My WILCO 777 arrived today and as I was setting it up, the bell rang again and the MATROX Triplehead arrived. A few moments later the DELL 2007 FP arrived. So I set it all up and now I have triple monitors about 60" wide in total doing FS9 (1x24 LCD and 2x20.1" LCDs). It looks stunning and everything works out the box. I am very pleased. The biggest task was arranging the cables. What a horror trip. I have about 20 of 'em by now from my hardware so it was quite a struggle to make it neat and usable.Still, a great afternoon and now it looks amazingly good. I flew the PMDG 744 into KIAD and it was just like being in the left seat in real life. Breathtaking stuff. An…

Suddenly, they havs started behaving as if a little right rudder is being applied....I can compensate by applying a little left rudder, but it's frustrating applying rudder like that during take off. You can't trim it away either. Anyone know what to do?

I use a MS Sidewinder joystick with FS2004. It has suddenly stopped responding to the rudder input. I cannot steer and from spot view the rudder does not move when the joystick is twisted.I have recalibrated - no change.I checked in fsuipc and the numbers under the set buttons respond to the rudder control.I have removed fsuipc from the modules folder - still no change.I have altered the realism settings including and disbling auto rudder - no change.I can use the rudder with the keypad - no problem. If the rudder is fully deflected using the keys and then the rudder control on the joystick is altered in any direction the rudder just snaps back to centered. It must be a s…

Any guesses on when a system will become available (at typical retail high-end prices) that will be able to run FSX with most sliders hard-right and video card settings maxed for IQ, at a smooth and steady 25 frames or better, with PMDG-grade aircraft addons and the best mesh & scenery currently available, at 1600x? Run that baby on! Any thoughts on if n when this might be available? Will it not happen in the foreseeable future because FSX will not be ported to multi-core code before FS11 comes out?I'm inclined to forego a PC upgrade until this benchmark can be met, and so far I am disinclined to install FSX until I have something hotter than this rig from all I rea…

Can you recomment a driver location for this card?
-
I just came across this on a friend's PC and it occurred to me that many people might make this mistake: Without going into technical details, PCI latency is the time a device waits before returning focus to a device requesting it. Sound cards, USB ports and video cards all may all be connected through PCI latency settings. The lower the value, the faster focus passes between these devices. For flight simulator, you will want to give the video card a higher latency value, and 128 has been circulated for years now. Most systems ship with 32 as a default value. With 128, the video card has more time, more system resources, more CPU attention, and thus the simulator performs…

Despite the 11_02_06setup update, I cannot get my Goflight modules to work in FSX. I see the FSX tab in the config utility, and get the hardware / trusted sites, etc prompts when I start FSX, but they do not come on. Any ideas? I have a freeware (for the moment) version of the FSX-compatible FSUIPC, and the appropriate modules in the FSX MODULES folder. Any help is appreciated.Regards,http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

Good morning,The other day the video card I ordered (BFG 7950PCI-E w/512MB) arrived and I installed it, replacing an aging GeForce 6800 w/250MB. I took all the usually steps....deleted drivers, used driver cleaner, installed the new card, installed the latest Nvidia drivers (93.71). I booted up, did the usual things (FSAutoStart, stopped AntiVirus, fired up FS9) went to my startup location in a default plane (note: I have FPS locked at 25, so at this location the counter was showing 24.8). I then switched to more complex (requiring more hardware/software resources) saved flights (Pilatus at KPDX, Pilatus at KSEA, KDEN, etc) and found that the FPS that I had with my old…

Hi, I'm just about to have a new system built for me which will incude an Nvidia 8800 GTS video card, 2mb of Corsair TwinX XMS2 DDR2 800 (PC6400) memory. I originally specified a core 2 Duo E6700 CPU with a 10,000 rpm 150gb Western Digital HD for flight sim use and a 300gb 7200rpm HD for general use, however it has been sugested to me by the system builder that I will get better performance (at about the same price) if I went for an E6600 CPU with 2x150gb HDs in a sriped array for flight sim plus the 300gb for other use. Any advice greatly appreciated.Pete.

