  1. Because Microsoft decided to drop Flight Simulator, I decided to purchase X-Plane v10 to support continued development. At any rate, my concern is with the modeling of systems within an aircraft. For instance, with the default Cessna 172 in a "cold and dark" state, ATC could still be heard. The battery, avionics, alternator, etc., were all off. Also, when I was on the ground at KBPT, I started changing frequencies, and I was able to listen to ATIS information from KSGR -- which is too far away to be heard from the ground at KBPT.

Where do I place the "opensceneries" for osm2xp to install? To be more precise, when I go to http://scenery.osm2xp.com/ those are final, ready to place in "custom scenery" files, or complements that I have to assemble into a scenery using osm2xp_2.02? Thx in advance ;-)

I could not resist. I set down right behind an 18 wheeler with a VW jetta to right. cruised for about a mile and there was an overpass. The overpass was laying right on the freeway. The VeeDub and the 18 wheeler went right through it but I plowed right into it head on. Sorry but I got a little bored. No AI traffic, no boats, no ground vehicles at the airport so I decided to do it. I now have found a new challenge. Bob

  6. Hello, You may know the tool i'm working on, osm2xp, which let you generate flight simulator scenery using openStreetMap data. I started this project more than a year ago, a simple command line xplane scenery generator proof of concept, with the help of people on x-plane.fr forum. During last year i added a user interface, more complex scenery generation, and did all i could to "open" the tool to users, with customizable textures, scenery generation "rules". I also layered the code to make the support of other simulators/modes as easy as possible, permitting the support of Fly!Legacy, and a little (buggy) fsx mode. My opinion on the current state of os…

Release Notes: X-Plane 10.10 Beta 5 We now support devices with an insane number of buttons and axis like the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog (That thing is an insane beast). Improved consistency in views. Right click and scroll are now used everywhere for camera movement and zoom respectively. Implemented Quick-Look view commands to allow users to save predefined views on a per-aircraft basis. See discussion here. OBJ File Format Extensions - docs coming soon! ATTR_no_shadow disables shadows for just one part of an OBJ; polygon-offset (ATTR_poly_os) geometry now works this way too. A new pixel-based manipulator lets you define drags that work horizontally …

Does anyone know if COM2 is working in X-Plane 10 (10.10. beta 5)? I tried it with a couple of planes (Carenado C208, Carenado Bonanza, CRJ-200) and wasn't able to contact ATC using COM2. COM1 works fine but since it is integrated into the poor GNS430 (GA's) I would prefer to use the Bendix COM2, which is much easier to read and manipulate. Thanks for any help or information Flo

  9. As the xp.org forum with all the answers has been down at least 8h so I'm runnin out of patience! Anyway.. Im trying to design a (sort of) small scenarey. It's basically just a helipad but with some elaborate town-forrest-harbour-park-tower area around it. The helipad is also very wrong placed which is the frustrated (well) reason behind this endevour. The main issue is I'm confused how osm2xp, OE and WED is suposed to work together. 1. I download and convert the OSM area of my interest with osm2xp (v2.02) and hence also getting the XP file structure in the Custom Scenery Folder. As always getting conversion warnings but having tried several versions of osm2xp…

  10. Hi X-Simmers, I recently made the switch from FSX to X Plane 10! I purchased X Plane 10 - North America for flight training purposes but I've noticed that airports are not displaying buildings/gates and taxi way signs. Suggestions? In the settings menu I have airport scenery set to "high". Thanks, - S

  11. Good afternoon, I've been doing some work on my local airport for eventual inclusion in the master XP10 airport database. I've used only WED and the included object libraries to outfit a far more reasonable facsimile of T.F. Green Airport (KPVD) in Warwick, RI. I need another set of eyes to check my work to make sure I'm following most X-Plane protocols and best practices for design. I'm pretty sure I've followed most reasonable and known steps, but since I'm brand new to this, I'm seeking some assistance. Knowledge of the airport itself isn't necessary - just knowledge of how an airport in X-Plane should look. This requires X-Plane 10.10, as I used some of th…

I remember seeing videos where the headlights from road traffic could be seen during the evenings. In my sim, i can see that they are on, but I don't see those light beams on the roads. And I kinda remember seeing them in the demo. Must've been some setting I turned off or turned down in rendering. Anybody know what that setting might be? Cheers and thanks!! Charan

  15. Hi everybody, I just started using X-plane and although most things are quite straight-forward, I'm having trouble figuring some things out. 1 - Since I'm using the main X-plane PC as a 'visual system', I want the view to always be 'full screen without HUD' (or SHIFT+W). But when I start X-plane, it always starts up with the instrument panel in the screen. I can press SHIFT+W to get the full screen view (without panel), but when I reposition the aircraft the panel returns and I have to press SHIFT+W again. I just want it to stay in full screen view. Is there any way to do this? 2 - Does anybody have any experience with the built-in instructor panel? I'm thinki…

  16. Hi, I've recently been flying online in XP 10 via VATSIM in the default 747. The first few flights I had done were fine with no problems, I went on holiday for 10 days but when came back I encountered a problem with the 747. The problem was that if I had the V/S Selector on in the autopilot, e.g. I was climbing. If I tried to turn the Autothrottle on to the SPD Setting while the V/S Selector was on, the V/S Selector would disengage . So I can only fly with either the V/S on or the autothrottle on but it won't let me have both of them on at the same time. I use the xFMC plugin but this wouldn't be the problem because I've flown with this plugin before the problem.…

It’s a Pitts ....great....err no. This is the second such aircraft I have been disappointed with the previous being an Extra. I am sure that to (flight) model these type of aircraft is extremely difficult and under appreciated. We can all go OOH AAH at what we see an FMC doing or how many buttons we need to press to get the galley coffee machine working; these are obvious, visible. Not so the subtle variation in the effects of propwash or roll rates at different speeds. The ground roll in this creation is about as demanding as a Cessna 152. My suspicion is in the rush to cross -port , the same stability augmentation dynamics have been applied as with the lovely B…

I started playing around with the "Show sky colors" option under the "Special" pulldown menu. There are several choices and I dont know if using real weather uses these or if its just user preference. I love sunset and Sunrise in X-plane 10, but for my area (New York) the sky is rarely such a beautiful orage hue, but more like muddled polution and smog with a hint of orange. ( I can say that cause i live here, lol). Anyhow, In playing with these presets, I found "Hazy" to be a lot closer to reality for a big US city, even though its not as pretty. It goes back to default whenever I re-start XP which is fine. Just wanted to know if anyone else uses this feature. Wh…

Any help or guide from LR would be much appreciated and help a lot to bring more FSX users to X-Plane.Why don't we use this topic to discuss and find help on any such problems?Below is the problem that i have right now:What I'm trying to achive is to use mouse the same way as it works in FSX for camera movements in Virtual Cockpits. So, is it possible to setup it this way:You press and hold Space button on your keyboard and while you hold it, you can use mouse to view around in the Virtual Cockpit.
