Hi, I'm new here but I've been reading about the FPS problems in FSX and now that I have it, I'm experiencing them too.I would like to put a video card in my computer, but it's complicated by the fact that it's a Gateway "Profile 6", which means it's an "all-in-one" type system (Macintosh inspired) and the monitor (19 inch) is integrated. It DOES have expansion slots. I was wondering if anyone out there has the same system and can point me to a good video card that does the trick. My system:3GHz Intel Processor2MB RamIntegrated Intel video (not good!)Thanks in advance.Ed

Hi all,I want to upgrade my graphics card to one that will allow me to drive a 24" 1920*1200 display and that will give my P4 3.0 processor good support for FS9 and with occasional forays into FSX.I'm not prepared to spend huge amounts of money to get the current fastest processor and graphics card to run FSX because even those expensive products are not yet fast enough.I have invested in Ground Environment, Ultimate Terrain, FS Global and many airport scenery packages and I'm more than satisfied with FS9. However, it would be nice to have a system that will allow me to run FSX without me tearing my hair out at the poor frame rates the 9800Pro would provide.A new AGP grap…

I'm enjoying the experience I'm having with all the eye candy in FSX, which runs superbly on my Core2Duo 6600, 2GB RAM, NVIDIA 7500.I am having a bit of a problem with my new joystick controller, but on the elevator control only.I'm using a Logitech Force 3D PRO ... which I'm certain is a great one, but it is really sensitive on the elevator, and makes me float before touchdown some awful.Anybody else struggle with this? Thanks in advance mates!John

I am new to Avsim, but have been using MSFS for years. Have had probably 6 versions since the original DOS product. Have decided to stick with FS2004 after reading dismal reviews of FSX. I am running an older system and for lots of reasons am waiting for another year of so before building a new system. Here is what I have:Pentium P4 1.8 GhzAsus P4T-E Motherboard512 RamGeForce FX 550 video card with 256 MB ramI think that FS2004 performance on my system is decent, but I am sure it could be better. Question: What sort of performance improvement would I get if I upgraded to 1GB of Ram? ThanksJ

I went to the nzone (link posted here earlier) and changed afew settings. The things that helped the most was to let FSX to my AA and AF rendering...http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_fsx_techtips.htmlI also changed my texture res 5m, and mesh complex to 60%, and mesh res to 152m. I then changed texture radius to medium...I can now crank up autogen in non-huge city areas and fly! It's amazing! I also have Matt Fox's autogen patch going to helpHere's my flying in the Florida Keys....And then around Orlando to show that even in denser city areas the fixes really help....yeah yeah 10FPS isn't choice, but sure better than what I was running, around 6FPS!!Also, you can tur…

Hi everybody,Well this is my first post on this forum so here goes.I'm seriously interested in purchasing a 24" Dell LCD monitor and would appreciate some feedback especially from people who might own one already. Does the fact this it's widescreen have any bearing on how FS9 or FSX appears on screen. Thanks,Capn Afrika

(Sorry for this post)I read further on and found out you need two chip sets .Therefore it would be a very costly route even if it was a good CPU for gaming. Once again sorry for this post. Its a server processor but is it good for gaming or fs2004 is what I really want to know?Intel Dual-Core Xeon TM Processor 5080 3.73GHz 1066MHz 771pin 65nm 4MB L2 CacheProcessor Number: 5080 Thermal Solution: 1U Passive/ 2U+ Active Combo Processor Frequency: 3.73 GHz CPUID String: 0F64 Package Type: 771 pin Core Voltage: 1.25V-1.400V Bus Speed: 1066 MHz Thermal Guideline: 130W Core Stepping: C1 Thermal Spec: 78

Dear colleagues!I just installed a second graphic card (7900GS) to plug a third 20" TFT monitor. Before I had to monitors spanned to 3200x1200 in VC view with very good performance. I'd like to use the 3 monitor now to span to 4800x1200. I thought of getting a 3head2go, however it wouldn't support more than 1024 and it is not recommended to reduce my native resolution from 1200 to 1024.I heard that it should be possible somehow span three monitors on 2 graphic cards. Any advise or am I wrong in this one?Thank you very much!!Sam, LSZH

When FSX starts in full-screen mode on a setup with two monitors connected to the same graphics card, it blanks the second screen. This is presumably to allow child windows to be dragged to the second monitor (which works very well). My question is, can this second monitor blanking be controlled (enabled/disabled) to allow displaying other, non-FSX windows?I was unable to find any mention of this here or on various web searches...so maybe this is a behavious due to my particular hardware setup???Appreciate any help you might have...Regards,blaster

I picked this up in another thread...it deserves its own thread. From what I've read, you want to set Antialiasing in FSX so that FSX can optimize how AA works. If you set AA in the NVidia settings, AA will be applied to the whole scene using a brute force method without any "smarts" or hints from FSX as to where it is really needed.Unfortunately, in FSX, the AA modes are not complete. If you have a Geforce 8800 and want to use the bleeding edge 16xQ AA mode, you're out of luck. FSX let's you chose only the more basic AA modes. So here's what you do. Set the AA to whatever you want in FSX. Now go to your NVidia driver settings. Set the Antialiasing - Mode to Enhance t…

I keep reading things about VGA drivers, video drivers and graphics drivers. I have the latest driver for my Radeon, but what about the video driver/vga drivers? Are they the same thing as the graphics card driver or different and if so how do I find it on windows XP and get the latest driver? Can someone please tell me in a simple way.Kind RegardsGavin Moss

The in/out motion of my CH Products USB is very "sticky" That is, it sticks/stays in a partial out or partial in position and is far from smooth when pulling the yoke in and out. Quite irritating.I cleaned the rod/cylinder to which the yoke is mounted but no change. Used alcohol. I am guessing that I could loosen the two halves of the main body to reduce the friction on the rod. However, any suggestions before the screwdriver is applied?Regards,Dick Boley

When I first came back to simming a few years ago, Nvidia cards antialiased clouds. I gather that problem has been licked now, but are there certain types of AA to avoid (e.g., the ones ending in Q)? I have a 7600GS 512Mb, using Forceware 91.47.Thanks for any help.

I'm currently running an MSI 6600GT video card with 128MB DDR3 memory. I see that MSI has a 7600GS card with 256MB DDR2 memory. Does anyone know if I'll see a performance increase if I switch to the 7600GS card?I'm running FS2004 primarily with the PMDG 747-400 and no other add ons. Performance is OK but I'm about to add FSGenesis, Ultimate Terrain and I'm not sure how the 6600GT will cope. System is ASUS P4P800SE mobo, P4 3 GHz HT, 1MB DDR RAM. Would increasing the system memory to 2GB help at all?Mark

Hey all, Im looking at getting a new system pretty soon and im not the best with computer specs but im ok. Just wanted to get some opinions on this machine. http://sys.us.shuttle.com/BuildXPC.aspx?id=1193 Only i would upgrade to 2 gigs of ram and i would change the card eventually to a 512mb radeon. Would this system be good for FSX with no AI traffic or do i really need to spend like 2000 to see sweet frames? Just some opinions, thanks

Maybe this has been posted before but, if so, I haven't seen it.The MS SysInternals site has a new version of Filemon as of Nov 2006.[http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx]It is now a part of Process Monitor and has some new features.Look under 'What's new Nov 7th'.
