Hi there, while waiting for my FSX copy to come, i'm going to buy a new HD (just to keep FS9 at its place ;-))Now, i'm going to buy a 300GB SATA Disk FSX dedicated (FSX + all of addons); my question is:will performance decrease if i'll partition this disk, for example 150+150GB, and install some other programs onto it?And what about using the second 150GB partition as a storage disk?As for FS9 it's installed on the third partition (E:) of my main HD the same of WinXP (C:) and it looks like my PC has always had lack of performance.Just to be sure :-coolThanks in advanceLuigi ;-)

here's my situation... i have an ATI X800 XT and just got two 19" widescreen monitors that run at 1440x900 each. i downloaded the latest catalyst drivers a few days ago and successfully combined the two displays into one virtual monitor using CCC's span/stretch mode. the resulting desktop runs at 2560x1024, 32-bit, 60Hz. the native stretched resolution should be 2880x900, but it doesn't seem to be available. anyway, it's not a big deal. the desktop is slightly stretched, but not bad at all. now here's the problem...when starting FS2004, the main window comes up and everything is fine... with one exception. when at the "create flight" screen, the rotating 3d image of the s…

All Right... After I built my PC (No Overclock)... I had one Blue screen. So I ran the Prim95 test grinder for over 24 hrs and found no problem.I also put the PC through the Memtest86 grinder for an additional 24 hrs and found no problem. So I considered my basic PC Build to be stable.-----------------------------------------------------------------So now comes the Overclocking part. This website was what got me started on this PC Bulding and OC Adventure. I am not exactly sure who posted it here. But I found it in this forum.http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1075792And these sites helped educate me.http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=570&p=1http://…

Can someone be so kind as to give me your thoughts on an upgrade for my current system. My current computer:Motherboard: ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo 2.4GHz Socket 939 Dual Core RAM: CORSAIR XMS 2GB (4 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Video Card: HIS Hightech PQS80LN-6I-ZPC Radeon X800XL 256MB x16Hard Drives: SATA (not sure what make)PSU: PC Power and Cooling 450W SLIGiven the immediate launch of FSX, I was thinking about updating one of my RAM pairs--upgrading 2 of 512MB sticks with 2 1GB sticks to increase total RAM to 3GB. I am wondering if upgrading RAM from 2GB to 3GB will show any meaningful improvement.Als…

Hello, I have a major problem with FS2004, I can set my flight up as normal and go into the game itself, the game runs fine for about 10 to 15 mins then the problem happens, FS2004 kicks me out and back to the desktop or the game freezes up and I have to reboot my system. I have just upgraded my system to AMD Athlon X2 4800+ with a ATi Radeon x550. I don't know if this is the problem or not, I also have a Audigy 2 ZS soundcard which I have had for a while, I have also tried the FSX demo which has the same problem after you land at St Martin at the end of the demo it crashes. Any help would be much appreciated. :)

After three years on the same HD I am reformatting. I have grown tired of the slow reactions each and everytime I click to load a PROG. Mostly Im sick of slow loads and freeze ups with FS2004.So tonight I have copied all my keys, installers and other files to CDs. I am only go to load what I have used the last six months on the new install....Time to be sure I have rid my system of hidden spyware and viruses as well as reset it bac to a time I remember FS9 ran much smoother...I tell you how it went....

I received my two 22" Acer LCDs last night and hooked them up to both my desktop and notebook systems. Whilst both cards supported dual screen operation at native resolution (2 x 1680x1050), only the nVidia card supported horizontal span at native res (3360x1050) whereas the ATI card peaked out at something weird like 3200x1200.In FS9, performance was still very acceptable going from single to spanned dual monitors on the notebook. With the default flight (KSEA in Cessna 182), all sliders to the right, 80% UT traffic, 4XAA/8XAF and I was pulling 33 FPS with the single screen and 27FPS spanned dual. And let me say that FS9 looked great in all its double widescreen glor…

Hi Folks, I'm a very happy FS9 user and I'm also looking foreward to installing FSX. I've read that some folks plan to do a defrag of their harddrive after installing FSX. When I used WinMe I would defrag about once every couple of weeks or so. With WinXp I let WinXp analize my hd to see if a defrag is needed. I only defrag if WinXp tells me to do so.Now, after installing FSX would you suggest defragging regardless of what WinXp indicates? Thanks in advance..

I have an A8N32-SLI, and have connected 2 SATA drives to the respective connectors on the motherboard. In DM I had an uninstalled hardware component simply called "Mass Storage Device". When asking about this on the ASUS forums, one person siad that if I was not using RAID (I am not), then to disable the SI controller in BIOS and the uninstalled hardware item would go away- which it did, and my SATA drives now appear to be working better too as far as data transfer is concerned.I've looked at Tomsharware and the SI controller appears to be some enhancement of the SATA protocol. Even though I am not currently using a RAID confogeration, am I loosing out on functionality…
