Hi Yall...I was wondering if any of you are using Simped Rudder Pedals?? I've been eyeing these things for a while now...They are expensive....But if they are of the quality shown in the pictures they may be worth it??I was interested in the F-16C Pedals with the Variable Brakes which will mate up to my Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar...Then again..I thought I may just go for the USB version which I could use along with my CH Yoke as well?? Probably the way to go there...Looks like they would run @ $350...So I'd really love to hear some feedback if anyone has any before spending that kind of cash...I currently have CH Po Pedals...They work just fine...So if the Simped's are cru…

I currently am using an Athlon64 3800 single core (2.4Ghz) with a PNY Nvidia 7900GS. I am using 2 sticks of 512Mb DDR400 speed memory and want to upgrade to 2Gb of RAM. I understand that in some situations, there is a disadvantage of using four sticks of memory 512x4 for 2Gb over 1024x2 for 2Gb. How much of an actual performance hit will I take in FS9 by saving money and upgrading using 4x512 over having to purchase two entirely new 1024Gb sticks of RAM?Do memory timings matter in FS9?Thanks for any help in clarrifying this for me.RH

not to long ago folks were saying that a fast single core cpu would actually work better for FS (FS9 at least) then a dual core of the same speed (or I think that is what I was hearing)does that still hold true today?

I am creating my own profile for FSX using my X-52 and so far have been unable to find a way to use the rotary knobs on my throttle as trim wheels. I would like to use the top rotary (the one with button E in the middle) to trim ailerons. Button I rotary knob for the rudders and the mouse wheel for elevator. I have tried using the slider for elevator control but have found it way to sensative, maybe there is a way to ruduce it's sensativity and use it for the elevator? Thanks for any help.Blaze

I am building a new system and was wondering if performance wise, and this would pertain to all gaming not just flight simming,to have the O/S on it's own HD. I figure that since I am starting from scratch that I could have a smaller HD just for XP or Vista and the large HD for games. Gamming is all that this system will be used for. This will be the new specs as of now:nvidia nForce 680i motherboarddual core D930 3.0 chip4gig ram400 gig sata hdGeForce 8800gtx video

Not being totally sold on FSX yet as to if I want to spend two or three thousand dollors on hardware that is not even out there yet, I decided to wait and see and do the following:First of all, I have a Pentium 3.2 on an Asus P4C800 Deluxe MB.My simple upgrade was as follows:I replaced a Radeon 9800 Pro 128-Bit, 128MB with a VGA Biostar 6800XT V6802XA52RT 256-Bit, 512MB Video Card. The card is available with the newer Interface, but I chose to go with the AGP connection as I am not going to upgrade the CPU and/or MB quite yet. When DX10 and Vista are available for all of us and you folks with it tell me how you are getting performance out of this world and that all the gl…

My question pertains to what the Graphics Aperture Size can be set to in the Bios setup. My understanding is that it should be set to the memory size of the video card. However, my MB setup only shows a maximum option for 256 MB, so it is impossible for me to set it to 512 MB as per my new card. I have updated the Bios to the latest version available. If anyone has any ideas on this I would appreciate hearing about it.Happy Flying:RTH

Always reluctant to jump on the new driver bandwaggon...Just wondering if anyone here is running the new catalyst drivers (version 6.11) Right now, Im running ATI Tray Tools with the 6.9's - did any of you have issues moving on to the 6.11's in terms of FPS, newer is not always better so that is why I am asking in advance. This is in relation to FSX btw. Thanks for any input.-danon-

I am trying to reinstall FSX. It stops when the InstallShield Wizard is publishing product information, and says setup was interrupted, exit and try to install later. I did run the event viewer and it showed FSX fialed, Source: Msilnstaller, Event ID 11708.....I tried searching for both these and couldnt find anything that helped. If anyone knows what I could try next, I have tried defraging, searching all my computer and registry for anything relating to FSX and removing from my computer . I run Ccleaner, Windows Installer Clean Up , Tried to install to a different folder, also tried copying the disk to desktop and tryed to install, same thing. Installed Microsoft update…

Hi Guys For those of us with machines that will just handle FS9 what hardware is needed to run FSX with eneugh grunt to spare for future complex airliner addons such as "747 queen of the skies"?. I have read that even the fastest machines now available are not really powerful eneugh for FSX. Does anyone know what spec MS designed FSX for?

