(In Fs9):It is a LOT faster, yeah. And very smooth. But the quality of coloring and the quality of texturing are definitely inferior to my older X850 XT PE. I am kinda torn about this because I got the GTO card to enable me to go for MATROX Triplehead2go screens. But at this rate I am not really sure if I want to do it. The ATI Radeon card was just....more solid with its rendering, smoother and more subtle. There is something slightly imperfect and "wavy" or "watery" at times with the nVidia card in SPOT view. Sky textures at dusk are less well rendered and visibly wavier with layers of light and dark blue leading into the night sky. Dark night land textures are q…

Here are the specs for the laptop I am using which I think are OK for FSX to run on (though i am not sure if i need to upgrade them)CPU - Intel Celeron M370 1.50 GHzMemory - 512MbHDD - 60GBGraphics - 915GM 128MB Microsoft Windows XPHere are a list of problems that i am having with FSX if anyone can help me then it would be appreciated thank you.The Cabin and Tail lights of the A321 and the B737-800 (both flyable and Ai aircraft) do not light up even though the Wing lights do.The further i zoom out the more blurred the graphics get, but the further i zoom in the less blurred they get (even though the aircraft and buildings are slightly blurred and when zoomed in).The more…

Hi all,I'm currently thinking of investing in a new system and I've read alot about the various Intel processors on offer at the mo. I was wondering what the best choice would be for running FSX on? Also, what would be the safest bet regarding video cards? Or am I going in the wrong direction and should I be looking towards an AMD processor?I'm not totally computer illiterate but there seems so much on offer I'm finding it difficult to decide what to go for. If it helps my budget is around

I've been trying to upgrade my system memory and have had no success.First of all, I have (2) 512MB memory modules installed and am trying to increase it to 2 Gig total. When I add the 1 Gig,(only have 3 memory slots), FS locks my computer so that I have to kill the power to restart. All 3 FS, 2002, 2004, and FSX do it. All work ok if I use 1.5 Gigs (1 Gig plus 1 512mb).The other weird thing is that anytime I have the 1 Gig module installed, either by it self or in combination with the other 2, the computer will only boot up if it is cold. If I turn it off and try to reboot, I get a series of long beeps and nothing come up on the monitor. Let it cool down for about 1…

FS9 had separate assignable controls for gear up and gear down. In FSX, I can only find a gear toggle switch. This makes it impossible to assign up/down to one of the toggle switches on the CH Yoke.Any ideas?

Hi.On an German language forum i`ve read about an performance plusafter updating to the latest DirectX 9c october 2006 version.(to download just google for directx_oct2006_redist.exe )It should bring you more FPS and kill the problem of blurry textures.I don`t have the FSX yet, so i can`t verifybut other members of that forum confirmed this effect.I don`t know if its been discussed here:An other topic there is reporting of the factthat the FSX is not bringing modern GPUs to sweat,so the temps are not even near as high as by other modern 3D games.Only the Graphic-RAM is used strongly, and of course the CPU and RAM is.Greetings from Germany,OxKing

Has anybody with a Dell XPS Gen 3 system upgraded with this CPU?If you did, was it simply a drop-in-place, or did you have performance issues of any kind?.The most recent (Gen 3) BIOS of A07 will most likely be the last one. I'm curious to know if this BIOS can handle the E6600. The socket can. Thanks in advance,Mitch R.

I don't have FSX yet (still waiting for my preorder), so I'm following the forum concerning tweaks and planning for FSX. I've been interested that many are finding the helicopter to be much more realistic and flyable in FSX. Although I've been a simmer since the beginning of FS, I have never really flown helicopters and thought I might like to try it in FSX.My question is regarding controllers for helicopters. I use a CH Products yoke and rudder pedals for my regular flying. I also have an older MS force feedback joystick (not USB, but gameport?) that I haven't used since Combat Flight Simulator.Stupid question time: Can you fly the helicopter via a yoke, or must you…

nothing in the performance of FSX changed. NOTHING.Other games, even Aquamark3 shows three times more frames than before (old card:ATI 9800XT 256meg. New one Gainward 7800GS 256 megs). It's a pity. What shall i do now ?? Even playing with the settings has no affect. it doesn't matter if i turn car traffic off, ai planes to 25% and all other settings med-low. I get 5 fps at the tokyo mission as the helicopter still stand at the airport.....HELP !!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody ever seen third party software that can do the job of WinXP Device Manager ?My XP version stopped working when I updated to SP2 some time ago and it's a real pain not having it when something goes wrong on the system.BTW, I've tried every "fix" I can find recommended for this problem but nothing has done the trick yet. Can't even use my "restore" feature since. The SP2 update has done several nasty things to my system.. wish I would have just skipped it altogether now.

