http://www.realworldbenchmarks.com/article...3&pagenumber=12Here you can see that the 8800 GTS gives a better framerate than the 7950GX2.I had the opportunity to test the 8800 GTX also and it gave no extra framerate compared to the 8800 GTS.That means for me that processor is again the most important part for framerates. So an E6700 processor with a 8800 GTS graphics card will probably give a better framerate than an E6600 processor with a 8800 GTX graphics card, but the sets cost about the same.

I know a lot of people have gone out and bought Intel's new Core2duo processors for FSX and ther is lots of feedback about FSX performance with them. What I would like to know is how well does FS9 run with them? Are they a big improvement over the top Athlons? I don't wan't to hear about benchmarks only how FS9 performs especially with heavy weather, detailed airports, complex cpu hungry planes, and lots of AI.Thanks, Carlos

I'm looking at some possible options for when I eventually buy my new system. In my current system, I use 2 SATA drives configured in a RAID 0 stripe, but this statistically doubles the chance that I will lose the volume. To get some fault tolerance (and throw in another spindle) I was considering a 3 drive RAID 5 configuration in my new system, but hadn't heard much about anyone using an array with Flight Sim, probably due to cost and available drive bays. Anyone using a RAID 5 array with Flight Sim? I know that each write to a RAID 5 array incurs a 4 IO write penalty, but reads don't suffer any penalty. Does anyone know if RAID5 read IO causes any extra CPU overhea…

Well, I've been using FS2004 for about a year, in a Pentium 4 1.6 GHz, 512 MB RAM and an old ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500 with 64 MB, of which only 32 survive :(.The first recommendation I read everywhere for increasing performance in FS9 is to get the latest drivers for your devices. I e-mailed ATI about a problem I had some time ago, and I told them that I was using Catalyst 6.5 (the latest at that date). They said that "With your product you should not be running Catalyst 6.5 and the latest MMC software. The last recommended release for your product is Catalyst 4.10 and MMC 9.02".So I uninstalled Catalyst 6.5, and installed 4.10, but I didn't like it and installed the…

Hi AllI was having major stuttering and sound issues that crippled my FS9 operations, narrowed it down to a sound problem, even after updatin to the latest sound drivers same issue, purchased a program called driver detective, scanned all my drivers and it downloaded the best drivers, after reboot my FS9 is perfect and smooth at 30 FPS, I am very happy once again that I can fly the cj1 AGAINRegardsWayne

My ATI 9800pro is on the fritz... What's the best most recommended video card out there these days for FS9? I'm used to paying upwards around $400 for a card so price is not a problem...

Hi,I am thinking about replacing my Athlon 3500+ processor and would like some advice from you guys. My "thinking" goes like this: FSX is out, it doesn't really support dual core processors, next version will be out in three years or so. After my recent RAID0 crash I only installed FS9 and am likely to keep it for a loooong time to come. I would like better performance than this: FlyTampa Vienna, off the runway, facing the terminal area in PMDG B744 and TrackIR running and 100% AI I only get between 8-10fps in VC. (slightly overclocked with Gigabyte Easytune)Does it make sense to go for the fastest single core processor at this point? Like Athlon FX-57 (my board supports …

Hello GuysI have after installing FSX, given it up, it was a big setback for me compared to the nearly perfect FS9 world...But after reinstalling FS9 i noticed a very big difference in one particulary item, namely the look of the water compared with the shiny lively one in FSX - Much Much better. I bought then FSwater and eagerly expected a much better renderation, but sadly, water in my FS9 is just like a big piece of liveless cheewingum, no shine, no live, no nothing, just a big green mashed toad. And now to my question, not long ago i changed my Grapich card to a ASUS Nvidia N6600gt extreme -128 ddr3 ram - 128 bit bus - DirectX 9.0 support etc. running with a ADM64 and…

Hi,let me talk about something other than Google Earth:Recently on digg.com I found articles stating that the Nintendo Wii controller has been hacked to be used with PCs and Macs. You can make use of the accelerometer sensors and just recently also the IR functionality (allowing fine grained mouse pointer control). For those who don't know. The Wii is a gaming console from Nintendo which features an unprecedented wireless controller design with pointing functionality and accelerometer sensors, allowing the controller to be handled like e.g. as a golf club, sword, baseball bat, boxing glove, etc...Could this emulate the TrackIR functionality? Image yourself with a Wii contr…

Looking for some advice folks. PC is AMD 64 x2 4400+, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB SATA drive, 128 MB Nvidia 6600 GT. I run all addon apps on a second networked PC. Been looking at graphics card upgrades. Nvidia 7900 512mb or 256Mb looks likely option. Question I have is ....... is the 512Mb card worth the extra money ? I know for many games the answer is yes, but the only "game" I play is FS. So will FS9 really make use of the more powerful 512Mb card or is the 256Mb a more cost effective option ? Suppose I'm really asking, is there a limit to the graphics memory FS can make use of ? ThanksAndrew
