I'm putting my new computer together piece by piece at Newegg.com. I am stuck when it comes to the processor. I would like to get the E6700, but it comes in at $511. The E6600 however is just .24 GHz slower and it costs just over $300. The price difference between the E6600 and 6500 is no where near as dramatic. What's that all about? Am I missing something?Tim

After tweaking and following the advice from the forum I still have never seen anything close to 12FPS. So I am through with FSX until I can build a beefier system. My 2.4 with a gig and half ram and GeForce 5950 ultra just doesn't cut it. Guess it's back to Far Cry.:-(

Is the difference between Ultra DMA IDE disks and SATA disks worth the price of buying new disks. I have two 80gb disks now.Regards,Dick Boley

Hello,So I am having some problems with the VC mode in FS9. I just built this new (but budgeted) system and I would consider it more than capable to display the VC at decent frame rates. Here are the specs on this system:ASUS P4S800D-X MoboIntel Prescott 3.0 HT (overclocked to 3.15 GHz, runs at 55* C while playing FS)1 GB of PC3200 RAM (4x256mb) @ 400 MhzGeforce 7600 GS 256 MB with Latest drivers.80 GB HDD, 2 Partitions...14 GB and 66 GBNow, I can load up the default Cessna perfectly fine and all is well in all Views. The framerate maxes out at the default setting (25 FPS) and runs smooth. Whenever I hop in the PMDG 737/747 or the FFS Saab 340 I get unacceptable frame rate…

I can't have a dualmonitor setup and use FSX in fullscreen mode. Is this not possible? I have tried setting the two monitors to the same resolution and refreshrate and also first enabling dual monitor support in windowed mode (as suggested in prior threads). Still it won't work.

Hi all, I have been using my Saitek X52 for a couple of years now and it is starting to feel a little "sticky", that is to say that the stick does not move as fluid as it should. I wanted to take it apart to clean it up and oil it, or whatever is necessary, but I am concerned about not being able to get it back together. Has anyone here had to take theirs apart yet? If so, can someone please guide me through the process? Thanks for any help.

I am getting ready to start putting together a new system for FSX.I would like to know if anyone has a recommendation for a good LGA775 motherboard? I have been partial to MSI Motherboards in the past, but don't see anything from them that impresses me for the new Pentium DuaCore. I am not to concerned about having SLI since I doubt if I will use it, but if it's there I'll take it.I know Asus makes a good MB. but I've had a bad experience with one and now I'm leery of them. Should I be?How about a Abit, Gigabyte or an IBM board are they any good? Anyone have any good or bad experiences with them?I usually do all of my hardware purchasing at New Egg.com. So hopefully they…

I'm sticking with FS9 until mid to fall 2007 when I will rebuild to whatever is just behind the bleeding edge at the time for FSX. I now run a AMD +4400 939 socket (not overclocked), Nvidia 7600GT 256MB video card, with 2G ram and fly mostly FS9 on a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 915n (which I love!).In the interim I was considering buying a Dell 24" LCD monitor, but reading through Neweggs reviews I see stellar reviews of the Samsung 244t BK 24" for $839.Will the Nvidia 7600GT drive either of these monitors for me with some respect while I await my FSX rebuild?? Are the gauge stretches in FS9 tolerable. I understand FSX has native support for widescreen, but FS9 does not.Any op…

Since FSX or 9 were not developed to take advantage of dual core or multicore, what is the best route to go for a CPU in the foreseeable future? I have an aging P4 [email protected], and at some point will need to upgrade. I will not be doing this in the next 6 months probably unless my mainboard or CPU goes, but with any knowldege of CPU roadmaps, which way would make the most sense?Noel

I am running a rather fast rig core2duo 6700, 2 gig ram, dual nvidia 7800's in SLI. But the base CS 757-200 runs at less than 1 frame/sec in vc view. I have unloaded and reloaded several times. no improvement, even with game settings on minimal. Captain Sim's tech help does little other than respond with a rather defensive canned statement that the problem is FSX.

I'd just like to say, for the record, that you shouldn't underestimate the importance of CPU core temperature when evaluating the performance of FSX.I've had my copy of FSX for more than 4 weeks now, and let me say that I've only just gotten it to run for more than 10 or 15 minutes without the whole system crashing. Throughout the last few weeks I've wondered long and hard about why I've had so much trouble with my installation. I followed the procedure recommended by the support site, and independently of their advice I doubled my RAM, and upgraded my GPU. But now it seems that CPU core temperature was the problem all along because I've just flown for more than an hour w…

Synopsis: what do I spend $250 or less on to make FS-X go faster?I am running FS-X on a Dell 8400 with 1Gb RAM. It has a rather unusual video card - an ATI 800SE with 128Mb RAM. It's very difficult to find info on this card as it seems to be a Dell-OEM-only variant of the 800 series of cards. What I (think I) know about it is that it has a 400 mHz core clock and (unusually) a 256 bit memory bus. When I bought this system a couple years ago, my original intent was to immediately replace that card with something like a (then new-tech) GeForce 6600 or similar, but I found that I got quite acceptable performance in FS9, WoW, and FPS games such as FEAR and the most recent flavo…

IF you have download and used AquaMark3 (freeware) to test your system. (Video and CPU).It runs a few gaming test on it and displays a nice set of benchmark numbers. The thing I noticed was... If I config my nVidea to say "Anisotropic" Filerting to Application. and "Antialiasing" to Application. I get a very high number. Almost 155FPS.But IF Change each of that "Anisotropic" and "Antialiasing" to 16X. The bench mark falls drastically. But for Flight sim...FS9 and FSX, it has not bearing on FPS but setting each to 16X hardware controlled rather than Application, its much better as far as quality is concerned.Does anyone know..why that would affect the Aquamark3 benchmark?Ma…

Hello,My problem is as follows:I use 2 sound cards. A Soundblaster Audigy SE with latest drivers, which has a 5.1 sound system and a mic on it and a SoundMAX AD1985 AC'97, onboard an ASUS P4C800 M/B, with driver version 5.12.1.3630 2/6/2003 (unfortunately the latest that ASUS has released) with my headphones on it.Outside FS everything appears to work fine. I have tested playing sounds in both outputs and using the mic at the same time and I've had no issues. But as soon as I launch either FS9 or FSX and both outputs are working the problems begin. In FSX the screen goes black after a while and immediately afterwards I get an "object crash" message. If I persist and reload…

OK.. Well.. I have been facing a peculiar problem that started recently. My system keeps shutting down. Yes.. It just reboots. I was thinking it was my sound card or driver or something... because.. whenever I change the sound, like when I increase the throttle or I simply increase the volume in my sound system. The system shuts down abruptly.I can recreate this problem. I have to go into FS9..and fly with low volume it seems to be doing good..when I increase the sound real loud.. it reboots. This started happening since I added the nVidia 8800GTX Card.I am thinking..that this could be due to not enough PSU juice. This is my config.1. ASUS P5W DH deluxe MB2. Core 2 Duo E660…