When I press on the "." key or the joystick button assigned to "Brakes" ("repeat" is also on) BEFORE applying the brakes using the pedals, the brakes work as expected. If I use the key or button AFTER applying the brakes using the pedals, I get no brake response. The only way to initiate the brakes is via the pedals.Kind of a pain when I want to easily apply even braking. I have tried deleting the Brakes key and button assignment and reassigning but no luck.Any ideas?

Hello everybody,I've got a strange problem, I hope there is someone who can help.In the first FSX demo I get an average of 30 FPS, around 9-18 over autogen trees and houses, up to 50 over water with clear skies. I get all the great water effects and the sim runs smoothly. However, the ground textures only load reluctantly and blur quickly, plus there are strange texture problems as illustrated in the attached screens. Please look particularly at #3 and #5 - the wreck in #5 is the big ship near St Maarten airport.Demo #2 and FSX Deluxe retail version nearly do not run on my system. Even with *all* sliders set to minimun, no autogen at all I get between 0.3 and 1 FPS (no typ…

Hi,I've done a little research and it appears that I have some room for improvement of my existing self built PC. I was hoping to get some opinions as to the possibility of better performance versus cost especially in FSX.My current system:P4 non-HT 2.59 oc'd to 2.9ASUS MB P4PE, ATI Radeon 850 GT 256 mb, 1 gb DDR333 ram,Western Digital 7200 rpm PATAPossible upgrades- P4 Hyper Thread 3.06 CPU (unsure of oc possibility) & SATA HD (133)I will not be in a position to build a whole new system for 6 months and I wonder if these 2 improvements would make much of a difference. Thanks in advance for your feedback!Doug

Hi all, I have just upgraded from 2004 to FSX. I currently am running a AMD X2 3800, 1gig pc3200, a ATI X850XT running at 1280x1024 32bit to a Samsung 19"LCD, and the S-video HD out to a 26"Dell LCD TV, then a nVidia MX4000 PCI card to another Samsung 19"LCD at 1280x1024 32bit color. I have just tried to start FSX and it says "Flight Simulator has detected one or more of your monitor is using 24 bit color quality. Flight Simulator is incompatible with this display mode. Would you like to change your display settings?" I select yes, and I see that I am running both all monitors at 32bit. I can even disable all but one and it is unchanged. I am up to date with my drivers as…

Seeing faults with RAM in FSX not seen in other games. I am wondering if others are finding or suspecting that perhaps FSX is so RAM-intensive that it might bring out faults in existing RAM modules which went unnoticed prior. My problem was/is occuring at load-up of FSX game start. It would start to load and then freeze on the initial splash screen panel. I could confirm this with Task Manager after it would go to "Not Responding" status in Task Manager.During the past week I have very patiently isolated the problem to either FSX itself (code) or to my RAM modules. (And I do mean isolated: tried two motherboards, different graphics cards, different PSUs, all combinations …

Hi All,It will be some time before I can afford a total system upgrade, so I was thinking of just changing from a ATI 9800 Pro Video card to a GeForce 7600 GT (AGP). My system is as follows:P4 2.53 ghz, 768 mb RDRAM, Gigabyte GA-8IXHP MB, 350 watt PS, Aluminum case w3 fansI usually run 1280 x 960 resolution through a Viewsonic 19 in G90f monitor.I'm looking for improved smoothness in VC's such as the Dreamfleet A36 and Baron. I can't even run the VC in the FFG Saab due to low frame rates (2d works fine). Is this a waste of money? Will I see any significant improvement? I'm only thinking of FS9, FSX will probably have to wait for a whole new system.Dale

I got my FSX running good for the System I am running however there is a problem with my CH Pro Pedals that Ive been unable to solve. When ever I move my rudder pedal it also activates my differential brakes. In FS9 my brakes would only activate when I pressed on the top of my pedal. Now it activates when ever I touch the pedals. Can anyone offer ant help? Also I did all the tips on this website http://www.fox-fam.com/wordpress/?page_id=41 and Its doubled my FPS in FSX. I now get 20-28fps with all my sliders set about 50% and My system is no rocket. Here is my specsWinXP Media Center EditionP4 3.06 Ghz1GB Ram256mb Geforce 6200Pete

Has this CH pedals brake problem from demo1 returned in the retail? The beta runs the pedals fine but the demo1 kept showing them locked on with no fix. I find it hard to believe that the problem would be fixed in the beta but then would return in the final? No way im flying without my pedals and this is the 3rd or 4th time ive seen someone say that they were having trouble with their pedals and brakes always being on??? Whats the story on this bug?

http://www.geocities.com/[email protected]_fs9.jpgThis is in FS9, see how the detailed terrain textures only extend so far out, then cleanly end, and beyond that are blurrier textures? I've tolerated this for years, but I'm wondering what causes this? My video card is an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 128MB. Is this due to limited video RAM, or is there a graphics setting I have set too low? Or does everyone get this in FS9?I can say that FSX has solved this problem for me. Now I've got the blurry terrain textures from right below me to as far as I can see. :)Mark KuebelerWestWind Airlineswww.flywestwind.com
