Are you afraid of Over clocking but would still like an Overclocked PC?Here is an option.I got this from a recent "Computer Shopper" Magazine. I configured the PC that I built recently on their website. I spent around $3000 buying the components and doing everything including the OC (3.45Ghz) myself. An almost idenitcaly configured PC Overclocked to 3.4Ghz costs $3,775.00This seems to be more competitive than Alianware and others.http://www.overdrivepc.comMannyPS: I have not dealt with this Vendor myself. But "Computer Shopper" Magazine lists Overdrive PC as the Best Gaming PC.

My main or first hard drive, 55 gigs, is completely full. I just installed a second hard drive, a Seagate 120 GB for more storage capacity. I have this new drive setup as a slave to the first one. My questions for you computer gurus out there is ...Can I move FS9 or FSX by copying and pasting into the new drive or does it require a new installation? With this slave setup, will any new files installed on the main drive overflow onto the second? Thanks!

When I try to span the FS9 windows the window gets across two monitors but on the seond monitor only a small part of the windows is filled with 3d fs9 view, the rest is black. I have two 1280 * 1024 monitors. Other windows i can get across the 2 monitors. How do I setup the correct resolution for FS(, as I cannot choose from 2560 * 1024, that is not available in FS9?

For reasons I would not reveal, my old reliable ASUS P4C800 Deluxe Mother Board just bit the dust.I am presently trying to decide just how big a bullet to bite. (i.e. Just replace the board, replace the board with a new processor, replace the board with a new Video Card, Replace the card and retainmy 400 memory, Replace everything etc. etc. Just trying to evaluate all options. What I am confused about are the specs. on boards with LGA775 Sockets. There seem to be all kinds of variations as to what CPU types are acceptable for these boards. I was under the impression that the socket delegated what was allowed and that there was a pretty narrow limitation. I get the impressio…

I'm having a problem with my DVD drives. It seems like a couple minutes after I put a DVD in, the drive refuses to open. As you can imagine, this has become a huge problem when trying to install the 2-DVD FSX. I've tried going to My Computer and clicking the eject button, but that doesn't work. I've tried using a pin to manually open it, but if I put in another disk, it won't read it and then won't open up on that one either. The only way to get them to open is to restart. I don't understand what is wrong with them. Thanks

Maybe this will be of use to people , maybe you already know. Couldn't hurt to bring this out specially for the early adopters of the cards.http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...0-games_27.html

Hi Gang! For some strange reason, I have some problems with my GoFlight throttle console and FSX - here they are:1. The throttles are always jumping on their own - even after being calibrated and re-calibrated.2. Whenever thrust reversers are engaged, the right reverser keeps opening and closing - opening and closing - on its own during the landing roll after I apply reverse.3. Flaps are also jumpy; in VC mode, you can actually see the flaps, the throttles, and the spoiler lever jumping a little bit all the time.I have the latest FSUIPC (the purchased version), as well as the GoFlight throttle console.Any ideas? Thanks!Sincerely,Dennis D. Hi all -I'm trying to get a new PC set up to run FS9, and optimistically, FSX.For now, I'm still working on FS9. The particular combination of going to windowed mode with AA set higher than 2 immediately sends the screen into fits, showing a greatly enlarged but very rapidly flashing view of only the top of the screen. In full screen all is fine, as it is with AA off or set to 2. FPS is good and it looks good.Any thoughts on this? Maybe I should instead ask if anybody knows of a particular older driver that works well with this card in a similar PC that I could try.Particulars of PC: AMD 4200 64 X2, 2GB, 250GB SATA HD, Nvidia 7300GT w/ driver 91.31.I always fly in fu…

I understand that multicore CPUs won't help FS9 performance alone. However, if you use programs like Active Sky 6 and Radar Contact in the background, will a multicore CPU help? Thanks,RH

I have the CH Products Virtual Pilot Pro yoke and rudder pedals. They work and am satisfied with them. However, Periodically the aircraft elevators suddenly deflect up (yoke moves backward toward pilot) and the aircraft goes skyward. I have tried two different sound/gameport cards but to no avail. I cannot find anything that indicates that the problem is coming from the yoke itself. Could be the yoke, or the gameport software from CH, or the software from Microsoft. May be time to start the expensive FSX "required" uogrades. Before dropping $100 for a new USB yoke ($500 if you like steel yokes) I wonder if anyone has an opinion, or experience, with the gameport to USB conv…

Hi,I have a S939 mobo and there are no S939 dual core Athlons available anymore x( Currently I have an Athlon 3500+ but would like to upgrade to a dual core processor. There are however still S939 Opteron processors available. Is that something to consider? What are the differences with an Athlon?EDIT:Never mind my question.A Opteron S939 can't be put in an Athlon S939 mobo. Darn.

