I would like to have my main veiw on the 24" then be able to drag things like the FMC or GPS etc onto the secondary panel...Or perhaps there is a better way to utilize two monitors? I would appreciate any suggestions.

I have Track IR4 Pro and am trying to use it with a MATROX TH2G set-up. I have two issues: first, my frames always take a hit using Track IR, down about 30% and sometimes 50%, which is depressing. Second, I can't really find a good configuration for this amazing device--it's just a bit too fast and aggressive or if it's slower, it feels as if I am on a mega dose of VALIUM.NaturalPoint asked me to try their new drivers a few weeks ago so I did and initially I thought the fps and fluidity were somewhat improved. Not any longer. I just tested with the Level-D 767 and frames fell from an average of 17 at KSEA without the device to an average of 9 with Track IR.I have fidd…

Hello, I finally got my new card (see below) up and running and I am pretty satisfied - 3dmark05: 9409 and pretty good fps in FSX. I do have one issues that I didn't have with my old 6800GT. I am getting a lot of shimmering textures particularly with ground textures in the near distance. I have tried a bunch of settings but I can seem to clear it up. Does anybody have some suggestions? I started out with the 7.1 cats and I have reverted back to the 6.12 cats but the issues is still there. With the 7.1's, I was also using ati tray tools and I couldn't fix it with that either.I went through the Catalyst Control Center tutorial linked in this forum but I can't resolve the is…

I don't have this occuring yet (touch wood :)), but as I'm backing up I wonder how to handle a HD failure in my RAID0 array. I assume that if this occurs the HD entire array ceases to function. Is it a matter of looking at BIOS and determining which of the 2 HD's have failed, replacing that one, then restoring my OS and other backed up files? I hope that my thoughts of this don't invoke a failure. Just wondering if anyone has the experience?Thanks- Bruce.

I need a little advice on what the best way to back up things would be.I have 1 hard drive on my FS system, it's a 250 gig Cav. I presently burn a CD about every 6 months with critical data on it. I also have a flash drive I put things on occasionally. That's no good, I know. I should be backing up weekly at least considering the FS design I do.I also have an old Iomega 100 meg ZIP drive.Should I buy a 2nd hard drive, like a 320 gig Seagate, and buy Acronis TrueImage?Or should I buy an external hd, hook it up every once in a while, and back up that way?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1…

I have a CH Yoke and wanted to add more buttons. I went and bought a gamepad thinking I would be able to use the buttons on the game pad for stuff. However, when I connected the gamepad and tried to define the additional buttons for other stuff (radio functions to be exact) FSX is telling me that the CH Yoke is already using that. So.... here is what it looks like is happening:Joy1 Button 1 is recognized as Joy2 Button 1. What can I do to make this not happen? I want to use 2 control for different things....How can I keep the CH Yoke defined as it is currently set and add a second controller with a different definition? Both devices are USB.Thanks!Mike

Any rec's for above when using a E6600 core duo 2. Also, what would be a good graphics card in unison with this motherboard. I want to upgrade in the future and that is why I'm asking for a board that will deliver possibly a couple years from now also....Regards,gremel

On my new PNY 8800GTX video card, I cannot save my overclocked settings by the following process:1. Click Start2. Click All Programs3. Click NVIDIA Corporation4. Click Control Panel5. Click Performance6. Click Adjust GPU Settings7. Click custom clock frequencies (and/or Direct fan control)8. Move sliders to any custom settings (even the lowest) and test9. Click apply10. Click exitAs long as the computer is running, I can retain these overclocked settings. If I restart the computer, the NVIDIA Control Panel defaults back to Factory shipped clock freqencies (no overclocking) and Automatic fan control negating my overclocked settings. Is there any way to overclock these cards …

Hi guys,Being new to building my own rig but now having most of the bits (thanks Jim, very pleased with your recommendations, some seriously funky bits there!)I could do with some help deciding whether to use a RAID configuration for the drives or not.I'm only considering RAID 0 or JBOD.So what are the real world pro's and con's to RAID configurations for an FSX only machine? Can RAID drives be defraged in the usual way (considering here the way FSX seems to be installed in a thousand pieces in XP)? What are the performance benefits if any? What are the restrictions? If anyone has any suggestions for optimal drive configurations for XP based FSX installation I would like to…

I've been having sound trouble with FSX. I noticed it testing a new aircraft, where the start-up sounds seem to crash the whole OS. I was using on-board sound, and installed a sound card that I had around the house. That stopped the system crash, but now I've got different sound troubles: with this one aircraft, the start-up sequence goes from silent to roaring loud, and throttling up on take-off actually gives quieter engine noises. My FS9 installation seems to be fine. Drivers are current for both on-board sound (now disabled) and sound card.Anyone recognize these symptoms? I hadn't noticed a problem until I tried this aircraft, but I tried the same aircraft on another s…

The sounds of most of my aircraft in FS9 and FSX are crackling, broken, and scratchy. This problem seems to have just slowly crept up. It seems to be timed with stuttering. I still have the original Creative SB Live Series sound card in my Dell 4550. I have the latest drivers installed. Anyone know if a new sound card might help frame rates and stutters as well as fix the sound issue? Thanks!

Hi guys, the noob is back needing help again!I'm almost ready to start building my new rig and have another question. The mobo is a P5N32-E SLI. I have two RAM sticks, both 1GB.I'm not sure which slots they go in.I have four slots, A1, A2, B1, B2.Clearly I will only use 2 of the avialable 4 slots for my 2 gigs of memory. The manual mentions dual channel configuration, and that in this case I must have A1+A2 = B1+B2I'm not sure if I should be using dual channel configuration or what difference it will make where the sticks go (other than if it is dual channel they need to add up the same). So, which slots do I use and which do I leave empty? My best guess would be I use A1 an…

Hi all; I have been using the CH Flightsim yoke since FS9 together with CH Pro pedals and did not encounter any problems until lately when I had FSX. As it is now, the yoke does not have all left side views when depressing the POV hat switch. I can only get the right front quadrant, right side quadrant and right rear quadrant views. Also, buttons 2 (knee pad), 6 (gear down) and 10 (reverse cycle view) are not functioning. On firing up FS9 or FSX to the default situation (inside aircraft cockpit view), the right side quadrant (the door) becomes the default view. I think I must have inadvertently corrupted the FSX's xml of the Control folder when I tried to fix the "gear up…

Hello,I have an Athlon FX60, 2GB Ram,2 SATA Raid 0 Hard drives , and 2 7800GT in SLI.I am getting the most horrific framerates when I try the suggested settings such as Autogen Dense, textures on high etc. etc. I have adjusted the Microsoft X profile in the Nvidia Control panel countless times, going through all the various SLI options - Force AFR 1, Force AFR2, Force Split Screen, and Force Single GPU.The onscreen display changes to show that yes, the control panel is making the changes. For example you see the change in the Onscreen SLI display when going from AFR to Split Screen. But there is literally no difference in framerates between SLI and Single GPU mode. Am I d…