Like most simmers, I get a kick out of getting myself into situations I'd never dream of getting in when my real butt's on the line. But overall, I see the simulator as a training and practice aid to my occasional weekend joyrides, and so I constantly try to make my sim time as realistic as possible by following the same checklists and procedures I'd do in an actual site-seeing tour or $100 burger run.But one of the things I've found lacking in the sim world vs. real-world flying is the difficulty I've had with coordinating my rudder inputs to keep the ball on the slip indicator centered. In a real-world Cessna, the same forces that swing the little ball around, exert thei…

I appreciate there is never a good time to buy a new computer however there does seem to be a lull at present as regards hardware to run FSX. Does anyone know if the Intel Bearlake chipset with its support for DDR3 and PCIE2 wil make such a difference that its worth waiting for? I'd appreciate advice.RegardsStewartnr EGPF

Hello all,I have a Dell Dimension 8300, P4, 1 gig DDR SDRAM memory, 128mb DDR GeForce FX5200 video card, 120gb hard drive, running XP home edition.FS9 was out 2 years give or take before FSX. The first year of FS9 I had no problems with it or the computer. The second year the computer started freezing up whenever I used FS9. I just spent a considerable amount of money having the computer "fixed"?? to prevent these freeze-ups. My computer is absolutley empty except for the usual anti- virus/ spyware programs just so I could use it for FSX. Now it freezes up with FSX. I've yet to complete one flight.I was just wondering if anyone else was having a similar problem. My comput…

I am building a new system and installing a single 320gb sata hard drive. I do not know if I should set the BIOS to IDE and let the native Windows drivers install or use the AHIC Bios setting and install the sata drivers. Is one faster than the other? Are there any advantages to one other than the other. Really need help on this so I can continue the build.(I am not interested in using any Raid setups)Thanks Chuck

Hello everyone.I didn't think it would work smootly, but apparently it does: Take two Dell 24 inch displays (each one with 1920x1200 pixels native resolution) and a reasonably fast graphics card (Geforce 7800 GS). Set the display mode to horizontal spanning and pick a 3840x1200 pixels resolution (16BPP) in Flight simulator. And then fly Google Earth or MSN Virtual earth - yep, that's the project that I started 10 weeks ago. I demonstrated the prototype it at a meeting of PC enthusiasts. Except during the really long load times, everyone was thrilled.I have a screenshot of that online here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/cbuchner1/357591174/Click "All Sizes" and then "Origina…

yes, I know that the units today are far from FS friendly, and certainly not FSX friendly. But in some years maybe we all just need to plug in the monitor, keyboard and speakers into the wall. ;-)Interesting concept I must say....http://www.chippc.com/thin-clients/jack-pc/index.asphttp://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gifDell Dimension 4600 P4/2.8 at 3.0 Ghz1024 Mb DDR333 Dual channel memory (2x256,1x512)AGP 256 Mb ATI Radeon X850 Pro ViVo, flashed to a X850 XT PE. I have read that fs2004 and fx10 was written for single core processors . So my guess would be that the fastest single core processor would be the best for flightsimulator ..Is this true?

I've used CH rudder pedals USB for about 4-5 years and am pretty satisfied with them. They are excellent value and they rarely go out on me in FS2004 (they often went out on me in Fs2002 and on my older PC). The set-up is thus stable and this counts a great deal to me. It would be nice if they were less sensitive but I've learned to be as gentle as possible with them and they do actually work quite nicely. The toe brakes work great.A long while back I tried CIRRUS and they were amazing. But they cost about $600. Does anybody here use them and if so, do you think it's really worth paying all that extra money over CH ?Thanks!JS

I am not quite sure exactly what title to give this, but here is the situation and what I am seeing:First of all, I recently went from a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB to a NVIDIA AGP 6800XT, 256Bit, 512 MB Video card. I did not see the following with the 9800 so assume it is related to the new card. I removed all old driver references (Control Panel add/remove>drive cleaner> etc. as recommended multiple times on these forums. I also implemented Reg Seeker just for good measure). I then installed the latest NVIDIA drivers. I also installed a Zalman CNPS7700-CU RT CPU cooler, and Kingwin KWVC-3 GPU cooler. CPU temperature dropped about 25-30 degrees C. Don't know what the GPU…
