Is anyone using the trackir and the Matrox triple head to go together, or is this kinda pointless since the triple head to go has such a wide view? When using the triplehead to go, is the virtual cockpit used, or does it look better with the 2D cockpit?

My computer has been sick for a while had finely passed away the other day. Its likely salvageable but not likely worth the cost. I was kind of hoping I could soldier on with my current system until Vista and DX10 comes out and then go hog wild on a new system then. However with the passing of my current system I am now thinking about building a budget interim system that I will use for about a year. Since my old system is 3 years old it should not be difficult. One thing that I am very confused about is the new dual core processors? These seem all the rage and very popular. On paper they seem to be the way to go. However it seems I have been reading how FSX doe…

Yesterday, my wife noticed a real slowdown with my computer. I have a Dell Dimension 2.8 gig, Pentium 4, 1gig Ram, and Nvidia 7900 GS card. I usually do strict maintenance, defrag, etc. I have Norton Systemworks, and Spyware Doctor. My wife noticed that when she switched to her User account from mine, it kind of took "forever". So I went to work deleting programs that I thought I didn't need. I did a CKDISK and my system didn't need a defrag. I had great difficulty trying to change to a different Nvidia driver (older) in the system, even after deleting the current driver, running Ccleaner, and DriverPro to eliminate all traces. Seemed I kept getting a message that some ot…

Hello folks out there im wondering if you can span your vc mode into another screen , I want to use the virtual cockpit, and I have 7800 gsos dual card and I want to expand my vc cockpit to another screen , and be able to move around in a bigger space, perhaps get the track ir and use it.I was at the avsim conference and those units are awesome, they work the way they say.But first I want to expand my viewing space.I know with triplehead2go you can do that easily, and someone at Microsoft said it can be done also whit out.But they did not go into detail with that one.Can someone help

I like many others am still running an AGP based system that I cannot afford to replace for some time,so purely with FS9 in mind is there a benefit to be gained with a graphics upgrade,to a 7600GT,7800GS etc.Has anyone been there /done that. Also what about putting in another Gb of ram.Grateful for any feedback. The bigger the size of your monitor...does it mean the more your video card works and effects preformance? I'm looking at getting a 42inch LCD monitor and was wondering if I would get less FPS going from my 22inch.Any thoughts.

I have two monitors. The older one is gatweway vx900, circa 1999. Lotsa use. Never a problem. Recently, several (2-6, it varies) thin, white, horizontal lines have appeared at the top of the screen. They come and go. Picture still great. Bright, good color, etc.Coincidentally, when I bring up FS9, undock the view and move it to the second monitor, the gateway, I can't expand the view to full screen before the cursor starts fluttering. A couple times, FS has CTDd, saying the video driver couldn't handle the load, or something like that. Also, I have always kept sliders all the way right, TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21, and got 20 FPS (locked) in all but very complicated…

With FSX due out in about a month, I'm in the computer upgrade quandry. Right now I have an P4 3.0 GHz, a gig of RAM, and a Radeon 850XT. I know I will probably be sorely disappointed by the performance. Would it be worth it now to get a new mobo, an Intel Core Duo 2, and a prety nice PCIe graphics card? Will the DX10 graphics card be PCIe as well? so that I can easily upgrade? Would a mobo be able to support upgrading to a better core processor down the road? Or is the hardware out now still not suficient to run FSX at it's true potential?

Well I'm currently thinking of spending some cash for a new system (and a diamond ring for my wife!!) for FSX. I've read most of the AMD 64 X2 v Intel Dual Core Duo and I think I may opt for The Intel 6400 or 6600. The card will possibly be a 9700 GT 256MB. One thing I was wondering though. Originally I was going to go for 2GB RAM. However, I'm now thinking that perhaps I should go for 4GB. Now is this a good idea or perhaps a bit of overkill?

