Hi all. It's been a number of years since I've posted. Kind of got out of it for a while then with the pending release of FSX I found myself lurking and reading.Anyway, my current rig is a P4/2.8/9800Pro driving three CRT's. I'm ready to do some upgrades, but the first will be to my desk (is that a hardware upgrade? sorry for the pun). Before I make the selection I want to make sure I have room for my displays. My debate is do I run with twin 22's or tripple 19's? Specifically:- In the past I've ran two 3D screens off the 9800Pro with a third off an old PCI card for 2D panels only. The secondary display off the 9800 always suffered so I'm thinking that a TH2GO is …

I still get the stuck brake issue using my CH Pro Pedals USB with the new demo (trial) version of FSX. And before you say so, yes, I checked that the brake axes were reversed.Where's the fix MS said would be in the final (assuming that the new trial is based on final bits)? For those that have the "final" version, is the problem really fixed???

This is an odd sort of question that probably only a handful of people are capable of answering...but has anyone with a Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card or similar noticed that it is impossible to *not* have antialiasing in FSX? Even if I turn it off in the catalyst control panel and in-game, it still remains on. I noticed this problem after I upgraded my drivers to catalyst 6.9.Anyway I just wanted to find a way to turn off antialiasing so maybe I can get some decent performance in the sim, heh.

I just had a new system built with a AMD 4400 X2 processor. A friend of mine tried to upgrade his computer with a 4800 X2 chip but it will not work with his MB and does not want to change it out. So he is willing to sell me the 4800 processor for cheap. Would this upgrade even be worth my time? Most bench marks show a 5% gain in performance so probably not likely noticed in most applications. However with a program like FSX every little but counts I guess. Also would this be a simple plug and play upgrade after adjusting some motherboard settings for the faster chip? Sometimes when you upgrade the CPU you have to reformat and I am not interested in doing that. Tha…

My new rig is a disapointment- I keep it locked at 15 and sometimes get half that. 60 mile vis, no traffic, FSNet is my only addon other than aircraft (PDMG 1900C, Realair Marchetti, ATR-72). My Pentium 3 550 MH with a 32 meg SDR card gave me ten FPS- what's up? As soon as I enter FS9 my CPU usage shoots to 100% and stays there. Is CPU usage a sign more RAM is required or is that not related? I have contacted FS-GS; no reply yet but should I up the RAM?My main question is, does more RAM reduce CPU usage. My new rig's specs:Asus K8N motherboard, 2.8 GHZ AMD Sempron, 512 MB 400 DDR RAM, Radeon 7500 64 MB DDR vid cardFLYing? Hi there, and sorry for bothering again.Well, i have installed my new FSX dedicated 300GB HD.I have created two partition:1) for addon sceneries to come, backups, downloads and so on2) for FSX itselfBut now i have a doubt :-(maybe loading addon sceneries from first partition will impact FSX performance? Will FSX require a longer time to load? Or perhaps it'll stutter during flight if a scenery/textures loads? In other words, better to install addon sceneries on a different phisical HD or it's the same?thanks in advance for your patienceLuigi ;-)

I still have a set of CH gameport pedals sitting under my desk and am wondering about converting the toe brakes to USB - buy cheap USB joystick, dismantle it, and attach wires at appropriate points to the CH toebrake connections. And I guess something similar could be done to convert the flying axes to USB as well. Could be much cheaper than a new set of CH USB pedals. Then I could buy 2GB of RAM for you-know-what.Anyone done it?--Bryn

Hello to all of you,I recently purchased the X52 joystick from Saitek. Well, I have been using it for a while now and experienced a problem with the steering on the ground. When I try to make a left or right turn after bringing the rudder back to the center position of the joystick the plane always keeps turning to the left or right for a few seconds more. It happens at any speed or angle of the turn. With my old joystick everything worked just fine. I did not change any setting after installing the joystick, checked with fsuipc and the calibration of the stick is OK. I have absolutely no clue how to solve this problem. It is almost driving me crazy to taxi to my assigned ga…

Greetings All, I am in a great position in building a new system from scratch. I am looking for some guidance from knowledgable folks on this forum. This rig will be used primarily for FS but still has the need for all the 'everyday' PC tasks that beset us - Email, MS Office and the like. There is enough information on the forum to make 'enlightened' decisions on what CPU to install, do you go RAID0, RAID5 etc. What I am after here is what is the best way to set up patitioning with all the tasks to hand. I will be having at least two 250 Gb HD's maybe three. SATA II 16Mb. So I will have the following:-1. OS (Win XP home)2. FS93. FSX (when it arrives)4…

  23. Just installed another 1024 RAM in my DELL XPS Gen 4 and noticed subtle improvements in loading times, spot view texture fill, and possibly a few frames too. Now getting 35-50 fps in the PMDG 744 in default FS9 Fair Wx with 3/8 clouds at 10,000'. Not bad, I think. Set cap back to 24 fps and it's at the cap almost all the time, and it's close to the cap in the VC, except for approach into super dense airports with UT AI traffic. At the same time, I moved the Audigy sound card way down the mobo to prepare for the giant proposed nVidia 7900 card. Hey everyone, last night for the first time since I built my new rig in May, I got a blue screen system crash. Part of the text read, from what I can remember that windows has encountered a serious error. I rebooted ok. I then did a defrag and it took alot longer than before?? I was in the great Piper from Digital Aviation at the amazing Hillsboro KHIO by Flight scenery on my takeoff run when it occured. I have not had one crash up till now. Any suggestions?? I hope it was just a fluke and nothing more, or a cleaning is due. It took me from May until now to get everything the way I like, so I hope you guys can help. Thanks in advance.

Never had anything like this before. Had to try it out after seeing it at AVSIM '06. This is fun! I can see that with the right settings, in time, I'll never fly in a VC without this device again. The range of settings is simply amazing; the developers obviously put a lot of thought and effort into this version. I found the default settings too "fast" and dizzying, but it took only a couple of minutes to find an adjustment--the "dead zone". This is really nifty. I'm gonna enjoy this even if I do get dizzy or spun around a bit (and that includes being upside down by accident!) while figuring out the optimal settings.I must confess, I still like and need 2D cockpits.…
