Hi,I am planning on upgrading my PC next week.Considering this video card. However I read a review which states that the power consumption and heat is quite high. Can anyone who has this card confirm this. Also what size PSU would I need. The other card I would consider is the 7900GT, but would rather stay with Ati. I used the 9800 pro 128MB AGP for 3years, won't cut it for FSX.My new CPU will be the Core Duo E6600, a P5B Mobo, 2gig of Ram, etc.Thanks,Helmut

I currently use FS2004 (and some payware scenery) on my desktop (Pentium 4 3.20Ghz, 1Gb RAM, Radeon 9600) and struggle to get into double figure fps at times (sliders nearly to the right - 1280x1024x32). I thought about upgrading components but as I read more I seem to need more and more items. I though about a PCI-e graphics card, but then I need a motherboard upgrade. I may also need a more powerful PSU. Then I thought about a processor upgrade, or perhaps it should be SATA disks. I'm really confused and have come to the conclusion I should perhaps consider a brand new PC :(Would everyone agree I should bin the old PC be…

I have a 2 year old machine. P4 2.8 1gig ram. ATI 9800 Pro 128 card. I have FS9 tuned to give me 20-25 FPS under normal conditions (Seattle, 40% traffic, some cloud LDS767 or similar). Sometimes but not always when I load up the LDS767 or PMDG 737, my FPS will drop to 2-5 and seem to get stuck there until I restart. Then magically we are back up to normal. Its almost as if the CPU or video card does not "release" and continue on. Any ideas on how I can avoid or fix this problem without complete restart. thanks,Mark.

Well, I decided before trying out the wide format Dell 2407WFP, I should maybe take this 204B back from whence it came, Circuit City, and see if they had another one to swap it for. I've had it a week now, so they are good with 14 days no questions asked. I got another one and voila, no discoloration (probably it's better described as no more offset of the center point) and this things is PERFECT!I did look into the Samsung 214T with its better viewing angles, but alas, double the price and 1/3 the response time. Hi everyone,I have been looking at buying a new display and I ended up getting a Sony Bravia 32" display with the resolution set at 1024x768x32. It looks pretty good except that due to the widescreen feature any settings above that (1360x768 for example) stretches the picture out too much and makes the 2D panel look awful. Guys,Have been monitoring this forum for the past week or so and looking up previous threads about the G2d.dll CTD that some people have had in FS9, and now its really beginning to annoy me.Whether i fly the ifdg Airbuses, the Level D 767, the Feelthere 737s etc i always seem to get g2d.dll errors at addon sceneries with the exception of UK2000 Heathrow Pro, Aerosofts CDG and a few 3rd party sceneries from the library.However I was just flying into Zurich where i have an addon scenery and it crashed about 7 miles out on final to runway 14, also Frankfurt crashes, as does ISD's Rome and Flytampas Vienna. Which card is bet for FS? I hear nvidia cards are better BUT for FS ATI cards are better.

I have a Dell XPS Gen 5 with a Pentium 640 (3.2 GHz, 800 FSB) and NVidia GeForce 6800 w/256MB.I think the CPU will be OK for FSX, but the video card won't cut it. I was wondering if anyone can suggest an upgrade for the card.Also, is it worth it to go higher than 1 GB for RAM?Thanks,Jon

Hi all, first post on the forums and getting help on this topic on other forums, ok so anyway, I get these freezes in FS that last for about 10-15 seconds sometimes longer, and sometimes it freezes for good and never recovers, i have all the programs closed in the background including anti virus, i have even got the "blue screen of death" a few times, saying something about the NV4_disp.dll, i have never got enough time to read the whole thing before it restarts. once the computer boots back up it brings me to a page that tells me some info on the problem and how to fix it, it says to update the drivers, which i guess i have, but when i go to the Nvidia site it doesn't ev…

I find that my video card senses the widescreen and offers the appropriate resolutions to support it. What if a second conventional 4X3 monitor is fed from the same video card, what is the impact on resolutions?Thanks- Bruce.

Hey GuysI'm looking at the scroll wheel on this new mouse from logitech. I'm wondering if the motor scrolling will work with MCP windows in FS? http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products...evolution_mxupp It would be cool to start the wheel scrolling (its motorised) and then just hit when it reaches the right altitude/heading.Looks pretty cool, although pricey. I am getting sudden crashes to desktop in FS9. My setup consists of a dual display in XP Pro, with the second display reserved for GPS, AI traffic etc. The system has worked fairly well until I upgraded from an ATI9800 Pro to the current GeForce 7800 GTX, so I am not sure if this is a coincidence or if my problem is due to something else e.g. corrupt or duplicate files. I've checked out some of the work-throughs from previous threads on this subject and I did a 'dxdiag' check on the display. I just purchased a Samsung 20.1" Syncmaster 204B, and wonder how much better other screens are in this regard. Pretty hard to tell in a bright showroom, but at home now, I am struck by just how non-black this is. I just changed from very high quality CRT to this guy.
