Hello everyone, I just started using X-Plane a couple of days ago and I noticed something that does not seem quite right. The timezones seem to be off in some places. For example, in my home airport, LPPR, in Portugal, X-Plane is using GMT-1, when the correct timezone is GMT+1. This is a 2h difference... is there any way this can be fixed? Thank you

I'm tired, highly disappointed, but that's certainly not the only reason I finally made my mind and decided to go Xplane10. It would be a long story, so, I'll make it short - I think for now Xplane10 is the only investment really worth the while. Just got mine :-) and plan to install it during the weekend... I've been an observer, a critic, bought v8 long ago, had some hard discussions with Austin in the past, I know Xplane10 is still in beta, but the truth is, there is a dedicated team behind it... I made my bet! Hope it is for good.... Surely it'll be :-)

Hi everyone, So, I picked up the Northern Regional version of X-Plane 10 the other day. They just came in. After installing, I ran the program with no issues. Note: I left the box unchecked to update and participate in the beta program. Yesterday, I come back to run X-plane to adjust some settings to my liking, and the screen turns white followed by an error on launch. App Hang..... No matter what, I can't get it to run. Any suggestions? I didn't do anything so I am puzzled by this. I've heard of people having issues after updating to the beta, but as I mentioned, I have not. Thanks in advance. Best, Jeff

Just happend to check their site and its out. Very nicley done! I cant spend much time with it, because I have to get ready for work, But I managed to get out a few shots. One interesting (yet creepy) feature I saw was the pilots, always look at the camera while you pan around the aircraft. Sort of like a painting where the eyes are always looking at you when your in the room. Once the plane is airborne, their too busy flying the plane to bother LOL. Rob

I didnt expect this. I guess that it's not the gpu limiting things, at least not the ati 7970 as I would expect frames to drop as the resolution increases if the gpu was being taxed. So, I guess there is room to add more graphical eyecandy without a performance loss. Details are on the youtube page. Edit, I see youtube embeds it, so the short version for those that dont go to the YT page is resolution of over 4000x2000 and I am getting 28-42 fps

Hi, I have noticed that many buildings that use alpha-fade calls, do not come into full focus till you are very close. As an example, the ksea tower can barely be seen until very close. I was approaching 34 right at 700' indicated or about 400 or so AGL, and am at the beginning of the runway threshold, and the tower is just barely coming into view and still very much a ghost. Other airport buildings do seem to use the alpha fade methods but I could be wrong as I was focusing on the tower. Is this set within the xp10 code, or is it driver dependent to some degree. My world detail distance is set at very high. Regards Bob

Community,I've noticed a common theme around X-plane over the years, the UI front end is tough to manage versus FSX. I'm wondering if anyone has heard or attempted to create a new UI front outside of X-plane?There are a couple of program for FSX that will create flight plans, pick aircraft, weather and configure FSX settings.Tim

FYI We now support devices with an insane number of buttons and axis like the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog (That thing is an insane beast). Bug Fixes: Fixed broken hot-spots on Altimeters Fixed broken adjustment on attitude indicator Fixed 3/4 deflection on Joystick Axis page on some devices (Saitek Flight Stick, Epic USB, etc.) Fixed "sticking" hat-switches that would sometimes not turn off once pressed.

The Mesh that comes with X-Plane V10 has an obvious flaw specifically around the city of Rio de Janeiro. That really affects me, since that's where I live, and where most Brazilians are likely to do their Simming, along with other main cities. If you don't believe me, try go for a quick flight taking off from Santos Dumont (SBRJ) and see for yourself. Since Mesh in X-Plane is much more complex than the usual people are used to from FSX, I don't believe there's going to be anyone doing a better mesh for Brazil any time soon, so the solution I came up with is to Flatten the area of the Flaw, it's better to look Flat and have an airport I can use than to have absurd look…

I am wondering if anybode knows if (and how) X-Plane simulates ground effect with helicopters when they hover near the ground (distance to the ground approx. smaller then the rotor diameter)?

Hi, I thought it might be best to start a new thread for the issues that just recently started. I am running 10.10b3 at the moment, but I think some of these problems predates my jumping over to the betas. Well here goes. 1. The Carenado 208 has a nasty habit of engine fires (it never did before). I've noticed that the oil pressure is way up in the reds while just sitting and idling on the ground. A fire always breaks out after one-two minutes of flight. No matter what. 2. Really odd behaviour with the CRJ200.. At first I thought I couldn't get the batteries started. But I realized that if I try to fly during the night this happens. None of the displays start. Al…

Just in case you haven't subscribed to our site for all the latest on Xplane & in particular this great looking plane, here's the link to the interview with Ramzzess and Philipp, the developers: http://xsimreviews.c...philipp-munzel/ Look deep into the pics, there's almost as much detail in them, like the reflections, as in 20 of the 800 pages of their draft flight manual!

