I have returned to FS since lost my medical clearance for my Private ticket. I reinstalled FS2004 and set everything up but my CH Products Flight Yoke has a throttle problem. When you push the throttle foward the power jumps to about 40%. When you pull back it sticks at about 40%. The only way I can get it back to minimum is to press the F1 key. I have the CH Control Manager and calibrating with it does not fix the problem.Any suggestions?

Hello,I'm using vista 32bits with 2 soundcards, one onboard (realtek ALC882 on ASUS P5W HD) and a XFi creative PCI card. Working great, the 2 soundcards are recognized and working flawlessly. My problem is that in vista I can't manage to make them work as in XP where I could direct the sound for the voices to the headphones, the engine sounds being output to my speakers. My heaphones are plugged in the onboard soundcard. In XP, there were tabs where I could choose different soundcards and settings for the voice, recording, and other sounds. I can't find it in vista.I miss that functionality, since it was really handfull in multiplayer when some players have a very low mic l…

OK - time for my annual brain dead question :)I have an Intel 915GAV mobo with on board sound. In playiong around with the acceleration in DXDIAGS I can hear no difference in FSX between no acceleration and full acceleration. I have excellent hearing so that's not the problem. Can someone explain what difference should be audible with these changes, if any? From what I understand, no accxeleration of onboard sound frees CPU cycles for FSX.Thoughts?Thanx,Vic Visit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/

I originally had the ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 MB and a pair ofCORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590It was running at 378.4Mhz (lower than the 400) speed at 5-6-6-18-24 (CPU-Z) at 2.1vAnd everything was fine. So now I added 2 more sticks of the same.. Identical sticks making it 4Gig. But Its giving me grief. machine screeches and freezes and what not.I know the sticks by themselves are good,,cause when I swaped the 2 gigs with the new 2gigs. they run fine by themselves. If I reduce the memory frequency considerably, it seems to be …

Need some help. Just received the CH FlightSim Yoke today. After installing, I downloaded the CH control manager to get the sensitivities right. Then, I lost the mixture control and the prop control. The throttle and other controls work fine. Can anyone familiar with the yoke help?

I have the latest AVG anti-virus software and an very happy with it. My setup includes a router for IP distribution, and a separate ADSL "modem" enroute to the internet. I use CC Cleaner regularly to eliminate cookies, etc.My question is what else should I be doing to prevent Spybots, Trojan Horses and the like that come from the internet? My AVG has an e-mail scan, but I'm not sure if that is preventative in avoiding some of the nasties that some folks seem to get.Should I be looking for additional internet security software, and if so, any suggestions? Thanks- Bruce.

Hey All,I have been a long-time lurker in the avsim forum for the past year and some, eagerly reading postings regarding to improving performance in flight sim and trying all sorts of FPS improvements from A to Z. Each tweak would improve performance on my computer but not by much. It was still flyable I would average frames in the high teens to low 20's with the FPS slider locked at 25fps depending on what aircraft I was flying. In the years past, I had been mainly flying Level D 767s all over the world, performance was acceptable on my computer until just a week ago...before I continue, here's the specs of my old setup.. AMD XP2800 Barton, 1GB Kingston DDR ram, a 256mb …

I had a problem before. The FS will close down itself without any warning. Later I found that if I exclude the FS in DEP it will run alright.Today when I try to use the FS9Path_Utility(from http://tweakfs.com) I got Access Violation. After I exclude it from DEP it runs fine again....So what the hack is DEP?Can I turn it off once and for all?---------------------------------------VincentDell 9150P-D 2.8G1G DDR2Nvidia 6800

After upgrading everything else in the house, I have a unit left over that contains a bad 478 socket motherboard, but with a good new Pentium 4 1.2 CPU.I am thinking of purchasing an inexpensive motherboard to get this thing going again too. In looking at motherboards, I see that many are listed as "Pentium Prescott" capable. On other sites, the "Prescott" reference may be missing. My question is, will my non Prescott, Pentium 4 CPU work in these socket 478 motherboards or are the boards unique only to Penitium 4 Prescott applications?A little input for my ignorance on this subject would be appreciated.ThanksRTH

