Wow, for those of you with red/blue glasses (or any other type of 3D visualizing device), you're in for the experience of your life if you use the new 91.31 Nvidia Stereo 3D driver with the 91.31 Nvidia Forceware driver and enable the stereo in FS9. 3D flying is absolutely incredible and worked first time I tried it.I had attempted with older Nvidia 3d drivers to use FS9 and always got crashes but this is awesome. The only thing I couldn't get to work with 3D was using my two side by side monitors in horizontal span mode. This is a must see and it really didn't seem to affect frame rates. Art Martin

I purchased a 24" iMac with the following config2GB RAM7600 256MB CardCore 2 Duo1920 x 1200 24" monitorI installed XP, via Boot Camp and tried the new demoI stuck everything on medium to high settings, and there was no problems getting smooth 25fps (ensuring that I was flying around the trickier sections...not just water)I then stuck everything on Max (sliders to the right). I was expecting that I had no business doing this, as FSX is clearly designed for future machines, and besides it looks good on medium to high settings anyway. Oh, and the mad thing is, that I was running it in windowed mode...AT THE FULL 1920 x 1200 RESOLUTION. Obviously it looked beautiful. So I was …

Hi,I was wondering what would be the best way to make FSX run on full settings for the time being. I have a 256 mb 6800GT, a 3.5 GHz Processor P4 and 1 gb ram. Is more ram the answer? Thanks

I'm on the fence as to whether to purchase FSX now or wait till next summer/fall when the smoke has cleared, Vista/DX10 and the appropriate hardware is sorted out, and maybe MS has released some sort of patch or update, etc. I am not very technically savy, and constant tweaking and re-installing FS9 has got me worn down. I have only RealScene and UT, plus a bunch of freeware ac for addons in FS9. * Dell XPS Gen 4 *Fly Only* pc - not online* P-4 3.46GHz Extreme Edition * 2GB DDR2 SDRAM @ 533MHz* ATI Radeon X850XT PCIe Platinum Edition* WDR 74GB 10,000 rpm HD (FS9 only)* 80GB 7200 rpm HD* Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS THX* XP Media Center Edition w/SP2* DX 9.0cThanks for any in…

Within the past 3/4 days I've noticed that when trying to taxi or fly manually, the aircraft will not turn left!! In Virtual Cockpits the yoke will not move from centre to the left - turning right fine - trying to turn left, no can do?? Of course, once off the ground with AP selected the aircraft behaves normally. Landing sure is a lotta 'fun'....I can do without :). This problem affects all aircraft in Fs9, default and payware.Any help would be appreciated. I don't know where to start to find the problem.KenSomerset, England

Hey guys, I am a student looking at a new laptop. I am not the most informed person about computer hardware or the ability to upgrade. My question is if there is a good, solid laptop on the market that can I can run FSX on and in the future have space to put better hardware in? If this is too open of a question, then what is 'good' hardware on a laptop.

Ive searched through a lot of places looking for optimal specs for FSX. Is Vista required for optimal performance? Or at least decent performance? Direct x 10? I just bought a new pc and was wondering if its good enough to play FSX Reasonably well? Any help or your experience would be great! My spec is as follows: LIVE Athlon 64 X2 5000+(2.60GHz, 512K) (core 2 processor), 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 533MHz RAM320GB (2x160GB) 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive - Dual HDD Config256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro Graphics Card.

System Specs:Dell XPS Gen III Pentium 3.4 GB ATI800XT (came with system)REPLACED by ATI1900XGT 256 meg.Just to let others know that I experienced no true FPS increase in either FS9 or FSX.I'll find out if the rendering with the 1900 part is better than the 800 part (more detail and effects).I had a good buy, and decided to upgrade the vid card. I guess no matter what, Flight sim 9 and X is truly CPU limited. It seems that I had plenty of headroom not even utilized with the ATI X800XT part!!!Oh well...I'll keep the ATI1900XGT part in place and have the X800XT as a spare for the rainy day, lol.The only thing I can do for now I guess is to see what fastest CPU part can be pl…

Hi,I am seriously considdering to step over to a Laptop instead of my Dell pc.In your opinion, what about Acer Ferrari or Lamborghini? Which one is the best for simming? Or if you have some other suggestions.Forget about FSX, since that is certainly not what I want to run today. But more a FS9 setup with all excellent addons. ;-)Maybe later on, lets say in 3 - 4 years, I will considder FSX, when a suitable system will eventually be available. :-)http://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gifFSX..:-hmmm...nah.. Still happy without it!! :-hahMy specs are:Dell Dimension 4600 P4/2.8 at 3.0 Ghz1024 Mb DDR333 Dual channel memory (2x256,1x512)AGP 256 Mb ATI Radeon X850 Pro ViVo,…