Ok, so - I've sort of found myself with a faster computer than my Celeron 1.2.I've been loaned, for an indeterminate duration, a Dell Precision 380.From what I can tell, it has a sticker on it that says Pentium D, it's a dual 3.2, 4 gigs of ram (3.2 available) and a NVIDIA Quadro FX 540 card.I see that card is only 128MB.Maybe it's a stupid question, but as I've seen lots of concern about the idea that not even high-end systems can run FSX that well, relatively speaking. I suppose this is possibly "higher-end" if not high end.I'll say this: FS9 runs fine essentially maxed out. I don't know the most detailed airport/area, but flying through NY City with everything all the …

Hello,My good old P4P800 did not appreciated the last friday's thunderstorm over my aera, and she just died. As of an important job to finish, and having a good insurance, also generous, thanks to my wallet, I was abble to get my new rig:Asus P5B deluxe with 2 GIG od DDRAM PC5300 and a PIV 3.0 GHZ, with an NVIDIA 7600 GT 256 MO. Which I think is a fairly good trade off, while waiting another major upgrade sometime next year.My problem is that I am totaly new toi NVIDIA card, always had ATI, and I would need help for tweaks for FS9, as well as what driver to use, what NVIDIA prog, or force ware to use and so on.If one of you could direct me, that would be very appreciated.…

I noticed over at another forum someone posted this awesome yet to be released yoke. http://www.flyengravity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=281Sure, we all want a nice looking professional yoke, but when I saw the features, I drooled a days slobber all over my poor CH! http://smilies.vidahost.com/contrib/sally/tongue.gifLook at this:* heavy duty design * full functional * total column + Yoke * can be used seperately or dual linked.* motorized control load to feel the forces when flying. * Auto movement when flying on auto pilot.* stick shaker - mentioned in their forum. This is too cool, but I fear it'll be out of my price range. http://smilies.vidahost.com/otn/angry/icon...di…

Hey folks,I'm enjoying my Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar and the CH Products Pro Pedals, but I'm also having some minor issues with it. Hopefully somebody here can help me out!First, the hard- and software setup. The Pedals are NOT USB but serial, and they are connected to my HOTAS unit. The HOTAS is USB and is directly connected to the computer. The firmware version of the HOTAS is 3.06 and I'm using the latest version of the HOTAS Cougar configuration software. So, here are my two main issues.1. The rudder input of the pedals within FS(2004) is WAY too sensitive. Barely touching a pedal causes my aircraft to immediately slide to the left or right from the centerline. I have lo…

Hello All,I am running FS9 with an Nvidia 6200 GPU for my primary monitor and an Nvidia 5200FX on my second monitor. My problem is that the 'Select and Aircraft' screen is black. I cannot view the aircraft I have selected. Not a big problem, but is there a 'work around'? I have the latest Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website. I have set all of the Nvidia settings per the many tweaking threads I have read.Comp specs:AMD 2400+CPU.1 gig ram.GeForce 6200 and 5200FX graphics cards.120 gig main hard drive.80 secondary hard drive (for addon scenery).Windows XP Professional, fully updated. Not the best system, built it myself. Thanks,Dandog

I currently purchased a E6600 machine which i'm using for FSX and my graphic work. I have a AMD64 3500+ with a old X 800 GTO card which was overclocked and is running into some problems. I was wondering, if I updated to a EVGA 7900GS KO would my FPS improve in FS9 compared to my X 800 GTO? The reason why i'm interested in the EVGA card is because it's so cheap for a pretty good card. Plus my machine is still good enough for FS9 and the other problem is I have close to 10gb's of add-on's and aircraft for FS9 which I don't want to move to my E6600. Any help would be great.

Hi,As much as I would like to upgrade to the latest video cards, I cannot afford them at this time. Do I need a video card with at least 512 MB of RAM or will 256 MB be enough to run FSX with medium settings while at a resolution of 1280 x 1024 x 32? I heard from someone that you only need more than a 256 MB RAM video card if you use FSX at higher resolutions? thanks very much, joe

I know this is probably not the correct forum for this since it is hardware but I thought it would fit better here and get more visibility since AVSIM is carrying this yoke in their store.Let me say that I've been flying with this yoke since last spring and for my money, it is the best piece of hardware you could possibly purchase for either version of FS.As the advertisement says, you don't even need a driver to use this so it is FS9/FSX compatible. The look and feel is so very realistic and it works great. (no, I'm not an employee of the mfg). This yoke is heavy and precision-made. Yes, I know it is much more expensive than some of the other "plastic" yokes (which I …
