thinking about getting it. I am curious to know you guys' opinion of it. Is it any good? How does flight/fuel planning work? The effect on FPS? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Hi, I am a newcomer in the Xplane world. I have XPlane 10 and after a short period of trial I started to fly online as I did with FS9 and FSX. Some time happen that during the flight the PC crash. With FSX or FS9 in this case there is no problem, you only have to restart fs and load the situation saved automatically by Autosave before the crash and you can continue the flight online without problems and without loose the flight in case you are performing a VA company flight. Is there something similar in XPlane? I mean a sort of Autosave that allow you to restart a flight after a system crash?

I was thinking of getting the Piper Seneca, although I love the default Beeches themselves, but all Carenado acft come with that glaring warning about XP10 (which I appreciate the developer for). I was wondering what "new features" are they talking about. As long as flight controls and Radios Comm and Nav work I will be more than happy. Would anybody using any Carenado acft confirm if they see anything adverse in XP10? What would you recommend, buy or wait it out?

Been trying to figure out how do you get a texture background from say GoogleEarth, I assume it's geotagged and you can place objects on it. Is this how its suppose to work?

Hi guys,I have been reading many forum posts about the cities and airports in XP 10 and have been very worried about what I have read. The cities part does not overly concern me as it is probably something the developers will fix in the course of time but the airports issue really concerns me. If i was to design 3D airport buildings in something like blender and then export them to the relevant file format, would it be possible to use these buildings as generic terminal buildings (ect...ect...) in x plane to make the generic airports more...realistic.I would be really grateful for any help and advice you guys could offer. Thanks in advance,NathanP.S. I would be happy to sh…

How can I disable the display of the coastline in the created pond? Fatty vague shoreline all the spoils. For example - lake 100x100 meters is not realistic to draw - the contour of the shoreline is a fat 30 meters thick.

Probably simple but i'm stumped. I've got the apt.dat file into World Editor 1.2.0.1 however can't find the lego bricks. If i click on objects on the pane on the left and then click on the airport, it places a question mark and nothing else. Do I need to download the library objects from some where and place them into WED? Any help appreciated.

is SO GOOD .... ever since upgrading my video card drivers, it has opened up a new world to me. I am over the initial hump and full fledged into XP10. I have not used FSX since then! I am not giving up on FSX, not at all, and look forward to trying it again soon - however, with my recent purchases for XP10, being the 787, CL300 and now the amazing CRJ at 50% off the price this week - all I can say is I am so stunned at the realism, fidelity and wow factor - so much like real life, I dunno when I'll be flying FSX. See, to me, it's the smoothness, combined with so much scenery, detailed cockpits and now, good airplanes that I am smitten. I have had not one lockup, crash or …

Having a problem with my X plane 10. My computer is a late 2011 Mac Book Pro with 2.5 GHz Intel Core I7 , 8GB 1333MHz of DDR3 , Intel HD Graphics 3000 512MB , running OS X LION 10.73. I have set my rendering settings to exactly what I had been running in X plane 9. The settings are : Texture Resolution - Extreme Res , Anti Alias level - 4x Hardcore , Gama - 2.5 , Antisotropic Filter - 8x , Compress Textures - Unchecked , Laterial Field of View - 75.00 . When starting X plane I get : X mapped out of memory C path = / users / wade flinn/ desktop / xplane 10 / resources / default scenery / 1000 world terrain / textures 10 / loveg / shrub_temp_wet_hill dds . I can't …

Hello, downloaded a triple 7 (feelthere) and am inexperienced in the FMC department. Have done lots of reading and watching youtubes but I can't find out what's causing the problem. At first the FMC took me direct to the airport I.e. didn't line me up for the GS. Fixed that by adding waypoints into the flight planner to give me a very long final. My problem now is I'm catching the slope, heading hold light extinguishes but alt light dosen't! So I end up hand flying it down. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

As I stated at another thread I am waiting for the next beta demo to give xp10 a fair try, and possibly stick with it :-) Meanwhile I am investigating some aspects that are important to me in a flightsim, and weather is one of them... How does RW Weather, extracted probably from METAR strings (are TAFs also parsed?) get rendered in xp10. How close to real do you find it? For instance, flying in a region, somewhere in the World, where you have various METAR stations, fetching RW Weather feeds all of those stations and the weather is rendered accordingly, integrating the differences in cloud cover, visibility, precipitation, wind direction/intensity, pressure, etc..…

A little preamble... I have spent many evenings adjusting the base C172 that comes with XPIX in order to get it to behave properly. It took a while to get all the wings, objects, weight and balance and control geometries all set up to match the real aircraft. I must say that I am very impressed at how well the initial results looked. However, the aircraft was still extraordinarily twitchy and unrealistic until I added radii of gyration. At this point the aircraft handles very much like the C172 I fly within the normal flight envelope when in calm weather. I am struggling to get the aircraft to not be blown around like a paper bag when taking off in a 9G12…

Here is someone working on a great looking ai traffic plugin for XP10. He says he can fill the skies in X-Plane with lots of aircraft using real or user-constructed flight plans for military or civil air traffic. This looks very promising! Might be old news, but was new to me. Rob

Currently I'm running X-Plane 10 on an ATI HD 7950oc' card, but even with cars and clouds turned off I experience no better FPS than with my former GTX560 - 1GB card (same settings but with cars and clouds!). It's "flyable" but far away from what you would expect. Laminar will be adressing ATI+windows' car and cloud performance in the next major update but it seems that there is much more to do for good performance on 79XX cards. If I understood correctly this is a special 79XX "bug" and I'm still not sure whether to blame ATI, Laminar, both or myself for it. Is anybody seeing "satisfying" FPS in XP10 on a HD 7950 or 7970 card or is it all the same? That …

I loved fsx, but i am tired of the crashing constantly that happens with the game. Even with my new i7 comp I still get crashed freqently. I have been flying Microsoft flight recently and have been enjoying it, but i want to go back to a real hardcore sim game. Is xplane worth buying now or should i wait a month or so until maybe some new stuff comes into light?

Right now, Im using my iphone as a moving map for XP, but id rather use my second monitor. I understand G-plan works, but it needs to use the FSX database, which I no longer have installed. Is there a good free or payware moving map for Xplane 10? Im not looking for a flight planner type of thing, just a moving map. Rob

What was your take? I was shocked that Austin hasn't looked at MSFS for more than 15 minutes in all these years and he doesn't see the AI problem in XPX. Glad though he is moving ahead with some great upgrades, like the built in Ezdok. Have to admit I wish he understood what we XPX converts are used to seeing in a sim.
