I have an icy Archer III with RC1 :-( Any suggestions? It allways loads like this, no matter what weather conditions we've got...

  4. On many occasions, when testing X-Plane9, and recently before taking the plunge to version 10 as well, I somehow avoided the "Artificial Stability" sliders... I even remember considering worthless trying any models using artificial stability active in their "air" files... Somehow I (stupidly) thought to myself... Well, if the sim is supposed to be a realistic flight sim platform, than any artificial stability will only detract from reality... I believe I even saw coments from MSFS users regarding how unrealistic after all the behind the scenes is in X-Plane when this sort of stability augmentation is used to make the aircraft easier to fly. Well, presently I "…

I find in beta 11 the planes are now doing a much more realistic yaw instead of banking hard left on takeoff. Before beta 11, I found most of the planes would start banking immediately after leaving the ground, some more so than others but almost all of them would exhibit this behavior, which prompted me to map rocker switches 3 and 4 on my CH Flight Sim Yoke to aileron control with button 2 set for aileron center. I did this because no amount of rudder input would keep the plane from banking. Now I find even the default Cessna 172 SP will hold level with the proper amount of right rudder input. This prompted me to map switches 3 and 4 to the rudder trim, and with just a …

Just had to purchase the 777. Seems really nice but doesn't seem to work with b11. I know it isn't supposed to either, but has anyone heard anything about when the betas are over? Reverting to rc5 doesn't seem like an alternative as I think the betas have been working quite ok. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  7. Started by CarlosF,

I've been trying the demo for a few weeks now and finally think that with the latest betas this sim is better and better and quite smooth. I don't have a high end computer but with my settings I manage around 35 to 50 fpm so I happy with this, but one thing I find odd are the ground textures. see links http://imageshack.us...s/204/xp10.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/253/xp10settings.jpg/ Is anybody else having this problem? This is happening since day one and has nothing to do the be beta process, at least on my end. thanks Carlos

JCOMM: Hi, good afternoon, allow me to ask you something about your agricultural flyer :-) PILOT: Go ahead! JCOMM: Now, there's this flight simulator, you know, one of those programs used in PCs for simulating flight, just like Microsoft Flight Simulator you probably heard about... And... the one I am using now has some rather peculiar tendency to make prop aircraft bank left when the prop rotates just like the one in your aircraft, but showing almost no yaw to the left after takeoff. Also, when you reduce throttle you'll notice a right bank tendency(*)... Since I am from the gliders team, I really don't know if it is ok? PILOT: No, no bank, just some yaw and …

Hi All, I downloaded the Xplane demo and flew the 747 from KSEA after stumbling thru the setup to try to give me some sort of a recognition of controls to what I have been flying for years, that being MS FS. My question is, Is the demo of X PLane 10 a real illustration of what the product is or is there more to the sim l will see from the full version? The demo as I have downloaded and flown is not a game changer for me. The scenery is woeful from the KSEA area and the model of the 747 and graphics are not going to get me to even consider making the switch to X-Plane. I am not trying to insult anyone or trying to put the product down, I am just relaying my first impressi…

Different add-on aircraft can use Gizmo or other plugins, and I am aware (I was told) there are possble conflicts. Presently Gizmo is my only pluggin (came with the LES dc-3), but I wonder what's the best way to manage things when differnt conflicting plugins get installed. I can write a script to rename their folders, etc... but most of you probably already have better solutions (?)

  14. Some 10-15 years ago I invested a lot in MSFS FD internals. I had a great teacher, a master in the internals of that simulation platform, Ronal Freimuth, who passed away in 2006. I exchanged with him tons (to use a typical X-Plane UI term...) of impoirtant material, many of which I lost on a disk crash around 2007. I spent hours tweaking many payware and freeware aircraft, for my own, and a few friends use, and some even got into the commercial side - a couple of helicopters sold by a well known European simulation publisher, and two Airbus familiy products where I spent most of the time tweaking the turbofan parameters and they eventualy got integrated into the f…

I had to share this moment of satisfaction with you :-) Yesterday I finally got the chance to try what I couldn't resist trying - LM P3D. I was reading every positive post on that platform, and, I wondered how good it really might be, so, I decided to subscribe for 1 month - it would have been more than sufficient for me to test... A morning and 4 hours last night were more than sufficient to re-enforce my decision regarding the "adoption" of x-plane10 as my sim! While I have to recognize that LM-P3D is a major step forward in performance, and even on such aspects as default landclass and auto-gen for the default World, painting deserts in FSX to very acceptable…

  16. Using my LES DC-3, I will have the greatest time reproducing the "Colonial Routes" that TAP (the old Airline of Portugal) used between Lisbon and Luanda - Angola, Lourenço Marques - Moçambique. I'll try to use the same timetables and routes used by TAP, and am now collecting historical material about it. Then the An-24 and learning those "weird" Russian navigation techniques will follow, that turn around in Russia :-) I've also heard bush flying and mountain flying can be really rewarding in X-Plane, with some excellent scenery areas for it... This all, plus the glider flying that also works great, using the default thermal and slope winds model, will cert…

  17. I have space in my hangar for one of this.... and I have to commemorate being now a PROUD x-plane10 user, so..... having in mind that I only have x-plane10 ( I never bought x-plane9 ), which of the three will be better tailored for this platform? I know they're different, very different, but I like the three almost equally, and I am really not interested in airliners/commuters, so, what would you recommend?

  22. Started by jcomm,

After about 1 week with x-plane10, my fears of dissatisfaction are definitely gone! I have seen other users coming in, some times rather enthusiastically, and then quit after a while, and I was really worried this could end up happening to me... Quite the opposite as a mater of fact... While I grow conscious of the things I would really like to see fixed or added to the sim, I also acknowledge why it stands above the competition in many aspects. Yesterday I met stuttering for the first time while approaching Berlin Tempelhof with a Berlin town full of buildings populated with OSM2XP. Yes my fps dropped to 11-12, but even low fps in x-plane10 is so different from …

With the RW Weather, or it's maybe only a coincidence, but I have experimented with a few airports around the World and even in areas with intense precipitation, stronger winds... there was never any turbulence or strong shear.... Very interesting!!!! I don't know where from X-Plane10 downloads it's weather data, if it is from LM servers or directly from NOAA (???) I'll keep trying to find out more about it... :-)
