Well, I won't be buying a machine capable of running osx well enough to enjoy it any time soon...So I'm wondering - what are the "minimum specs" to be able to run a fairly tricked-out FS9?By that I mean with many options on or all the way up, constant 24 fps, great graphics with AA, and whichever add-ons are generally thought of as the most system-taxing? (including nice airports..)I understand this is a fairly esoteric exercise... but I'm interested in your opinions!I figure if I can spend 1/6th or 1/8th of what's needed to "really enjoy" fsx, I'm in good shape..thxAndrew

The landing switch on the CH Products yoke is not working correctly in FSX. It works in only one direction. Pushing the switch up extends and retracts the gear. Pushing the switch down has no effect. Changing assignments in the FSX settings sections reverses the effect. The landing gear extends and retracts when pushing down, but the gear does not work when pushing the switch up.Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi All,Can those of you with 512mb vid card's download the small attachment (memstat2.5) and post your peak video memory usage in FSX (with global textures no less than high). Start memstat, load FSX to the tarmac and them memstat will record your peak memory usages. (alttab or exit game whatever.)Reason,Had 7800GT Copper 256mb card. With memstat, showed all 256mb used up. No blurries. Wanted a 512mb card so ...Bought 7900GTX 512, memstat only shows 149mb being used. Took card back, figured card was nfg - and huge blurries with 1-1/2 to 2fps gain.Got 7950GTKO 512, 256mb reporting with no gain over 7800GT Copper in frames. Huge blurries again.I would like to know if any of…

My computer vendor has just replaced my Radeon 9800 card for the second time. The replaced card was only four months old and went bad soon after I had made some tweaks to FSX. These tweaks included changing default.xml to default.bak, adding the TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_....... lines and changing their values and using the ATI Tray Tools to tweak the shaders. Do you think that any of these tweaks could have harmed this old model card? Do you think that the high demands of FSX could have done so?Thanks,Dan

Is anyone using the X52 controllers from Saitek with FSX? I moved away from Saitek some years ago because of problems with the X45 that couldn't be resolved.I currently use CH yoke and pedals. It is extremely difficult to properly land the Bell 206 with this combination and would entertain looking at something different if others have had success with it.

To all of you intelligent folks:Quick question....I use this hardware and now do all of my flying in the virtual cockpits. I remember seeing (somewhere) a post about tweeking the FS config file to make the runway approach lights (VASI, etc) appear normal when flying in the horizontally expanded view that the Matrox hardware allows. Does anyone know what these new settings to the config file should be??? Thanks in advance. R/Mike

Hello guys. I've got a problem that hopefully someone will be able to help me with here.On certain games, my computer will freeze up and I have to do a manual shutdown. The games that have the most troubles are Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Red Orchestra, and Company of Heroes. This started happening a while back after I had updated my Nvidia drivers. Nvidia support claims that the newest drivers would have fixed this problem, but it didn't. Can anyone here help me on fixing this problem? (If it involves rolling back drivers, could someone please suggest a website, I can't find them on Nvidia's main site.)Or is this related to a different problem?

I am running FSX on a machine with following: Intel Pentium 4 630, 3.00 GHZ ASUS P5S800-VM motherboard, 1022 MB ram ATI Radeon 9550 video (secondary AGP) 256MB memory, 250MHZ DirectX 9.0cwith most sliders set in the middle, I am getting between 3 and 20fps; turning view is very jerky; spot plane jumps all over the screen; unexpected fluctuations in framerate - for example, on ils approach I may be getting 15fps but every now and then a stutter and drop to 5fps for no apparent reason!I have even tried with autogen scenery OFF -- still same problem...BUT what really puzzles me is that throughout Windows Task Manager shows that cpu usage never rises above 55%. Concerning FSX I have added another gig of memory and upgraded my video card to a Radeon X1600. I have added all the fixes and tweaks mentioned in these forums and I did have some improvement to FPS, I find the simulator to be totally unacceptable in performance. I turn off my anti-virus software and have no other applications running. I have always keep windows very clean. Degfraged, internet files deleated on a regular basis and run scan disk often. I can't believe some people are getting 20 to 30 FPS with everything maxed out. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.Dell XPS800 FSB2.8 Pent 4 processor2 gigs memoryRadeon X1600 AGP 512 memoryAudigy II SB80 gig hard …

