Just a question to you guys out there. I am in the process of reinstalling everything after a major reinstall problem following the purchase of a new pc system. I am still not convinced that i did anything wrong during the first reinstall. In the process of my many hours of searching for answers, i have read advice here on there that on board sound chips are not the best when running several add-ons so i thought i would ask if anybody has had problems related to this before i go ahead and waste my time?

Hi,I do have a problem playing flighjtsim on TV.My soundcard have two outputs for monitors.I have TV on one and Computer on one.My resolutiojn on TV is 1360x768.Every program, webpages, flash, everything works perfectly. When I launch FS2004 I see everything except for the airliner section (the one where the airplanee is displayed and rotating). It is flickering and you cant see anything at all there. The whole program seems to be flickering except when I change to Settngs where I do not have any motion pic.Second of all it is bot centered on the screen. Is there something I need to do within the flight sim?Thanx in advance.

Hey gang.. I need some help here....I have been running along on my Dell 2405 24" LCD for a while now and Love it. I have seen that some of you have been running multiple displays so I thought I'd go ahead and bite the bullet and order a pair of 20" 2007FP's to sit on either side of the 2405 to give a nice 3 panel wrap around display for flight sim.Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to do it. I have the 2405 on it's own card (a 7900GT) and then the 2 20's hooked to a second 7900GT (not in SLI mode!). When I go into the video card settings, I see the NView stuff, but it only lets me stretch the display across any 2 monitors hooked to a single card, not across mo…

Hi,I currently have Vista RC1 installed (get the retail version on Friday).I've seen something strange - in certain views (could be 2D, 3D, or external), I sometimes get a kind of buzzing noise. At first I thought a wire was brushing up against a fan, but I rerouted my cables and all is clear.I did a little checking on the net and saw some things about setting the power settings in Vista to performance versus a lower setting. This seemed to do the trick, but the noise has returned a few times today.Does anybody know about this? What is chattering? Is it the video card, memory sticks, CPU?I have an Antec 650 watt power supply, only 2 SATA drives, an ATI X1950 video card, a…

I had this FSX crash problem within minutes into my first flight in FSX:"The instruction at "0x7c809783" memory at "0x15db2fe4". The memory could not be "written". Click on ok to terminate the program."I couldn't even switch from the 2-D to virtual cockpit in the default ultralight or switch to any other aircraft without getting it.Among the things I have tried based on forum searches and successes of others include:(1) Updating to latest DirectX 9.0C(2) Testing Ram (memtest86)(3) All sliders to left (minimal quality setting)(4) Reduce sound card acceleration in DirectX(5) Reduce AGP acceleration in DirectX(6) Update drivers (only partially - see below)(7) Remove AMD Dual…

Hello, Anyone own an Intel Core 2 Extreme x6800 conroe? If so what do you think... I have never once in my life owned a top of the line processor and I am now thinking about owning one for once. Should I go dual core or quad? Thanks, JoshP.S. I have noticed the ole Athlon 64FX-62 go down in price quite a bit that is dual core isn't it? And it is still a pretty descent processor you think? LOL Ok you got me I am trying to plan ahead a bit for FSX

Currently I would say my machine isn't too bad.. ASUS A8V DELUXEAMD64 3500+1GB GIEL RAM LOW LATENCYX850 XT PE ATI 256MB.. on AGPStandard HDs.. SATA II.. no 10,000rpm jobs..At the moment it chomps FS9 without too much of a problem at all.. I get pretty good frame rates for it.. at 1600x1200.. which is the res I usually run it at... with pretty much everything maxed out... Even with the PMDG 747 running it's pretty smooth really.. only pausing a little between switching views.. but it's nothing to get frustrated about..Bascially.. since my system is AGP.. I'm a bit restricted in terms of video cards.. and FSX kills my PC totally.. it just starts smoking and falls off the de…

I have FSX running on Vista. My soundcard is a Creative X-fi. From what I have read, games that use OpenAL for sound will be hardware accelerated on Vista. But if a game uses the older DirectSound API (or EAX 3 or 4), hardware acceleration won't work. Creative has a project called Alchemy to translate calls to the older API into OpenAL so you can get hardware acceleration.I don't have Alchemy installed yet because I can't find if FSX uses OpenAL or the older API. I'm trying to do everything I can to improve framerates. If FSX is using the older API, then Alchemy might take some load off the CPU, and get me an extra frame or two.Anyone have details about the FSX soun…

While surfing the Internet I ran across this computer system made for FSX (I presume). Check out this link: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/inffsx.asp?v=d.The specs aren't very impressive but the case sure is pretty!! If you're really serious about flight simming, you need this case...Ciao,JimY

Hi guys, there are many myths and legends about computers around. One of those is whether a cooler pc or graphics card would run faster. I understand that a cleaner pc,without dust would run slightly faster and smoother with slightly less issues, from my experience. But would a cooler one do the same? Is it worth spending more to cool for speed?

I was on my way to get a lap top today now that Vista is available...but literally on the way there I thought to myself...none of those video cards run dx10 even though they run Vista. As I plan on flying FSX on DX10 when it comes out..my question is what do the current Vista non dx10 cabible laptop video cards do...Is vista currently running on dx9.(Even though is says dx10)..and if so what happens to these cards when the dx10 patch comes out....Most importantly how does this effect FSX when the switch is made....Just thought this was an issue we should cover...Clearly it seems the best solution is to wait...but there are going to be alot of people who dont realize this…

I read in a maximum PC magazine article that they built a "next gen gaming system" for around 1500 usd. They put in a E6300 with stock cooling at OCed it to 3.06GHz....stock is around 1.86 I think... Anyway, would that mean that it is now faster than the E6700/or 6800? I though the 6700 runs @ 2.66??how could they take the cheapest CPU and OC that much on stock????It said they went from about 1.0 to 1.8 on the FSB....that's what they did, didn't mess with voltages or anything.A guy at worked showed me the article and I was a litle skeptical as to whether or not this could be achieved....Why do people even buy a better CPU if you can just OC a lower priced one?

I came across this site the other evening. It is an extremely comprehensive missive with respect to the security aspects of Vista in general and the DRM in particular. By the way, the "cost analysis" isn't strictly about the financial cost, but the cost to the computer system as a whole and the ramifications upon the public. It is a completely different and much more serious approach compared with most of the other discussions about Vista which have come to light over the past few months. It is quite lengthy, requiring close to an hour to digest and includes a lot of techno babble, but an interesting read none the less; especially pay attention to the footnotes near the en…