Hi guys! Just thought I'd do a little introduction, and say hi to everyone. Sorry if this is the wrong board to do so. Mods please move it if it is :), thanks) I was first introduced to flying, and planes in general by my grandpa. He is a very avid flyer, and worked as an ATC controller at O'Hare International for over 30 years. He recently retired. I first rode in a commercial AA Foker, and have been facinated ever since. I was allowed to go in the cockpit, and turn the logo lights on and off when I was 10 which amazed me. I googled flight simulators as soon as I got home, and came up with Flight Simulator 2004 (Yea, I'm 15). I bought it, but being only 10, found it too…

I'm wondering about giving up on FSX and designing a system around an Intel CPU P4 524 3.06GHz for use exclusively with FS9. Can anyone give me an idea of what kind of benchmarks I could expect with this CPU, a 7600GS 512Mb GPU, and 2 Mb RAM? What about the holy grail: Level-D, AS6, 5 cloud layers, Ultimate Traffic at 80%, complicated scenery, and so on. Thanks for your advice.---Will

Saitek EVO wireless was nonsense out of the box, had to manually set most things including throttles, axis, and rudder.Unless used every few minutes, it forgets its wireless, and ceases to exist until battery removed and reinserted..an absolute pain!Have to constantly remember to hit brakes while in flight to remind Joystick of its existence!Any ideas of how to make it rememeebr it 'is'

Hey guys, my 21" CRT finally burned out after years of great service. I now desperately need a new monitor for FS9 and FSX. I was thinking this would be a good time to go LCD but I'm very concerned about the whole ghosting issue with LCDs. I currently have an XFX 7800GS AGP Extreme video card. What would you guys recommend for a good LCD and is the whole ghosting issue a major concern in FS9 and FSX? Thank you.

Ok I bought a Samsung 225BW LCD yesterday and it was fine pretty much ok with FS9 and FSX. Today I run FS9 and FSX and the menu appears only in the first half of my screen while the other half remains black. I tried reinstalling my video drivers (7800GS AGP Extreme). I tried deleting the CFG files. I tried switching the LCD from VGA to DVI. I tried different resolution settings and after all that I still get the same problem. I've included a screen shot of what I mean. Any ideas? This is so annoying. Thank you.

I have an old built up computer that has the following equipment:- Pentium 4 processor (2.4 ghz)- U8568 PRO motherboard- AGP slot (4x)- 512 megs RAM- GeForce 400 MX (32meg) Video CardI know this is an old system but it runs FS9 pretty good. I would like to start upgrading the system with a new video card that will allow me to see water reflections (old cad won't show water reflections). Next I will upgrade the RAM to 1 Gig.So, what is a good video card to upgrade to? Do I have to stay with an AGP card or can I use a PCI card in one of the vacant PCI slots?iFLYrc

Hi All,OK. I have upgraded to a HP Dual Core E6400 multimedia system, with ATI 1500 card on board.I was using a HP 2.4, and really had no probs with display on the Nvidia 5500. Needless to say I was 'realistic' in my settings, but still very flyable. Now I have brilliant frame rates, with sliders pretty far to the right in scenery density and complexity. Total animation of jetways, traffic around airports, including O'Hare. Yet, seems to be a problem in loading saved flight where Chicago section is reported as missing. Its not! However, I am now getting 'flashed at!'Whenever I click on any autopilot button in Airbus 321, say to change altitude/speed/course, the display…

I'm contemplating a new system build to replace my almost 4-year old 3 GHz P4 for (at least right now) primarily FS9 with some hope of successful ops under FSX as things develop further. I'd prefer to spend more up front to avoid needing to rebuild Rome again for another 3-4 years. The hassle of rebuilding is far more painful to me than spending an extra $K or so on cutting-edge components.Basic system config I have in mind is an Intel X6800 2.93Ghz Core 2 Duo Extreme overclocked to the mid 3 GHz range, with 2GB (possibly 4GB) of DDR2-1000 RAM, and a moderately overclocked eVGA 8800GTX vid card (768MB GDDR3 VRAM).Looking for some datapoints:1. Interested in how the hig…

Would upgrading to a 3.4 Ghz Pentium D from a 2.8 GHz CPU Pent D make a reasonably noticeable difference in performance improvement overall espically with high detail -, or would it be an overall drain of cash, (a mistake) ??I am also using a 7600GS Nvidia card with 256mb ram and 2gigs of DDR ram as well. Thanks