Hi there.the other day i added 1GB of ram and now i have2.the problem is that Win98SE (i run dual boot) doesn't start anymore on my pc :-(i did a check on the net to find a workaround but had no succes at all after several editing applied. i have also found...This setting limits memory usage on your computer to the first MB, where is a number of megabytes. This setting adds the "MaxPhysPage=" line to the System.ini file, where is a hexidecimal value of the amount of memory to be used. ... but dunno which number i should enter in Now, can anyone experienced help me?thanks in advanceLuigi ;-)

Has anyone been able to setup/use reversers using the CH Throttle Quadrant in FSX? I was able to do this easily in FS2004 using the commercial version of FSUIPC. Or am I just gonna have to by the new version of FSUIPC?If so, please enlighten me on how :)

Okay now I have been a filghtsimmer since FS98 and have bought and built both Intel and AMD base computers. I have yet to build a system that would run FS2000 thru FSX flawlessly and of coarse money is no object when building an Extreme Gamer PC at least for me. Now here is my and or (Our Question) What type of PC do you guys have to run these games without any issues from fps etc, etc? I think we all want to know. But a have a funny feeling you won't.:-hmmm

I currently have a Geforce 6800 - 128mb video card on my PC. FSX definately needs more than 128mb's of video memory so I'm looking at replacement options. I have an AGP board, so this is the best card I can find that will work, and it is a pretty decent price, any thoughts?http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...10071702&catid=

Gentlemen,I am looking forward to a hardware upgrade for FSX. Question: would it be best to buy one super DX10 video card plus the Matrox option for three montiors or would it be better to back down a bit on video cards but go SLI to drive three monitors?

This applies to both FS9 and FSX.I often tweak the settings via profiles in the Nvidia Control Panel/Applet.But I've often wondered if it isn't merely the *Global" profile that I'm seeing when I run FS9/FSX since I run both of them entirely in Windowed Mode.Do the profiles even apply in Windowed mode? If so, how the heck does that work since I'm always switching back and forth between FS and other applications (this web browser, for instance)? Do the profile settings change on-the-fly as quick as the eye can see between "Global" and "FS2004"?If anyone has a definitive answer or some experience in the matter, I'd love to find this out once and for all. I've asked before,…

Are the latest core duo CPU really supported by fsx in Windows vista only or also in XP ? in other words should we wait for vista or upgrade now (I don't want to buy a new cpu mem Mb combination to run fsx on 1 core only)

Dear all,I was an intense FS9 user until yesterday when I bought and installed FSX. I knew my system (Pentium 4 2.4 GHz - Geforce Ti4600 - 1Gb RAM - HD 80 MB) would not be too generous on FPS but I decided to make the step. There is one very unpleasant drawback now, apart from lower range FPS: moving road traffic (wheels) and some building roofs are shown in very weird colours, ranging from vivid yellow to green or pink. Is there a way to overcome this, people with same experience, solutions ... apart from investing in new hardware which I would like to do when vista is in (full) force?BTW: most recent nVidia driver was installed (sept.2006)Please help me out here!!!G…

After reading all those FSX performance analysis threads, it finally hit me. See, those those video card manufactures publish spec of their cards. They all talk about data bus size, memory size, fill rates, etc. They never say how fast their GPUs run the shader programmers, or the number of shader instructions the GPU can execute per second, and we know that FS9 doesn't use shaders. So, well, to bring FSX to FS9 performance, last night I decide to do a little experiement. I downloaded RivaTuner and disable the pixel shader and vectex shader. Then fired up FSX. Guess, what FS9 performance with everything max out with no mod. I got to say this though, some of the lighting e…
