Not sure what's going on with others' core2 machines, but i just built my new core2 machine a few days ago and my frame rate effectively doubled. I get 22fps on the seattle runway now with sliders 1/2-3/4 of the way up and water at 1 high. I'm also running at 3840x1024 with 4x AA and 16X AF. This is also the default settings on the cpu as I have not started my o/c yet. I will be o/c'ng to 3.4ghz this weekend and expect another 3 or 4 fps from that. City flying is now very smooth for me. New York at max settings was only 12fps in spots but overall even it was over 15fps. Most suburb and bush flying is between 40 and 50 fps now which is where i do most of my flying anyway. …

FYI, in case you were contemplating this, I can attest it works great.I decided to quit effing around and install a Sharp thru-the-wall A/C unit right next to my PC case's location. It is their smallest, whisper quiet unit, I think about 9,000 BTU or something. It has a nice remote. I have the case cover off of my Lian Li case, and I have taken a piece of 4" flex hose (dryer vent hose I think is what is was) and route the bulk of the A/C unit's fan flow dead at the CPU HSF (stock retail intel). The rest of the air ends up blowing directly onto the mainboard, video & DIMMS, with a goodly flow down into the HDD area where the 3 Seagate 15K.3 SCSIs sit.Depending on t…

I am thinking of putting in an extra PCI card (XFX GeForce FX5200 256MB DDR, PCI, TV-Out/DVI) for 3 monitor support on my AMD Athlon X2 6400 pc, with already a 7900GS installed. Has anyone experience with a comparable setup? Would a Matrox Triplehead solution produce better fps? I have only 1 PCI-E slot available...

I read about this here: http://www.fs2004.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100341 "Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66 GHz/4MB L2/1066MHz FSB) and E6600 (2.4 GHz/4MB L2/1066MHz FSB) is planned to cut from $530 and $316 to $316 and $224 respectively, a 40.3% and a 29.1% off." It looks like this is going to happen in January. I'd been planning to get the E6600. At the new price, would the E6700 be a better deal?

This has been posted on a german IT news site. They are usually well-informed and are considered the #1 source for it professionals in german speaking countries. The information is not official and not confirmed by Intel officially, but it seems that we'll have to wait at least half a year from now until the clock speeds for the core 2 processors will rise significantly. The new (still speculative) Core 2 Duos will run at FSB1366, resulting in up to 3 GHz internal clock speed.According to the article, the E6600 and 6700 will remain the fastest Intel dualcore CPUs until then. Only the (much more expensive) Core 2 extreme *may* appear in a faster version earlier. The quadcore…

Here is a good review of the new Nvidia GeForce 8 Series (XFX 8800 GTS/GTX) video cards. Hello. I'm setting up a multi monitor setup and this is my first time using more then 1 monitor for gaming. I have 1 Radeon X1900 GT to work with in this computer. Both screens are plugged in each port of the video card. For now it's more for testing purpose since well hook more up later. So for now I would like to set the front view on 1 monitor and maybe the frontright view on another. Is this possible? I tried the method of going in window mode and dragging the screens but that wasn't the outcome I wanted. Thanks for any help and sorry if this has been discussed in the past.

Does anybody know of a dealer for these two items that will ship to an APO? Even if you're not shure about the shipping let me know where you got your's I'll go check it out. I found a good deal on both of them at gogamer.com only to find out they don't ship to an APO. Would prefer to order from the same vendor but at this point I don't really care.TIA,Blaze

How much worse is the amd athlon 64 x2 architecture than the new intels? Im running my 3800 x2 am2 at 2.81 and would have thought my fps would be better, right now the fluctuate from 25-36 dropping to 19 sometimes for about 10 seconds when high detail scenery loads. I would have thought I would see much better, has amd really fallen that much behind? This scenario was with the pmdg 738 flying from widup's kslc to simflyers klas. After I landed the fps rose back up to 22-25, but nothing spectacular.

My system is a Dell 9150/XP professional/SP2/P4 3.4GHz/2GB Ram/Nvidia GeForce 6800/300GB HD. I'm fairly new to FS9. Frame rates drop when I used the SkyDecks panel & the PMDG747-00, also when using Heathrow & similar airports. Most sliders are set to the right except for weather. I wonder if the 6800 graphics card is up to the job, & if a better one would help? If so, what? Thanks,TerryW.

I remember seeing a post on this several months ago, but I failed to locate it. I apoligize for any duplication. I see that MS has another DirectX update available (dated 12/13/06). My question is how important is it to add these DirectX End-User Runtime updates when they come? Do they make a noticable performance difference in running FS9? I'm always a little hesitant to install updates when my system is purring along like a new born kitten. Unless,of course, they are critical to my performance or security. Thanks in advance for any repliesJohn M

I'm planning on using the insides of an old USB 3 axis joystick as toebrakes and rudder. X axis will become L toe brakeY axis will become R toe brakeZ(throttle) axis will become rudder.I'm confused about how the calibration will go as Windows calibration screen identifies X and Y as going from, say -127 to +127 and Z as going from 0 to 255. But for the application I need X and Y to go from 0 to 255 and Z to go from -127 to +127. And what happens about centring? Can Windows sort this out on its own? I don't want to get a registered version of FSUIPC at present as I'll be switching to FSX sometime early next year and don't want to have to buy 2 versions of FSUIPC.Thanks f…
