I've gone through a lot of posts looking for an answer, but don't seem to be able to find exactly what I'm looking for.I just switched from a GeForce2 MX 64mb card to a GeForce FX5600 256mb card. As you can probably guess, my frame rates are the same as before. My system is a P4 1.5GHz with 512mb RAM with Win XP.I uninstalled the old card and drivers and installed the new one. I downloaded the latest nvidia drivers from their website. FS2002 recognizes the new card, but as I said, nothing has changed at all in FS2002 or in any other game I've checked. Are there new settings I should be using somewhere within FS2002 or in Win XP?

I am using the dhauzimmer driver which works perfectly with Falcon 4, but in FS2002 I can't assign anything. Do I have to use a profile maybe? If yes, does anybody have a descent Dhauzimmer-profile for FS2002? I tried using the default FS2002 profile which comes with the SST-software but then my throttle always was at 100% and the plane was impossible to fly. Maybe it has something to do with that I didn't uninstall the dhauzimmer driver. I just switched USB port. The point is that I like the Dhauzimmer driver best as it loads the profile when you load the sim and then clears it when you exit it. But I would also appreciate a great SST profile for FS2002 as I might want t…

Hmmm...I updated my Nvidia 5200 drivers and now MSFS 2004 will no longer run. It works all the way thru loading a flight and then the computer locks up with a black screen and a mouse pointer.Advice??Thanks

I have an extra laptop that I'd like to connect to my Desktop PC to use an additional screen for the FS9 GPS. Anyone know if and how I can connect the two and use simultaneously? Thanks for your help in advance!http://www.2decker.com/media/solent1-2.JPGAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

Hi Everyone,I download and tried the new nVidia driver 6693. My experience so far on a couple of flights that this driver is much shlower and with a lot less quality than the Omaga 6177.Has anyone else tried this new version and what your results have been. I am on a P4 system with 1.8ghz system with 768K Rambus memoery and a Ti4200/64 vidio card. I went back to my Omega drivers and I am getting bery good frames and excellent textures. What have you folks found so far.Bob

I have a P4 1.6 512 MB RAM (low-end by today's standards). My graphic card is the NVIDIA FX5200 and Soundblaster Live. My monitor refresh rate is 85 Hz. The only high-performance :) software I use is FS9. I listen to music and watch videos and surf the net occasionally on it, so it's fine for me.The problem I'm having is when I run FS9 and I switch views, I'll get a stuttering sound as the texture of the landscape and the plane load. If I go into SPOT view, it takes about 6-7 seconds on third-party planes (like the POSKY 757)and 2-4 seconds on the stock FS9 aircraft. The dillema that I have is that I can only afford to replace one item for now (sound card or video car…

Everyone,Looking for an opinion here. I'm currently running a Athlon XP 2500+ (not overclocked) that has pretty much all the bells and whistles in the system (512MB ram, good cooling, SATA, DVD-RW, etc). I just purchased a GeForce 6800 (standard version) and I think I'm processor limited with it.My question is, do you think I would get a larger performance upgrade going with a socket 939 Athlon 64 3200 (which would require a new processor, MB, and cooling for about $300) or would I see the same performance increase just going with an XP 3200+ (for about $170).The reason I ask is that the "model" numbers (3200+) are the same and if I'm not going to get a cost-effective boo…

Was wondering if someone could enlighten me. I'm purchasing a new system and handing down the old one to a family member. He'd like a little more "oomph" than what the current CPU offers (AMD 2200 @ 1.8GHz). He has access to either an AMD 2700 @ 2.17GHz or an AMD 3000 Barton @ 2.16GHz and asked me for guidance; I have none to give. Is there a big difference here regarding performance, longevity etc? I'd appreciate any insight.Rick

I have a Biostar M7NCD (http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=m7ncd) and thinking about going from an XP 2400+ with 512 mb PC2700 to a 3200+ and 1 gig PC2700. I have a Radeon 9800 Pro (XT gpu). Is this a worthy upgrade? The Utra version has dual DDR (http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=m7ncd+ultra). How much faster would dual DDR be compared to the standard M7NCD?

Hi All, About this time last year I updated my system. It is now nicely optimised, thanks mainly to the advice and help of these forums; I am really pleased with it. However, due to limited physical space on my desk I kept my 15" monitor. It is running at 1028 X 748 70hz. which gives a good visual representation and is satisfactory other than the size of the viewing area.My system has a MSI K7N2 Main board; AMD Athlon 2700+ Mg Hz processor; 1 Gig Hz Ram; An nVidia FX5600 128Mg hz Graphics card. (Hope this makes sense - I'm not much at understanding the jargon:-) )I believe now that I may be able to fit in at least a 17" monitor. I wonder if any of you would be good enough…

Hi there,I was wondering if anybody knew of a process to convert a gameport version of the Virtual Pilot Pro yoke to USB. Unfortunately most new computers do not come with gameports anymore. I have tried those gameport to usb converters, however they only allow for limited functionality. Thanks,Mike

My main computer simply stopped; there was no power at all. This was a first for me--I'd come back into the room after being away for several hours to find my main computer (an Athlon 1700 XP, Windows XP Home system) completely dead. I checked all the connections and the power strip and there were no problems with those. What I found is that when I shut off the switch on the power strip, and the one on the back of the power supply, then turned them both back on and hit the power switch on the front of the case, I got a split-second of power that turned the fans a little and lit the indicator lights on the optical drives very briefly, and that was all. Hitting the powe…

I've just bought a Saitek ST330 joystick. In control panel all works well. When I go into FS98 fire buttons and general control movements work but the throttle doesn't function. Selecting calibrate simply takes me back to control panel where throttle again indicates ok. Any ideas.

...I would like to run a Dual Monitor setup. I have no idea how to go about this, could someone point me in the right direction, please? My Graphics Card is a Nvidia G4 Ti4200 which does suport what it calls nView; but only has a connector for one monitor. Looks like I will need another Graphics Card? There is a problem here as well :) I only have 1 AGP Slot on my Dell 8100 PC; but do have 2 PCI Slots spare. I have no idea what happens beyond this point.Any help would be very much appreciated.Ken,Somerset, Englandwizard01

Upgrading from an AMD 1600xp to an AMD 2600xp. When I reboot the initial BIOS display says that the CPU is an AMD 2000xp. Sandra and a utility from the CPUID site both say that it is a 2000xp. The clock rate matches the setting for a 2000xp also. My Front Side Bus is at 133mhz (max for board - ECS K7S5A)I corresponded with the retailer where I ourchased the CPU (2600xp) and they insist that I must have a 166mhz bus to run the CPU at rated speed. So the question is - do the utilities and the the BIOS at boot time show the true "name" of the CPU or do they simply look at the clock speed and match it to a name table closest to that clock speed? Also, is the reatiler telling m…
