Hi Guy's,and Greg, well, this is getting extremely confusing now, I've just got off the phone with one of my mates who had an expert there with him,so my mate put him on the phone to me, well, apparently some of the disconnects from S/Box, and some of the occasional blue screens/lock-ups can be attributed to Norton Internet Security 2004, which has Norton Anti virus 2004 built into it, well apparently it's very very heavy on the system resources, and that I would be better off going over to McAfee instead, not the small free or trial ware, but the full program payware version for complete security, well most of my time is spent web browsing, then playing Joint Opps, and of…

I was considering getting the 9700 pro instead of the 9800 pro as it may require less power (??)Also the specs are close, both use 256-bit, 8 vs 12 pipelines, both use 128M DDR memory (I think so anyway)And I would save a hundred bucks.Im not too particular about highest fps, but quality of inmage and AA/AN usage is wanted so I though the 9700 pro would do the same at less fps Does it require an extra power connection as the 9800 pro does?any comments appreciated.allen

Hey guys,I installed an ATI 9800 Pro a few days ago replacing my 4400Ti. So far, things are good except that textures have a jaggy appearance - see the attached pic (blue livery stripes). I have AA turned off in FS9. I have AA set to 6x and AF set to 8x in the video drivers themselves. I'm using the latest Catalyst drivers (4.9). I'm at a loss here. Any ideas? When I zoom in real close, things smooth out. Thanks,Matt Zagoren

After using FS98 on my snail-pace computer several years ago, and then having left the Flight Sim world for a while,I finally am upgrading to a faster computer, specially for FS2004. Computer is in the mail from DELL Deminsion 8400.I've ordered the nVidia6800GTO, then somewhere out here saw that some were having problems with the ULTRA. !! Did I blow it?Some specs on the computer---PN4 550 3,4 Hz-Windows XP Home-nVidia, as I said-2 GB, 533Mhz memory That's about all I know...Any help greatly appreciated...Bill Youhass

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my monitor only - I have an nVidia 2700+ CPU with 1 gig Ram (Sorry don't know which type - not a computer buff unfortunately) I have an nVidia FX5600 graphics card and have Windows XP home. 15" CRT monitor running at 1024 X 748.I'm very happy with this system which I put together about a year ago. Due to desk top space I didn't update my monitor at that time, now I fancy I've room for a bigger monitor - 17 or 19 inch may be possible. I understand that CRT monitors are best for Flight Sim stuff. I'm looking at a LG Flatron Ez T910BU 19" (friend has one seems good??)These forums have stood me in good stead in the past for system advice and I'd…

  8. In one of my latest magazines, I read about a computer power supply that featured a "cordless" solution. That is, all the power components plugged INTO this main power supply. As opposed to power cables that plugged into each computer component. If you've seen this or read about it, can you please help provide me with any details such as web site, manufacturer's name, etc. Thanks in advance if you can help!

Hello gurus,I have an intricate question for ya. I have an Altec Lansing ADA885 surround system. The problem is that it was bought in Europe meaning it is marked for 220V/50Hz voltage. As I have moved to Canada I can only get 110V/60Hz from the outlets. Do you guys think it would still work if I connect it to 110/60? What could happen? Would it blow up? It seems hard to imagine but you never know... ;-) I know I could buy a voltage converter but it would probably be as expensive as buying a new surround system. Any thoughts appreciated!Cheers,

What is out there that will run FS2004 well. It will also be used for work and will need Office apps, but the horsepower requirements will be driven by flight sims.Any suggestions on brands or retail outlets for the best pricing and service ?

I have a Radeaon 9800 Pro graphic card and by the looks of my screen it's just about done for! I am getting these pink and green horizontal and vertical lines on the computer screen interfering with the images. These lines come and go, for instance if I turn off the computer for a bit then turn it back on the lines will be gone but they eventually come back. Like now I have the avsim fourms page up but I can see bits of my desktop image in the lines Im describing. The lines are not screen related because I hooked up a old monitor and the lines appear on that monitor also.Any ideas what could be going on? As you can see by my sig, I have a fairly reasonable spec system for running FS, but at times my FPS dips much lower than I would like. I'm hoping that someone here can point me in the right direction (hardware, software or just general configuration) to improve this situation.Firstly, a quick run down on my relevant FS and system settings:FS - Sliders hard right and feature check boxes selected, except for scenery water effects low, in game AA off, MipMap 4, resolution 1152x864x32 on primary monitor and 1024x768x32 on secondary monitors, 100% AI (airline only) with UT original install schedules, full realism execpt ignore crash damage (too many overspeeds with AS2004 in…

I have a Gforce4 4800ti card, however the fan bearings are going out and its driving me crazy with all the noise. I'm thinking about getting another 128mb card or higher but can't afford too much. I really like the performance from my current, but loud card. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.B Bjorkman CFII

  21. I decided to upgrade my processor from an Intel 2.4Ghz P4 to a 3.2 Ghz P4. I ordered it from Newegg.com and was pleased to find that it came a day early today. I installed it with the stock Intel fan and heatsink, but with new silver thermal paste. But when I tried to boot it up, it stopped and froze at the Windows XP boot screen. I restarted my comp and went in to the BIOS to look for the problem, and found that the processor was running at 66 degrees celsius just after startup! I knew that this processor would run hot, but it isn't supposed to do that! I know that I can get a new heatsink and fan for about $20, but from what I hear even a good one will only lower t…

  24. With Christmas coming soon it's that time of year when I start to think about a present list. One thing that has caught my eye is Track IR which seems to have good reviews. I seem to remember seeing a downloadable review of the product using either Realplayer or Windows Mediaplayer. However, I can't remember where I saw it. I thought it might be FSTV but none of their editions seem to mention it. I know that written reviews are plentiful but I thought it would be good to see this review again. Anybody remember it?