plus FS9 vs. FSXLike many of you i have spent the last 2 years trying to polish up my rig to get the best performance and visuals from FS9. I started with an Emachine with a Celeron D added a 6200OC 256mb card and 2 gigs of ram. This really allowed me to finally enjoy FS9, not top of the line, but it worked.Along comes FSX and like you I know it's time to upgrade, but the little E has finally hit a wall.Along comes Core 2 due...Resistance was futile, i had to get it. So, I found a nice HP m7680n at my local shop. I wanted the new rig to be a bit more flexible so i opted for the media center TV/PC version. 1200$I contemplated building, but this baby was sweet and had everyt…

Hey everybody I have a quick question about RAM.right now my computer has 1GB of RAM in it. It's a dual channel kit 2x512MB sticks DDR400.I'm trying to sell some old computer parts of mine (CPU and vid card from my recent upgrade) and somebody has offered to trade me for a new in-package 1GB stick of DDR400 RAM for my old CPU. This might be a good trade to me if I can pick up a 2nd stick of 1GB DDR400 RAM allowing me to upgrade to 2GB of RAM.My question is though, do I need to make sure to buy the exact same stick of RAM to match it for dual channel, or will any other stick of RAM do (so long as it has the same timings)? The RAM is kind of a no-name brand? (see below) RAM…

I just got an AMD64 4000+ and overclocked it by increasing the FSB from 200 to 215. So the 2.4gHz CPU is running at 2.58. Now I start wondering if this is the best or even correct way to OC my system? What about all the other variables taht I'm not even really familiar with? Or maybe by playing with those I could further optimize the overclocking. Thank you in advance for your input.Jason

Is it possible? I own a Logitech Formula Force EX wheel. The wheel unit plugs into the PC via USB. The pedals plug into the wheel unit via a connector which looks like a mini serial port male type connector (but is not).Is there any hardware modification (on the connector) that will enable me to plug it into a serial or USB port so I can use the pedals for rudder.I'm trying to get rid of the wheel unit from the equation. Hope I'm clear with my query.Cheers,Keith

That doesn't do that if i let on apllication controlled and checked AA on FS but the result is a lot worst..I had also this problem with the last version of foreceware, i have just upgrade to 91.47 to try to fix the problem.Than…

I'm planning on getting a new computer for FSX, however I don't want to buy an expensive video card only to replace it in 6 months with a new video card that is Vista compatable and runs DX10. So can someone advise me on what video card I should get that will run FSX with the sliders maxed that I can replace when the new cards come out? I also don't want to choke off any performance from the new computer by having a video card that can't keep up. Please, any advice on an inexpensive card to last me till then would be greatly appreciated.

I had an exe file... that would tell me what I/O and other functions the system is doing.I used to use this to see... why FS9 is pausing etc.... Its a program that simply logs everything the system is doing... with a time stamp I believe.Do any of you know what I am talking about. Do you know what this is called and where I can get it.Its probably somehwere in my PC, but I can't find it.Thanks for your help.Manny

I couldn't resolve my texture problems using this video card and so I put my X800 XT back in. Since I have no use for the 1900, I'm going to sell it. It's a terrific card, but due to the design of the case (Dell 8400), it's hard to keep air moving and temps down. If you want it, send me a PM or reply.

Hi,Realising that I was still running Catalyst 5.10 I thought it was about time I updated the drivers, so I downloaded and installed the latest 6.8 drivers and ccc. Problem, I have 2 cards installed, an X800 pro driving my main monitor and a PCI Radeon 7500 driving 2 further monitors, however the 6.8 drivers no longer support the PCI card so I downloaded and installed the 6.5 drivers which were the last to support both my cards. Question, is it possible and safe to have 2 sets of ATI drivers installed at the same time? ie the 6.8 for the X800 and the 6.5 for the PCI card. Many thanks for your help.Pete.

Does anyone else have issues with nvidia cards? I have an nvida geforce 7900GT and have been experiencing system re-boots. Im using a new pc that i just built last week. I am thinking of returning it and purchasing an ati radeon x1900xt 512mb card instead. Im using the latest drivers. Micrsoft error reporting said I had a serious error and it was caused by the nvidia drivers. They recomended getting the latest driver (which I have) and disabeling hardware acceleration. Should I just go with ATI?
