Hi, hope someone can assist me.I got a problem with a TFT monitor which is showing a troubled image for 30 minutes after pc start, then works fine, and image is garbled again for 10 minutes or more. Some days it works fine for nine hours or more with the same issue on startup.Understand that I could just replace the monitor, but before doing that, would like to know someone's opinion. The problem just started to happen some weeks after I have deleted most of my background window services in order to take most advantage of my low-end pc (1.7ghz). I also deleted some of the startup background services.Could it impact on monitor work ? Could power supply be an issue here (som…

Hi everybody, maybe some of you will like this (German) homepage with a weekly bios/driver update listing? If you think it's a nice overview, please let me know and I could try to make bumping it, a frequent habbit? Here's this week's link: http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/53925Not much German knowledge is required. And some 'Treiberdownload' links will take you to the German download pages! So, achtung! 'Treiber' means 'driver' 'vom' means 'dated' (more or less) Hope you like it! Good luck and kind regards Jaap PS: Case somebody knows a simular site in English... Jawohl! Bitte!

Looking for improved 737NG performance I purchased a new computer: P4 3.2 Northwood processor, Intel D865GLC Motherboard, 1 GB Ram and an ATI Radeon X800 video card, all in a larger cube dedicated to FS9. Norton Anti-virus is installed. I use Active Sky and Ultimate Traffic. The machine runs hot (even though I started with the Prescott chip and exchanged it for the earlier Northwood). The exhaust air is 40-42 degrees C. Display/traffic sliders are gernerally set mid way. In the air, frame rates (locked at 30) are at or near the top end for the first couple of hours, but they drop below 15 close to or at the large airports. Thereafter frame rates drop to around 20 …

I have a brand new computer:P4 3.6ghz 1024 MGb RAM, Radeon 800XT PE, 60ghz harddrive. The thing rocks with FS9 with almost all sliders up, USA Roads, and Ultimate Traffic. I can finally use the PMDG 737 and some of the other high end stuff! Problem is, after awhile I get an error message saying I have run out of virtual memory. It is currently set at the default - like 1024Mgb minimum and 3000mgb max. Everything I've seen here related to the subject suggests these settings. What else am I missing? I use enditall to get rid of all the background stuff. Thanks!David

I have a somewhat strange situation. I installed WinXP Home back when it was first released (I believe 3 years ago, but is it maybe 4?- the memory's the first to go, they say :) ). I have since upgraded it with all the updates, including SP1 and now SP2, and have had both nVidia ad ATI cards installed over this time. I have installed both FS2002 and Fs9 over the life of this OS install. I also run Outlook/Excel/Word, some photo/movie editing software and various other utilities, and have Norton Internet security (virus and firewall protection).FS has been slow, so a few months ago after re-installing FS9 and seeing little increase in performance, I decided to create …

I would like to upgrade my motherboard and CPU from a KT400 3000+ Athlon XP to a KT800 Pro to a 939 3500+ Athlon 64. I don't want to do a complete reinstall of Windows XP however because I have a lot of stuff and don't wan to spend a week reinstalling it. I just want to put in the motherboard, drop in the CPU, hook up my current HD and go. Would installing the chipset drivers for the new motherboard prior to the upgrade help? So, that when the new motherboard/CPU are installed, it will load the new drivers and start up ok.Thanks,RH

I have a Dell 8300 (P4 3GHz, 1Gb Ram, ATI 9800 PRO) and am considering a graphics card upgrade. I decided on the Ati X800XT.However, I saw one for 'pci express' but didn't know what that was so I browsed the net for info. Ok, I now know what 'pci express is':-lol, but my motherboard is AGP so....I am now considering an ASUS pci express motherboard, 1Gb DDR2 ram to go with it and the pci express version of the X800XT.Overkill for this PC? Stick with the agp version of the x800xt?Ray Keattch

Hi everyone,My current system is an Athlon 2200XP running a GeForce 4200. I am considering an upgrade towards a 939 m/b with an Athlon 64 processor (all I can afford is probably the 3200). Do you think that's a wise move or maybe I should spend the money on a video card? Where are the greatest improvements to be had? Anyone out there who has kept their GF4 while running an Athlon 64? On a sidenote it will be a sad day when I finally put to rest my cheap but trusty K7S5A m/b after 3 years. Thanks in advance

I have used a Dell XPS 8200 for about two years with a 5900 Ultra 256Mb video card with very satisfying results. A month ago, my Dell would not power up and after much frustration and tech support visits Dell finally gave me a system exchange under the warranty. My new system is more powerful: P4 Prescott 3.0Ghz DT, 530, 8400, XP Pro wSP2, very small stock PSI-X video card, 160 GB HD, 1Meg RAM.Two issues: The hard drive set up is incompatible with my old hard drive, so all of the software/licenses etc on my old machine are not easily transferrable into the new machine. The video card is totally inadequate and it uses a new PCI-Express type single slot, making my very exp…

I just can't seem to find the answer to this basic question about the TiVo players anywhere..Can you buy and record on them WITHOUT subscribing to the service ?I'd like to replace my video tape recorder one of these days with one so I could record and then transfer recordings to DVD etc (PC DVD recorder) but don't have use for the subscription service with all the bells and whistles. My digital cable gives me all the menu choices with times and ability to set record times etc.Can you use a TiVo like this ? or get NOwhere without monthly fees ?Thanks, couldn't find another Avsim forum that it fit better..

Hi all,I am currently in the middle of spec'ing out a new system. As the reviews start to pour in about the new Dell 2005FPW widescreen, it is starting to sound really cool! Has any had any experience using a widescreen format - I know it works in virtual mode, but in 2D mode - can you change the screen format to accept 4:3? Meaning...if I fly 2D, can I set the monitor so that it has 2 black lines on the sides?Next question....should I just go with the 2001FP 20"?Thanks all!Chris [email protected] (Previously KSFO)http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Hi guysJust bought my flight yoke from CHproducts yesterday (had a blast) however theres 2 things I noticed:1. I don't have external rudder pedals (not enough $$) however somehow or other the prop rpm (or middle throttle) is suddenly mapped to the rudder! How do I change this? Was planning to just use the keyboard. Is it possible? I tried through the inbuilt 'Assign' keys in FS9 but it doesn't show up (ie. the throttles don't show up).2. The yoke itself is awesome however the forward and backward motions sometimes freeze a bit ie. I'll push the yoke forward and it'll only start moving 2 secs later. Shd I recalibrate? Thanks
