This was discussed a while back, but I thought with the recent string of beta releases, it deserves another look. I haven't been able to do any flying in quite some time due to work and home obligations, but I've been able to find some time recently. It was after leveling off at FL330 in CAVOK conditions that the issue was brought into sharp relief. I searched the web looking for updated info on this issue, and there hasn't been any mention of it outside of the past discussions on it. So, I thought I'd bring it up again, and ask where this issue ranks in the "stuff to address" priority. In the previous discussion, I saw a lot of... well, with all due respect, deni…

I'm looking at buying XP-10 down the road (not ready yet) but I would like to know who are the 3PD who are and will be making addons for XP-10, if this is not a secret or is it?

They still look odd to me and I would rather not see them than have to see them placed the way they are now. Following the river out of LOWI would be a 100 times better for me if they were not there, Thanks,Rob

Hey guys I am in a unique position here. I have XPX up and running and am very happy with the results thus far. But... in a unique situation(for most FSX users anyway) I noticed the system is now graphic-card limited. I have two options to use in my main simming rig. 2 ATI 6990s in Quad-fire/SLI or 2 GTX 580s in SLI I am currently using the 580 and SLI works quite nicely giving a big boost in performance, but the cards run HOT and LOUD. Would the 4 GPUs in the 2 6990s be a better choice? I know that XPX had a problem with cloud rendering with ATI cards, is that fixed or still a problem? Thanks.

Hi all I am dipping my toes into xplane scenry design having spent 20 years with Microsoft and Gmax. I am finding it all a bit daunting especially as I have created various libraries with over 100 objects. Converting them to work with xplane is daunting. I am at the moment looking at sketch up, I have downloaded the plug in files to convert to xplane and have placed them in my plugins folder. i have then created a simple box, the instuctions then say `Choose File → Export X-Plane Object', I have no such choice, anyone know where I have gone wrong. Cheer. Neil

The more I use it, the more I like it... Just thoughts, feelings put into words, no screens yet ..... I have been playing around with the rendering settings, trying to see up to where I can go without stuttering, and I am speechless ! I can't even imagine the amount I would have to spend in the most detailed and fully featured add-ons for FSX to get the same amount of detail and realism I get, specially flying at night! Well, but also at any other time of day. Smooth as silk, since the install - no problems, no crashes so far. Next will be some adjustment to my X52-Pro sensitivities, because I am using the default settings. Not that I can complain, but…

I have two laptop, the oldest is Gateway P-7811FX, the newest is ASUS N73JN. You will find the exact specification in the internet. In the 3D graphics, the oldest should has around 288 gFlops, the newest has 233 gFlops; but in the X-plane, the first shows 22-24 FPS, the last shows 50 FPS, therefore the oldest should has around 61 FPS. But I checked the comparison of the nVidia graphics cards in the Wiki. According of this article, it is written that 9800m GTS has 51.6 GB/s memory bandwidth and GT 335M has 25.6 GB/s, so I think that it is the answer.

Hi guys. Now that X-plane 10 has become a serious contender in the market, as their panels and aircraft/gauge creation, and flying models are great. I was considering going over to that from FSX. But (isn't there always one of them), with the implementation of the ORBX FTX scenery, I have reservations, as the FTX. Scenery is amazing. ORBX have stated they are not doing X-plane versions, but, is there a solution, as many simmers generally find a way? My thoughts (for what it's worth). We have plugins for things such as networking and information sharing, such as Wideview, FSUIPC, GPSOut, etc. Would it be possible to have a networked output string, parsed with the …

Guys, need your advice to buy the most complete, accurate, gorgeous GA single or twin to go with xplane10. I just jave the money for a single model. Xplane10 WAS EXPENSIVE!!!!! and the default aicraft on this Beta6 while really not that bad certainly fall far from what XP can give me ;-) Any suggestions, preferably identifying the URL of the make/seller welcomed!

Just in case you guys missed this- http://xsimreviews.com/2012/08/10/alertworld-traffic-plugin-for-x-plane/#more-20238 “Fill the X-Plane skies and airports with hundreds of planes. See www.classicjetsims.com for future updates. World Traffic lets you create simple flight plans for single aircraft flights or for multiple aircraft formation flights. Ground route files can be created to guide aircraft to or from parking spots. A flight plan consists of a start time (can also be immediate or random), aircraft type/s, departure/arrival airports, waypoints, and arrival type. A flight plan may be as simple as having only a departure and arrival airport. The plugin will creat…

I have to report that probably because of the modifications to sidelsip introduced starting beta 6 last week, while testing the default As-K21 I was positively impressed with the overall modelling of sideslip that glider! I had previously reporter some inaccuracies, so, it's to know it is getting even better :-) I often use that manouver in RL, and it behaves rather realistically now in x-plane10, including the sensation of running out of aileron towards the slip when full rudder deflection is used :-) And.... - SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTHNESS, out of windshield and inside cockpit. Crystal clear instruments on the various models, gauges that move like silk.…

I am really enjoying Xplane10 - I am!!!! At last I believe I made my mind about the highly complex and fully featured simulation platform that Xplane is. When I tried the very first versions of xplane it had something that already attracted me (less the price, around $700 by that time...). It was smooth when compared to my fs5, and had weather modelling features such as rain/snow/contaminated runways and some really new to me effects that I could only wish to see implemented in the much cheaper MSFS game... Today's xplane is affordable, and although I have considered it expensive (when compared to fsx Gold bought through GFWL - around $23), I was really not consid…

I've got a personal problem with the visual aspect of simulating flight. I have a hard time feeling like I'm operating an aircraft when, for example, the perspective of a panel is not realistic from the view of the left seat. Because of this, I've deprived myself of well regarded aircraft, such as the QPAC Airbus A320, and of course, the thread topic, the x737. I've decided it's time to get over that. In the end, it's still about operating an aircraft correctly in order to execute a flight, and this prejudice against odd panel perspectives is only limiting me. So, with that said, I'm going to look into the x737, and I'm wondering if any of you with experience with thi…

I'm looking to start populating my X-world, and I was wondering if there are any stand-out sceneries that deserve checking out. I'm mainly interested in freeware at the moment, but payware suggestions are welcome, too. I'm thinking more in the way of detailed local areas, vs. say, an OSM conversion. I've got plenty of those right now. :D Just want to get some airports to fly to. With time constraints, designing my own is out right now. I only have time to fly or create. Would rather fly at the moment. Thanks!

Ive been trying different cloud textures that people have created. (Maybe Ill try to make my own someday,) Some look better from a distance, but loose that 3d feeling when you fly through them. Anyhow, after trying them all, Ive settled on the Cloudmaxx clouds. they seem to look a little better than the default and still keep that 3d look when you pass through them. No impact on FPS that I can see. They are free, and you can get them here: http://maxx-xp.hiking-pa.com/?page_id=147 Rob

Hi there, new face on the forums here, but I've used this site for god knows how long for FS downloads. Let me cut to the chase. I'm getting back into my flight simming ever since I built a great computer that can run things flawlessly. I have FSX and I've enjoyed it and all the previous titles. However, I've seen X-Plane and with MS cutting future FS games I'm wondering if I should step into this world of flight simming. I would like to know some of the pro's and cons of the gameplay between the two. I enjoy airline simming and all the little real world details that go into commercial jet operations. Would X-Plane provide a better experience as a base game or wit…
