I have two hardware profiles: default and gaming. My gaming profile is setup to correspond with Blackviper's recommendation. After installing the latest ATI catalyst/drivers when in gaming profile catalyst control center will not load returning an RPC unavailable error message...ati drivers are not installed. I've pinged the server...working as intended. John Franklin

Having read everything I can find about Joysticks for FS2k4..my brain is going in circles.. Somehow I don't think this is an earth-shattering decision. :>) BUT..any suggestions?...money is no object! (If only that were true with the big items in life.) I don't even remember what I had with FS98..too long ago...but it was a CH...something-or-other...Thanks...

Using an NVidia 6800 GT OC. I found CERTIFIED drivers at this site today to replace the 61.77's. They seem quite stable in FS9, and I think the quality is up a bit. They are the 66.81's. I like 'em!http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=884

Hello, I am about to upgrade this week to this hardware:AMD 64 3400+ (2.4GHz)ABIT KV8 Pro - K8T800 ChipsetKingstons 1GB DDR400Radeon 9600 ProI wonder if the 9600 Pro will bottle neck the very fast AMD 64?This is my current setup:AMD XP 2700+ @ 2.16GHzABIT NF7S nForce ChipsetKingston 1GB DDR333Radeon 9600 ProAccording to my findings, I can expect about 110% min to 135% max improvement with this new setup I'm aiming for. The 3400+ is also very much par with the FX-51.What do you think, other than "get the X800 Pro"... which is still over $400 in the States.

I have a PNY 6800 Ultra video card. First of all, when I press Alt for the first time when I run FS2004 antialising turns off and I then I press Alt again and antialising turns back on. Same thing happens when I let FS2004 control antialising. There were times when antialising disabled even after pressing Alt a second time. Another problem, maybe not a problem, but I don't get the amount of performance increase over my 9800 Pro like shown in the review at tomshardare.com. At 4x FSAA, 8x AF, 1600x1200 under overcast clouds I get 10 fps on the 9800 Pro and 16 fps on the 6800 Ultra. Another weird thing is that if I use Chris's clouds my 9800 Pro beats my 6800 Ultra. …

Hi everyone, I've been puzzled for 5 days now as to why after a major card upgrade. Now granted, my system isn't what you'd consider a high end system. P4 1.8, 512MB RAM, Geforce FX 5700 Ultra. I've done a lot of reading and have tweaked everything in the OS, as well as things within FS as per the hardware optimization guide post in this forum. I am still unclear regarding hardware AA optimal settings on the card they say 2x AA and 4x anisotropy as a rule of thumb, not sure. The 3Dmark score on this system right now is 2800, which I thought was pretty good for that CPU/RAM config. The FPS difference between my old Geforce 3 Ti200 and my current card is marginal at best an…

Hi,I have a Dell D800 1.7 GHz Notebook with 64 MB GeForce 4200 Go graphics. I just upgraded to Video Bios 4.28.20.31.C1 (A05) from 4.28.20.31.A0. I am using Video driver 6.14.10.4487. Now, when I pass the mouse over gauges in the 2D panel, the panel disappears when a tool tip appears. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I have to go back to the BIOS that I had before?I'm using FS9.1, and had no problems prior to the Video BIOS upgrade. Thanks,Thomas Perry

Hi all,I need to upgrade my card but I am pretty limited in my choice. My MOBO only has PCI slots which are not able to take PCIE cards. Can anyone recommend a PCI graphics card?I have heard that Dell MOBO's are pretty much un-upgradable due to different power supplies and power connectors from mainline manufactures. Has anyone tried upgrading theirs?

Hi,This file, I suspect, is subject to much neglect and abuse by the average end user who cannot resist meddling. Yet, if properly configured and maintained, it can dispel the frustrations endured by the simmer by assuring continued smooth stable operation of our favourite simulator. I preface what I am about to say by stating that this is my own experience gleaned from much trial and error over several months experimentation. Now, the only time I make any changes to FS9.CFG outside the simulator is when I update graphic drivers.FS9.CFG is vital for the correct operation of FS9, yet it is conceivable that the only time it really integrates fully with the sim is following …

Had this happen a few weeks ago but, as it cleared after a reboot, I didn't think anymore of it. However, it happended again this evening. Not sure if the shot shows it very well but the screen is covered in bright sparkly lights. This also affected the screen text when exiting out of FS9. Sparkies occured after 1/2 of flight. Any ideas as to what could be the cause? The last time happened when I tried 1280X1024 display (I normally use 800X600). This happended after switching to 1024X768.Perhaps my monitor is starting to give up? It's 17" and about 4 years old. Not sure about the model, it came with a Tiny PC (my brothers).Windows XP SP2Radeon 9600 Pro512MB RamAthlon XP 1…

We have received one of the cockpit video DVDs that are available for sale thinking that we could just pop it into the CD drive and watch away. At worst, I'd have to install some kind of driver that I would download from MS.A run of the MS website is indicating that we have to have both a DVD drive and a DVD decoder, both of which have a price tag attached...Is there a way, preferably free, to get a DVD to play from a CD Drive in WinXP Home?BobL

This post is for those on the fence thinking of pumping up from 500 to 1 Gig of ram and those who will be searching this issue weeks/months from now. I couldn't believe the difference in performance with 1 gig vs 512. The latter wasn't bad, but the smoothness of the sim has doubled, unbelievably so. I'm talking smooth with the PMDG 737 in VC mode and taxiing on the ground. The difference is like day and night.I wasn't sure if it would be worth the bucks but WOW, it certainly was, at least in my case.May the wind be at your back.Ed Lin, D.O.S.Windows XPAsus P4P800 DeluxeIntel 2.8 ghz processor h/tSapphire/Radeon 9800 128mb1 Gig Kingston ramAudigy PlatinumCreative PC-DV…

I am trying to optimize my computer for best performance. I have an Asus motherboard with an onboard Promise MBFastrak133 RAID controller. I purchased two new 80GB 8MB Cache 72RPM IDE drives which I have implemented as a 160GB RAID disk with striping for performance. This striped set is currently installed as my C: drive and has the OS (Windows XP Professional) installed. I also have an extra stand-alone 80GB drive that I have set up as the D: drive for storing data.My question is:What is the best place to put the OS, paging file, FS2004?The way I have it set up now is:160GB (2-80GB RAID Stripe): OS, Paging File80GB (1-80GB Stand-alone drive): FS2004Obviously the st…
