Hi guysA little off topic here, but please, if anyone can help.....I lookafter the network for a small Charity in the UK called Anxiety Care. They're a great bunch who do some super, much needed work.Recently, and rather bizzarely, two of their NEC PCs blew the motherboards! Possibly due to a local power surge in the area - but not sure really. These boards are both FLEX-ATX. One a socket A for an Athlon, the other a 478 for old P4 1.8Everything else in these PCs have tested fine, so it would be a real shame to ditch it all, and they can't afford new ones.If anyone either has, or knows of, where any of these can be found, i'd be extremely grateful for ANY info.None cu…

Hi Everyone,Well, I finally built my new system. First off let me start by saying that the reserator 2 is "JUNK", I don't think it could keep an ice cube cool in the middle of winter, during a blizzard. The Typhoon VX cooling fan keeps the system between 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the reserator 2. So if you were thinking of buying the reserator 2, save your money. If you really want to water cool your system, look elsewere. The reserator 2 was unable to keep my CPU (Core2Duo X6800) cool, keep in mind that this processor was "NOT" overclocked during the test. The XFX Geforce 8800 video board runs "HOT", "VERY HOT". The card runs so hot, I may not be able to run both of …

My hat goes off to the guys who coded this game. Very few games get as real as this game, in so far as creating a realistic look and feel. From what I have seen if you don't tweak your settings the right way performance can be pretty bad, but with most sliders maxed out and autogen to dense I get around 18-27fps. That may in fact be HALF of what I get in FS9, where everything is maxed, but the visual quality is probably THREE TIMES that of FS9, which I find incredible!FSX is just amazing when it comes to eye candy, especially for flying low. Even photo real scenery cannot compare to default FSX when is comes to buzzing tree tops, which is because photoreal hardly has a…

Here's a question that might be off track...IS FXS too advanced for it's own good? Why have settings that can't be set to max at any time soon. And what about when the 3rd party heavies come out. Granted we can always slid the sliders to the left, but most people don't want to "lose" out on features they see in the game. I think a lot of people would be happier to have less details, get great fps, and yet, "max" out the seetings. Why does MS release such heavy, CPU eyecandy when hardware is not yet up to the task of running all this eye candy? Why not release FS to run on the top notch hardware at the time of release? Then every year (between major releases) sell "upgrad…

For those who have it, does it work well for you? Can you use all the levers/functions OK? Can you use the TQ6 on aircraft with different engine configurations (e.g., dual jet, trijet, quad jet, default FS9, PMDG, Level-D, etc.) without reconfiguring and without difficulty?Any operating issues with this hardware ?I am thinking about getting one but wanted to check here as part of my "due diligence" on this product. I use quite a lot of GF hardware already and like them but want to be sure about the TQ6 in particular since it's a costly item.Appreciate any posts, thanks!JS

Interesting article:http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html...W50aHVzaWFzdA==Hard OCP is one of the few review sites that routinely uses FSX as a benchmark. You can skip right to that portion of the review here: http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html...W50aHVzaWFzdA==The main point is that FSX relies much more on the CPU than the Vcard. For you Do-it-Yourself system builders (like me), that might help in the decision making process. Get all the CPU you can afford . . . and surprisingly, $170 ought to do it. FSX is not multi-thread enabled, so their comparison between the single core

Well I finally built my new system and also purchased the Matrox TH2G to accompany my new 8800GTS card. Since it was a new system, I decided to try Vista Ultimate. After loading up the latest version of the software from the Matrox site (Matrox Powerdesk) that is supposed to include Vista support I noticed a couple of things...1. My IE will not run (except if I run it in "admin" mode).2. If I maximize IE is spans all 3 monitors (under XP it only maximized on the monitor it was maximized in).3. At bootup, the Vista logon screen is larger than the center montior and spans into the left and right one (under XP it only appeared on the center display).I am running the lat…

Every time I start up my computer, the last thing I get during bootup is a Windows error message: "RivaTuner 2.0 Final Release has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for this inconvience", with the old "Send Report" or "Dont Send" bit to MS.I have the 8800GTX about 15% overclocked, although I get this message either with factory defaults or overclocked settings.I simply close the window, my settings are retained both in RivaTuner and in the NVIDIA settings and I see nothing wrong anywhere. Everything seems to work and display fine with no effect on anything I can determine.Has anyone else seen this message and/or have any comment concerning its cause?T…

Just wanted to let you all know, I experience a significant FPS increase with these drivers. I went from the 97.46 to these. To test FPS, I loaded the VOR Navigation lesson, went to VC and .40 zoom. I just watched the FPS for about a minute. I was getting about 13-14 FPS with periodic drops to 9 and jumps to 19. Mostly 13-14 though. With the 100.64 drivers, I got about 18-20 FPS, with periodic drops to 14 and jumps to 24.I have a Geforce 7950 GT 512 meg card. To get these drivers, you have to pick Graphics driver -> Geforce 8800 series -> your OS. Even if you don't have an 8800 card, pick it. Otherwise, it will steer you to the 97.46 drivers. It looks like you c…

Hi everyone,I want to upgrade my pretty old system, and i'm currently looking for the best CPU deal I can get, on a budget ofcourse. After weeks of extensive internet-based research, I've come to a preliminary decision: the Intel Pentium D 805 processor, available for $120.My previous choice was the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor. But I think dual-core CPUs are way better. I know that the Athlon 64 family beats the Pentium D series in every single gaming test. But they really fall back in multitasking tests. And also i've seen that the Pentium D 805 CPU is really an OC monster, with frequencies going up to 4000+ MHz with water cooling! My selected board is the ASUS P5LD2 mob…

Ok I'm not interested in FSX, DirectX 10, or Windows Vista. I want to build a new PC optimised for FS9 on Windows XP. I fly addons like PMDG 747 and like lots of traffic.I've been thinking along the lines of:SLI motherboard;2X Nvidia 512MB 9750GT's (not in SLI mode);Between 2 to 4GB Ram (WinXP can't use more than 4GB);SATA2 for WinXP;SATA2 for FS9;Maybe a SATA2 for FS9 scenery?Maybe a SATA2 for WinXP swap?Minimum of 4 dispalys, idealy with 3D on 3 of them. - Processor -1) I understand that FS9 does not use (physical) dual core technology, but people talk of it as being "processor intensive". Do I really need to get a dual core processor to make the best of FS9 on WinXP? …

This system will be for XP Pro and FSX and I am desiring something which will allow me the fastest and most clear framerate without stutters and problems. Presently I have a P4 3.2 oc'd to 3.54 gig, ATI 9800 pro Overclocked, 2 gig of ram, (Kingston Hyper Xwith heat spreaders) an ASUS P4C800 E Delux MB. I am looking for one which will be dual core, accept dual video pci express cards, and need advice on all -- my present system runs FSX at 10-18 FPS with most sliders at 3/4 . . .and yes I want more performance. …

I am working on a clean install for simming, up to XP SP2 and along the way I grabbed the February issue of DirectX 9c. I then d/led the February (latest) Catalyst suite. On install, I was told I needed the Net 2.0 framework. I keep getting that message though aparently I installed Net 2.0 successfully and also ran the repair option just in case. Catalyst just isn't seeing Net 2.0. Help-- Is it just me or is there something I can do?Thanx in advance:-beerchugDonald

Is it possible to set up the Saitek X52 so that the second hat switch can move the pilots position in the virtual cockpit. Instead of having to press ctrl + shift + enter, and so forth, it would be nice if I could just press the hat switch. Any help would be appreciated.