Hi all, FWIW, FSX was unusable (frame rates in the low single digits) with this setting enabled on the 6.9 cats. Maybe its because of my old 9800 card, but might be something to look at if you're having performance issues. (My system still runs dog slow, but at least the fps is in the double digets now)Paul

My old 128MB ATI 9800 Pro died yesterday and I replaced it today with a 512MB BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC. My copy of FSX Deluxe hasn't arrived yet but the FSX demo runs great with the new card... aircraft & water detail at max and it is stutter free.But... I do have a few problems trying to run FS04 with it. The 3D dipiction of the selected aircraft is black... I mean the entire window is black. When I get into a flight the interior 2D & 3D is great but from an exterior view the aircraft is grayed out. Also one of the many bridges in the area I was flying in was grayed too.I was flying over the AeroSoft (I think AeroSoft?) Manhattan scenery and man it never looked so …

Hi, I would like to buy a new PC and I'd like some advice on which type of system would best suit my simulator needs. Currently I'm running a P4 2.8GHZ, 1GB Ram, ATI Radeon 9600. I run FS2004 with a lot of addons and basically it is impossible to play. Please advise me on the best motherboard, CPU and Graphics card to enjoy my simulator hobby. I am not rich and would prefer to keep the whole thing up to $1000. Any advise will be greatly appreciated,ThanksRob.

Hi,I'm making a couple of minor upgrades to my Dell 8300 3 ghz machine to help run FS 9 a bit better before the release of DX 10/Vista. I'll fool around with FSX but am not expecting great performance but get pretty good FS 9 performance as is. So, I'm adding another gig of RAM and have networked ActiveSky to another machine via WideFS. I would like to upgrade my ATI 9800 XT card but the Dell only has a 305W power supply so I'm confused as to what candidate cards are out there that will work with my existing system. I don't want to get into changing out the power supply. Some of the later generation cards don't seem to perform much better than the 9800 in the benchmarks. I…

Hi there!I just got the latest FSX and wanted to try it out, since I'm really curious about this simulator. Now whenever I try to fly around, with any setting, FSX is totally unplayable!!No matter if I have hight quality, low quality, any screen resolution - it just doesn't matter, it's like almost nothing moves!I upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers - nothing. But I'm worried about this, because the system it's installed on is pretty good I guess:Pentium D 8202GB DDRGforce 7800 GTX with 256MB DDR3 onboardAsus P5WD2 Premium MainboardIs there any known bug with this combination or am I doing something completly wrong?Hope to fix this with this mass of people on this site.…

Guys,I have an ATI X800Pro running on a AMD64 3000, 1 GB RAM. I use the latest Omega drivers and Tray Tools. I have set up the profiles so that FS2004 runs on AA6/AF16, 1280x960, O/C 540/520, and I live in a tropical warm weather country (although the room has aircon). When I am running FS I sometimes have the computer hang suddenly. I recently had a look at the hardware monitor and I noticed that the GPU temperature spikes up just before this event. My usual GPU temp is around 50-55 degs C (warm climate) but during this event the temp goes to 65-73 degs C! It appears that at this point the card shuts down and freezes the comp. Interestingly the Environment temp continues …

Hi all. I'm a bit at loss here. Even when I try to push FSX to the max, it seams the machine is not giving its 110% ;-)Take a look at image of the task manager below. It pretty well represents the cpu usage through monitoring a flight session. The max it will reach is about 62-63% throughout the run. Most often it hovers around 50-54% has can be seen in the 2 rectangularwindows. A friend tells me that its CPU Usage alway shows 100% during a similar run11 I think he has a P4, 3.4 or 3.7 MHz and he's got 1 GB of ram memory as I have. The device manager reports the computor as a multiprocessor type!!?? Yet it's a single one, P4, 3.0 MHz with hyperthreading capacity (it is set…

I installed FSX successfully an could run it on my computer for about 5-10 minutes. Then there are three possibilities: i) windows xp freezes (I have to restart the computer the hard way); ii) the system just shuts down and restarts; iii) I get a bluescreen with the message "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" so I have to start the system by pushing the restart button of my computer.I am using FS 9 for several years without having any of these problems (I believe its my first shutdown or bluescreen with this computer system).I updated the NVIDIA driver, ran the Norton Utilities over my system and minimized the graphic options in FSX (everything to minimal") and tried differen…

This may seem like a silly question, but knowing Microsoft -- and before I go out and buy the product ...(Q.) I tend to reformat/reinstall Windows XP every 60-90 days. I have this luxury on my gaming machine which isn't used for much else. Will my copy of FS-X Deluxe allow me to install FS-X on my machine as many times as I desire? Thanks in [email protected]
