Memory - RAM - I mean... This morning I had my 1st X-Plane10 crash :-( Well, I think I was asking for it, specially after yesterday having posted on a thread here at the forum that I never had a CTD running X-Plane10 on either WinXP-32bit or Win7-64bit... I believe most of you acknowledge that, starting 10.10 RC1, there were notorious differences to the way X-Plane10 translates METAR data into it's weather datarefs. Previous to version 10.10RC1 it was almost impossible to rely on RWW for flying because even the faintest variable winds would get translated into shear and turbulence levels making us fight tornado weather instead of what was shown in the METAR. I have been running several tests using RWW in 10.10RC2 and all I can say is that this turn around Austin nailed it! "Microsoft" announced today the "end of support" for FSX. After closing the door on the MS FLIGHT project and it's dedicated users ( your's truly included, and a great fan of it... ), this is what was expected. So... be ready for new guests! I hope so!!!! X-Plane will only get better!

I know that his problem has been discussed before but in all the other forum threads that i have read everyone just says to increase the field of view. However i have tried doing this and yes it helps a little bit but it also distorts the image. The only ways i could think of ti solve this problem would be to 1: just zoom out more like in FSX. In FSX you can zoom out to less than 1X zoom. 2: Move the actual seat in the 3D cockpit backwards . This would alow me to move the cammera backwards with the , key more without the camera going behind the seat. is it posable that i could change a file for a plane to make it zoom less? Any help would be apriciiated.

Is there a nice guide on how to properly setup and configure XFX just as Word Not Allowed's tweak for FSX? I want to give the demo a try but seeing how there are so many options as far as display options, I was quite overwhelmed. What would be the proper way to set it up for one's particular system? My PC stats are under my profile. Thanks!

I have leraned to move the Gizmo folder from "Plugins" whenever I am not using the LES dc-3, so that I can use, for instance, the Carenado Seneca, but, question is: - When I move back the Gizmo.plugin folder into my Plugins, under Resources, and start the dc-3, will it not interfere with the other plugins during dc-3 use?

I know I know you're probaly thinking why didn't he just buy the Global Edition. Bought Regional Edition because I was a bit low on money but I should have waited. I just got my copy of the Global upgrade yesterday and installed it expecting the default aerosoft airports in europe but NOPE. I tried redownloading the 10.05r1 patch and still nothing and went back to 10.10r2 patch. So now I'm assuming I will have to buy the Global Edition just to get the default aerosoft airports I mean the 22 default airports. That's another 70 dollars just to get 22 airports *sigh* kinda makes me a bit angry, Oh well I guess.

Got their newsletter today and it looks like McPhat Studios sent their ATR to Aerosoft to get ready for release. Hope it comes out soon, it looks amazing!

I recently stumbled upon the XPFW Ai sets (747,777,765,757 ect.), they work like a charm, I now run 7 AI planes with almost no FPS hit on a 2.8 i7. But of course they have random call signs in the ATC, probably the tail number. How can I change them to specific flight numbers? I was looking in the Plane Maker and didn't find anything. Any help appreciated.

Not that excellent web-book by John Denker but rather by using CTRL-M in X-Plane10... It is amusing, and if you get out and use i.e. SHIFT-8 for chase view, you'll be able to visualise the various lift forces, wind vectors, drags, around your aircraft. In MS FLIGHT I really appreciated being able to see the control surfaces move when flying hands-off under turbulent situations. I believe this was at least not visible in previous versions of MSFS. Well, I had to check it in X-Plane10, and, there it is too :-) If you take, say, your Cessna for a bumpy ride under turbulence or shear, showing your control command deflections as well as your control surface deflect…

Working Traffic Lights!!

So it all started with the desire to see what the locale of the infamous FSX "Magic Screenshot" looked like in X-Plane 10. Observe: Not too bad, eh? Except that's with trees set at "Treehugger". So now I'm wondering how hard it is to spread out a little foliage with WED and/or the Overlay Editor. Can you set large swathes of land for coverage, or do they have to be placed one by one?

I'm still fiddling around with it, but Sandy Barbour made a flight data recorder plugin for X-Plane about 9 years ago that still seems to work for the most part in XPX, including with the 777. Unlike the default XPX replay feature, you can change the weather and time of day, since the plugin just records the flight information itself and not the state of the sim as a whole. There's some stuttering present, but I'm wondering if that can be fixed by recording the flight data with barebones graphics settings and then replaying with something more presentable. Hi, I am training on a C172. Was wondering, if there was any really good Cessna 172's for X-plane? I don't own the newest X-P but if a good one (FDE is the most important thing) exists, no problem in getting the sim. Tero

This is probably a stupid question, but I can't seem to find the answer in any type of search. Other than waiting until I get to a "goal" altitude and hitting ALT to hold it, how do I set the altitude at which I want to fly while, for instance, still on the ground? I read lots of stuff about setting the altitude and "arming" the ALT, but I don't see any way to alter whatever is displayed. I am trying to move over to X-Plane and am enjoying the experience, but this is one I can't seem to figure out. Thanks in advance for the help I know will be coming my way. John

Having trouble steering default Cessna 172 while taxiing using Saitek joystick. Am assuming steering is accomplished by twisting joystick as in FSX. Help and Thanks.

I just installed a new motherboard, cpu etc. and am reinstalling X-Plane 10. I downloaded the latest installer and the installation went fine except when installing scenery. I selected scenery for the West Coast of North America to be installed, the installer initially asked for DVD number 3 to be placed in the DVD drive. I put it in, Windows 7 recognizes it, but the scenery installation just keeps asking for the DVD and never installs any scenery from it. I have tried it several times always with the same result. I have had absolutely no problems with the DVD or the new computer. I have installed tons of software up to this point from the DVD with no problems of…

I recently build a Hackintosh on my exisiting AMD system, though I haven't still tried XP10 on a mac. Just want to let users who are on a mac system know about linuxtrack a mac based facetracking which needs a x plane plugin. I will be trying XP10 on hackintosh once I receive my card back from replacement.

As above? Tried out the XPX demo last night and have a few thoughts about it.

There were tears. It looked so good but I couldn’t even open the doors to load it! SHFT F2-3 did nothing SHFT F1 brought me back to the cockpit and SHFT F4 brought up the PilotView. I checked the control/buttons page (this all in 9.70) . No conflicts, what to do ? Sounds like a job for.....XPAddOn Manager. Using this to temporarily prevent the PilotView and Gizmo plugins to load and .......the romance was back on. Triple 777 what a beauty !! So if you’ve never heard of XPAddOnManager....you have now. For me the most important program after the core simulator. TIM (Please note your mileage may differ.)