Hey everyone. Just got FS X installed, and I love it. The only problems I have, are when I load FS, and go into a flight (saved, mission, free flight doesn't matter), I see the VC show up, all grey, and I can't look outside. It's translucent. If I change planes, switch to 2D, then change planes again, I get everything. However, if I look around, it then gives me the messed up VC views. Aftermarket aircraft don't do this, just the stock. Any ideas?I'll give ya the specs of my 'puter as reported by Belarc Advisor:1.73 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP128 kilobyte primary memory cache256 kilobyte secondary memory cache480 Megabytes Installed MemorySlot 'A0' has 512 MBc: (NTFS on drive…

I just bought a video card for a low profile case. I had to change the connectors to two slots and mount them in the brackets. All is well except I need to extend the VGA connector that connects to the card via ribbon cable. The ribbon cable is too short. I have googled and for some reason I can't find a distributor of the connector and ribbon cable assembly. I need about another inch on the ribbon cable length for it to be long enough.Any ideas where to look?Barry

Greetings everybody, This is my first official post on AVSIM, although I have read the excellent contributions of you all for years. I haven't seen anything on the forums that addressed these two questions, but if I missed a previous post that did, I apologize. My questions are these:1) Does anyone know what kind of hardware ACES ran/tested FSX on, and why can't we get our hands on it? Were they hooked up to some CRAYs or something? (I'm assuming that they were able to run the program reasonably well to attain publicity photos such as those on this site) http://www.avsim.com/pages/0106/FSX/fsx_thumbs.html2) I remember seeing that microsoft had 'certified' FSX on Dell …

I'm looking at getting a new graphics card for my system mostly for FSX but also for new games such as Crysis which is coming out in a few months. My current system is:MSI K8N SLIAMD Athlon 64 35002.5Gb Corsair RAMWindows Vista Ultimate EditionI was looking at the XFX GEFORCE 8800GTS 640MB XXX but was wondering would I need to upgrade the rest of my system to take full advantage of it? My alternatives are to upgrade now or to wait a few months till the price of the graphics card has come down a little and get another one so that I can use them in SLI configuration.Would FSX take advantage of this? I'm not sure how FSX works with SLI. I look forward to hearing from you. Many…

BFG has launched a slightly stripped down, but factory overclocked 8800GTS for $300. Some benchmarks indicated that the BFG 8800GTS OC is almost on the same level as a 'standard' 8800GTS.The biggest difference is a memory size of 320MB, compared to 640MB for the 'regular' 8800GTS. However, if you don't run any super-high resolution, the memory size is supposed to hardly affect the performance and quality of the frames. The article can be found here:http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/02/12/the_amd_squeeze/I'm only going by the review, so please don't consider this to be a gospel, but merely some information that I want to point out.Looks pretty interesting for FSX - at least …

Hi!I recently bought a new soundcard : a Hercules Muse 5.1 DVD.The problem is that as soons as I use the microphone, there is a disturbing background noise. I tried to change the settings via the mixer panel, but there's nothing to do.It's really annoying since I can't fly online, because other pilots and ATC don't manage to understand clearly what I say.Does anyone have an idea about how to solve this problem? Thanks very much for your help!

As many of you, I am planning on upgrading my 3 year old PC system within the next few months. I am really just waiting for FSX to get patched to DirectX10, and for some of the finer quality "Add-On" Developers (Level-D 767, PMDG 747, PIC 737, and Dreamfleet 727) to upgrade their realistic planes to FSX. When they do, I will upgrade. I will be starting with a completely new system, so I am starting to sniff around now to see what is available. I am also torn between building my own system to save money, or buying a system from a PC Builder. My current system was built by ABS Computers out of California, and I have been completely pleased with it over the last three y…

Anyone have this 3-screen hardware expander working with FSX? What did you have to do to get it to work? Please share your settings with us, as I know there are some questions about whether or not it will work with FSX due to the new camera view system used in FSX. Posting this in the hardware forum as well, but it may be of service to more users if left in this forum - IMHO. :)Thanks In Advance,http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

Recently, I had a crash on my old ASUS P4C800 Deluxe Motherboard/Intel 3.2 CPU combination and would like to believe that I was forced into the following upgrade (without a great deal of arm twisting I might add.) My wife was tired of me working on it, and said just buy a new one. Of course she meant a shelf unit that would set me free. I am sure I don't have to go through any explaination on my feeling relative to that if you are into homebuilts and the cost of putting together your own system with premium components compared to buying from XXXX (Assuming that they even offer top notch combinations).Upgraded Components were as follows:1. ASUS P5N-E-SLI NF650I SLI 775 Mot…
