I recently saw a large fresnel lens for sale on a flight sim web site but now I can't find it. It had a nice stand and could handle monitors up to 21" and the cost was about $300 or so. Anyone know where I can find it (so I can let Santa know!)? Has anyone tried it? I'm concerned that the image might be blurry. ThanksDavid

Hi guys,I have an itch for an upgrade. But will it make sense with my ole XP3200+ @210 MHz FSB?I would hate to see almost no noticable difference. I am running two monitors one at 1536x960 (16:10) and the other one at 1024x768 so there are a lot of pixels to render.Alex

Hi there everyone - I am currently running a PIII 1000MHz pc with win 2000 prof and a 64Mb Radeon 7200 graphics card (on the system properties, it says i have 261Mb or RAM, so im guessing thats really 256Mb?). Whilst this is normally ok to cope with FS2004 and PSS A320/A340, I am finding that I am experiencing low frame rates (in the 4's and 5's) when taxying around with alot of traffic on (PAI and others). This is not too bad when i'm flying as I normally get around 15 - 20 fps. I unfortunately cannot start or especially end a flight at an airport with alot of traffic because of this low fps.I am considering purchasing a new graphics card (128Mb or even higher) to hel…

I'm having a computer built locally. I'm not nearly so interested in great sound as I am great video in FS9, so I don't want to put my money into a great sound card. My builder says to go with on-board sound (AMD 3500+ socket 939 mobo) and it will be pretty good. My main concern is that that might slow the system somewhat. Would a separate sound card be better for the system, aside from the better sound? If so, any recommendations for the best value in a sound card? Thanks,Rego

I have just about worn out my fifth (or is it sixth?) joystick. And I will be shopping. Are there any Two or Four throttle controls out there yet?

Hi there forum!Well,as you can see in the subject, this is what fs9 keeps saying everytime I load fs9.To be precise,an error message appears, and says "your pc has run out of available memory.Fs will now exit. You may not have enough free space on your hard drive.Try to run disk cleanup, and then reestart FS.".But the solution is not so easy,

Question; under my device manager tab, I click on Display adapters and I show one as RADEON 9800 Pro and the other as RADEON 980 Pro- Secondary? Why is that? I have only one card. Both show this under properties: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0. The only difference is that the one that is listed as secondary has a 1 after function? Thanks

HI ALL:Can someone make a sincere recommendation related to purcxhasing a new graphics card that will truly enhance my FS9 experience?I do not require alot of technical information but simply a recommendation for a simple upgrade to my system to run FS9 better. My current system is a Dell Dimension 2100; 1.1Ghz; 37.21GB Capacity; Intel Graphics Controller 82810; Creative SB Live; RAM 256MB.In FS I can only run it at 800x for the display and hve to pretty well turn everything down to get a respectable frame rate. The cockpits are not that great as I cannot go to the higher 1024x settings in display.I would rather not get a new computer at this time.PLEASE-just a straightfor…

Hi folks,I have a problem that I've been fighting for weeks, and am trying to figure out a way around it. Briefly, I have two PCs more or less dedicated to flight simming/gaming. They are in my basement, and running Cat5 cable from my internet gateway box to the basement would be difficult/painful. The internet gateway (a 2Wire Home Portal box) has a wireless 802.11b capability but the basement PCs, due to distance and walls, have a hard time getting a reliable connection via wireless. So I tried HPNA (phone line networking), since the Home Portal has that built-in, and ONE of the PCs (an HP Pavilion 2.7gHz Celeron box) works fine with it. The problem is, my brand spanking…

Well, I never swapped out my Ti4600 card for what I thought I was gonna get: an MSI GeForceFX 5900XT. I wasn't sure about the real difference and whether it would be significant for FS2004. I don't have the $$ for a real heavy video card and it has to fit my DELL 8200 system without any other hardware upgrade. I did think about a 5900 Ultra, but shockingly it's about $400. I don't want to spend over $200 incl. S&H. (The really good cards are always about $400 to $500, aren't they?)When I went from my STB 16MB to ELSA 32MB card, it was a massive difference (5 years ago) and I never looked back. But it doesn't seem from reading reports and reviews that I'll have a…

Seems so many posters urge others to build a PC. Well not everyone has time, money or whatever to do it , but in any event I would like to see someone take a preconfigured Dell or Gateway as posted here and match the parts and price each item, so that we can really see the difference in cost. If possible also supply the link where the part is to be purchased. Some homework for builders. ;)Bill

This is directed to people who have and use the ATI 9800Pro.Whats it like in FS2004? Frames etc... Can you post me links to screen shots etc.. Im looking at buying the card next week.

Has anyone heard of PCIExpress (spelling?). In talking to an uber-geek, he says it is meant to replace AGP and will out-perform an AGP card.Googling it,Jim

Please check your AGP-voltage if you're using an Abit KV8-pro. It should read 1.5V, however, some bioses programmed it wrongly at 1.55V. Now, I don't know whether it's possible and therefore would appreciate comments, whether 1.55V could destroy a display adapter? I used 1.55V for about 2 months. Thanks. good luck and kind regards Jaap

Dear all, I bought what i thought would be the ultimate fs system around 14 months back. Sadly from day one it has been a dissapointment. Despite getting very acceptable frame rates i have always had a constant stuttering problem whenever i turn an aircraft(be it in the air or the ground). This problem exists in fs2002,fs2004 and cfs3.I also experience stuttering in msts. I have followed every bit of advice on the net starting from turning my anti-virus off to adding more ram. In between i have removed my sound card, pulled out and reinstalled my graphics card, messed with every possible graphics setting in my pc and downloaded every damm driver and bios updates i could l…

I have a PC with intel celeron 2.6GHZ CPU, 256MB DDR RAM, 64MB video (integrated on motherboard).I'd like to know which I should purchase first? (most bang for the buck):- 512MB RAM module (with option to add another 512mb in the future)or- GE Force 5500 PCI 128mb video card (note: there is no AGP slot on my motherboard)i use this PC mainly for FS2004, and not much else.

I am in the market for a new pc now. When i get one within a month, i will be getting eathier the ATI X800Pro or the NVidia 6800GT, both the 256MB versions. I have been working with a tech at HP and was told, even though PCI-E cards are the next big thing and are the card being put in most new systems now, AGP cards will be just as good as the PCI-E.He explained the reason they will be just as good, is that even though PCI-E is the next big thing, it is a new card that they arent as experienced with designing as they are with the AGP. He gave me a long explination about it, and what he said made plenty sence. Since money is tight right now, so is my budget. What he reccom…
