Currently have an 80G HD on my pc (XP P4 2.53 1G RDRAM). The hd is partioned C - H. Instead of making CD or DVD backups, I would like to add another HD so I can have a mirror of mycurrent in case anything happens. Is it possible to do this and have it bootable also? Also, would you recommend an internal or is an external a possibility. Also looking for suggestions on the proper way to do what I' asking!ThanksRick

I just tried to compare DELL vs AlienWare. I Live in Canada, and the price difference is PHENOMINAL! Canadian prices for almost the exact same system were $4,900 vs $6,600AlienWare's excuse is that Dell has stores in Canada, they do not. And with AlienWare, any rebates you got while ordering, including free shipping are Nullified if you live in Canada.Just trying to save anyone up north the bother of wasting their time looking at an Alienware system in Canada.Man, I don't get that.

Last night i had to reinstall windows via windows 2000 update. I've downloaded all the critical updates and reinstalled all the drivers onto my computer. However, i cant get windows to recognize my ch products usb yoke and pedals under controllers in gaming options. The yoke and pedals are however listed under add/remove hardware and are working properly. I've tried replugging the controllers into the usb port and nothing happens. However when I uninstall them via remove hardware and replug windows finds the devices. Doing this still doesnt solve my problem. The ch products yoke and pedals are not listed under usb device or human interface device under device manager and …

Hi,this is not to offend anyone. I only want to learn from someone who really knows.A hundred times I have read the suggestion to completely uninstall all ATI drivers when switching to Nvidia and vice versa.I really would like to know if this is based on any hard facts or just the repetition of a repetition as it makes absolutely no sense to me. While it is always a good thing to keep your system lean there should be zero problems if both drivers coexist. Why in hell would a Nvidia card call for an ATI driver?Want proof? For 3 years now I had a Nvidia PCI card installed next to my ATI which obiviously requires to have both drivers installed. Never did I have any "conflict…

I need advice on the best video card to upgrade a Dell Dimension 2350 with 2GHz Celeron, 512MB memory which uses the built-in Intel Extreme Graphics. It has to be PCI because only PCI slots are available. I get about 15-18 fps with UK VFR Photographic Scenery and VFR Terrain and would like better frame rates.Helpful answers please - don't tell me I shouldn't have bought Dell or to build a new pc!

I've a Dell Dimension 2350 with 2GHz Celeron, 512MB memory and the standard built-in Intel Extreme Graphics. I want to add a separate video card. I'm told it will have to be a PCI because that's the only slot and that I will have to upgrade the BIOS from A00 to A01 to disable the built-in video. Dell's site appears inconsistent.Has anyone do this? If so would they please let me know how they did it.Regards

I do have a Linksys BEFSR41 router. I believe that I have enabled DMZ on the router correctly. Any ideas? I recently saw a large fresnel lens for sale on a flight sim web site but now I can't find it. It had a nice stand and could handle monitors up to 21" and the cost was about $300 or so. Anyone know where I can find it (so I can let Santa know!)? Has anyone tried it? I'm concerned that the image might be blurry. ThanksDavid

  17. Hi,After searching for definate answers to the ever ongoing virtual memory swapfile arguments, I would like to know the true answer. As far as I understand, the best thing is to have one swapfile placed on a partition where the FS in NOT installed. And on a partition with most available free space.?Now, I have 512 Mb memory, and when going to the swapfile manager, it tells me:Less alowed memory: 2 MbReccomended: 766 MbI have selected that Windows should manage the swopfiles on all my partitions.Should there be swapfiles on all partitions if windows manages them? Now, if I should manage the swapfile manually,...what should I do?I have FS9 installed on a F: partition, …

Hello all, I am building a new system. I've had some parts laying around for so long, I was thinking about selling, and not flight simming no more, after I was tired of dealing with the computer and such, but I think I am going to come back at it. Right now I have a lian li pc-60 case, I have an Athlon Xp 1600+ Agoia Y core chip processor, it is great for overclocking so i can probably get a 1.7ghz out of that with just air cooling, and I already have a thermaltake volcano 9+ HSF. Now I need. 1. A MOBO2. Memory3. Graphics Card4. PSU Okay now I want a system that can handle FS very well, and have great picture quality, this is one of the reasons I was discouraged to…

There's a new benchmark about FS2004 from THG.Most interesting is the performace of the Dual NV6800 Ultra (SLI) vs. a lame ATI X800 XT PE.The SLI setup simply rockz in FS2004 when it comes to burn your cash without any benefit !http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/98921.jpghttp://www.de.tomshardware.com/graphic/200...ormance-22.htmlPersonally, I hoped SLI would extremely accelerate FS2004 but the problem is clear:Nvidia SLI is not able to use the 2nd graphics card with FS2004.Only 1 graphics card is used by Nvidia SLI if you run FS2004.So bye-bye Nvidia SLI. This problem cannot be fixed. The only chance remaining is the Alienware "SLI" as they have a different technology to…

  21. I've had a medium powerful DELL P4 for 2+ years and it's been generally flawless with FS2002 and FS9. But in recent weeks--in fact, if I think about it, ever since I installed PMDG's NG about 3 to 4 months ago, I think--I've had several weird FS9 crashes and failures to re-set situations with the NG specifically, and had a reported shortage of memory for FS9 by Windows XP. I have RDRAM of 1024 MB and a 2.53Ghz processor, so this has all been very strange to me.Today, while flying a POSKY B747-200 with Ken Mitchell's SP cockpit panel in FS9 at FL310, I suddenly got a "You have run out of memory" message. And the sim then closed down and Windows then closed down shortly …