I wanted to share this with you guys. Looks very good. It will be one of the most advanced aircraft ever built for X-Plane and it will include all the systems that a real 777 has.

At least at Laminar Research's X-Plane homepage, the price of XP10 is currently $69.99, down $10 from it's starting point. The Aerosoft store hasn't yet followed suit, but perhaps soon they will. This price drop and the improvements reported in the scenery world as part of the 10.10 update were enough to push me over the edge. Order has been placed. God help you all, because I'm going from being a curmudgeonly potential customer, to a curmudgeonly owner of XP10. Lets see what this baby can do. -Greg (*Apologies if this was noted elsewhere already)

After a few weeks of horsing around with WED, I am now getting ready to apply what I've learned to a legitimate project. I have some ideas for objects which could/should be included in the default XP10 object libraries. These items will expand the palette of an airport designer, and by having them in the default library it will allow for enhanced visuals at stock airports, should designers take advantage of them. Hangars - While there is a decent selection of hangars in the WED library at this time, many of them include attached grass, parking lots, and cars. This inclusion of ancillary objects is not ideal in all circumstances and I feel I would find myself wanting …

Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum and I am looking for some advice regarding simplugins for X-plane 9 from someone that has some familiarity with these things. I am using a Phidget 8 servo controller operating Hitech 422s servos. I have installed the Phidget Library 21, the latest .net Framework and the PhidgetAdvancedServo plugin from simplugins.com. Here's the problem: I am able to use the Phidget Control Panel to operate the servos. I can also run the test sequence on the plugin control panel. (This causes the servos to go through a test cycle twice) I wish to use the plugin on the same computer that x-plane is installed on rather than two networked computers. C…

Anybody have any experience with Xplane in a homemade cockpit? Kind of impressed with Xplane's GA performance and oddly enough most of my gear works pretty well and in some cases better. I'm looking at external gauge programs. I've tested XPX with XPUIPC and my PM GAIFR and worked great, read that it should work with Aerosystems AU 737 program, but couldn't get XPX to work, but XP9 did, odd. What I'm looking for is an external GNS 430/530 program. So I've been checking out flythissim's simavio, but not much info is available on how good or bad it is. Does anyone know of any other XPX programs for cockpit builders?

Hi All Just wondering if somebody can help regarding the light objects in the WED library. Under 'lib - airport - lights' it has two folders of objects, one called 'fast' and one called 'slow' and the folders seem to list the same objects. What is the difference in using fast or slow? I hope somebody can explain.

OK guys, I'm an avid FSX simmer and more or less happy with my setup. However, I am never one to say never, and while I initially didn't consider XP10 I am now actually open to at least the idea of considering the new platform. I have to say, I get pretty fed up with the blurries and low frames at some airports and it seems I spend most of my time tweaking and fiddling! So, can anyone provide me with an idea of the benefits of a switch to XP from FSX. I have to say that while I see a lot of good scenery, lots of it appears to be photosceneries, which I don't particularly care for. I don't like the clouds in XP10 either, which IMO look awful. So what is the opinion of anyo…

Hahaha, this is FREEWARE using the Lego brick and scenery elements that Tom Kyler's been talking about. Fantastic stuff! Then we hear about X Aviations new Wilmington International development: http://xsimreviews.com/2012/07/19/wip-alert-kilm-wilmington-international-in-the-pipeline-from-x-aviation/ Chip's detailed article on KLFT here: http://xsimreviews.com/2012/07/19/xp10reviews-19-july-2012/ Oh bugger, it's 3am here. Just had a wonderful short flight with no intended reason except to get my settings right and found myself in an environment that I just HAD to share. With all the improvements of XP10 and instability and getting your settings back to where you can enjoy your flights, it can get a little hectic and you may gloss over some things. I was in that very same state when something in my head went "Damn, is that a screenshot or a photo?" XP has its faults, but it's strengths are often glossed over. I see a variety of membership here and see a good amount of them as "glass is half empty" personalities. If XP doesn't have every single thing they want in a sim, they're just …
