As I'm new to X-Plane 10 can I ask if there is any guidance on using ATC? You are given an Altimeter setting (Hg ins instead of the more normal minibar for UK) and a height to fly. Despite setting the altimeter correctly, ATC keeps nagging you that you are to low or high. It can be out by up to 500ft. Also after entering a Flight Plan you get takeoff clearance with an inappropriate heading away from your first beacon heading. After takeoff you get handed over to an area controller who then says you are off course but with no mention of what the correct heading is. Turning onto the first NDB bearing normally shuts the area controller up. What should one do?

I don't mind being a Guinea Pig, so I downloaded and installed the Windows 8 consumer preview (against my better judgment) over my Win 7 ultimate 64 bit. It took about a 1/2 hour and several reboots, but everything is working fine, including X-plane 10. No increase in FPS with Win 8 and its running stable, but so was win 7. I don't care much for the Metro desktop thing, but you don't have to use it and my desktop looks and works pretty much the same as before. The only thing I had to do was re-install my sound card drivers and downloaded Win 8 64bit version of the latest Nvidia drivers. Bottom line, if your using Win 7 and have no problems, Win 8 wont do much more for …

Hey Guys, I am trying to assign some functions in the cockpit to some un used keys on the keyboard. I have assingned the obs knobs for nav one and two up and down already, would like to do the same for the hedge bug but I am not able to find a listing for it in the menu to assign a keystroke to it. Hi guys. Having the weekend off (the girlfriend is out of town) I have decided to try out the 64bit beta. However I dont want to ruin my currently stable 10.10 so I was thinking... Is it possible to just copy the xpx directory to another location and update just that directory? Will my 3rd party aircraft still function in this or am I boud to mess everything up? Edit: Worst. This is probably old news, but I just had a chance to try this out today and I really like it. Truscenery has released a free orthoscenery file and OSM for Finland which combined with their EFHV airport scenery, really looks great IMO. Hello and new here. Looks like a great place. I just bought a steam gage ifr equipped RV9A. I want a decent flight sim. With the experts here...should I get X-Plane or FSX? Processor speed is a non issue for my home pc. I want to fly simulated IFR cconditions prior to my formal IFR training, as well as keeping sharp inbetween times. I do have the iFly 720 which I'm pretty sure can be coupled with x-plane...unsure of fsx. Thx for the advice...DM

Hi! Any user of X-plane who can show me the look of Froson airport i your sim, or somewhere i Sweden? I ask you because i'm thinking of trying X-Plane. My hardware is not enough för FSX or Flight, but it might work on X-Plane, from what I see in requierments. I have FS9 and I've tried my friend's FSX. I haven't been able to try X-Plane, which looks good on screeshoots, mostly from US. I'm very content whith FS9 and my favourite propliners and places, but not satisfied with FSX and MS Flight. Propliner would be may habit in X-Plane. Bushflight cargo in Alaska or northern Sweden maybe? Waiting for your answers. BP

Just curious what impact 64 bit will have on currently "in development" add-on's. There are a number of planes and scenery add-on's I've been waiting for. Some close to release, others still a ways off. I wonder if they will be delayed or pushed back now due to developers having to do last min conversions of plugins etc. Are we going to enter a dry spell for a while with new add-on's? I have no idea what's involved, just curiosity on my part. Its like a drug, I need my next fix! Rob

Just installed 10.20b2 still no sound, is it just me or are others having the same problem?

Have just purchased X Plane 10.. Only have enough disk space on a second hard drive (D:) So want to install it there.. Do I just change the source drive from C: to D: or should I create another folder on D: to accomodate it? Thanks John

Just a short note to let you folks know that I contacted the author of XPUIPC today and he indicated that he is working on the 64 bit version of XPUIPC. Sure miss my moving map on Plan-G, in 64 bit that is, 32 bit of ok of course. Chuck

Hi all, I have installed XP 10 + updates in Ubuntu Quantal 64 bit. I am using a HD 7750 2GB with Catalyst 12.11 Beta , I am not getting good frames and I have the HD 7750 enjoying high settings. If I run XP 10 in Win 7 with Catalyst 12.11 Beta I get very nice fps , what I noticed was a jump from 40s to 55s . I am wondering if anyone of you fellows is running XP 10 in Linux on an AMD card and enjoying the frame rates. Please do let me know.

This may just be the best GA add-on aircraft I've bought, ever! What a great plane! The new sound system is outstanding, making the experience much more realistic. Great flight dynamics and textures round it off very nicely. Highly recommend this plane to someone who might not be so sure yet. Tim

Hi Guys, I am new to X-Plane and need performance advise before I buy one these fine Payware Airliners that I have found for Xplane 9 & 10: - Peter's A380 - B777 WorldLiner Pro - Jrollon CRJ I am currently playing XP9 and my specs are: - AMD Phenom II X4 955BE (OC 3.8Ghz) - 8Gb ram - 2 x ATI 4850 (X-Fire) I know that all of these aircraft are at the top of their league when it comes to complex system modelling so the only thing I want to confirm is their performance in 3D Cockpit (FPS wise). As the plane with the best FPS will win for me as I will enjoy it more (instead of worrying about performance). So can you tell me which one of the above (…
