For those that have ATI cards ATI has released the 7.3 drivers as of yesterday (3/28). While they don't appear to improve (or lower) performance in FS, they do seem to have fixed the problem with CTD's and reboots that the 7.1 and 7.2 drivers caused with the X1950 XT and XTX cards. at least in Win XP. They do claim it's fixed in Vista too though. While general frame rates hasn't increased, panning, especially around the VC seems smoother. In Crossfire mode Super aliasing (14X) seems to work in FS now, with only minimal (about 1 fps) loss in performance. That's in 1280x1024x32 mode (Limited by my projector). All in all this release seems rock solid!! One thing on installa…

I've recently decided it's time to get back into flight simming, so I bought a copy of FSX... and encountered a really annoying problem. About every other sound (ATC message, raising/lowering of flaps, etc.) comes out sounding nothing like what the sound should be. The closest things I can think of to describe it are the sound made when you blow into a landline phone or the sound of static on a TV or radio. I've tried reinstalling the sound drivers with no luck. Since the only sound card I have is the onboard one that came with the motherboard, there's no other one to switch to. Specs are listed below... does anyone have any idea how I could fix this?Motherboard: Asu…

For some strange reason I am unable to assign the mixtures to a lever on my CHTQ. This was not a problem before, since the mixture lever still works on the RealAir Spitfire. Now I am unable to assign it to any lever on any other aircraft. It shows up fine in the calibration and it shows to be operating correctly. But in the sim there is no response. Also tried FSUIPC and receive the same results. The throttles and the prop levers will work fine as they do in the FS9 assignment page, but not the mixture. And I have checked all the settings, sensitivities, double assignments, etc. I am baffeled. In trying to assign it through FSUIPC, the assigment page shows the lever respond…

Just purchased a Viewsonic 22" LCD. My video card is a GeForce 7600GS 512. Monitor is fine in analog mode but I'm having issues trying to use DVI output. If I connect DVI-DVI the system comes up at 1280x1024. I then set the resolution to native (1680x1050x60hz) and click apply - screen blanks - I get a message "digital - no signal" - a pause and then system comes back at 1280x1024. I exchanged for another monitor and had same issue. I've tried several different drivers including the latest certified from the Nvidia site. Tried clean boot - same issue. If I connect a DVI adaptor to a SUB D cable and connect to the card I get analog mode.Using the 96.89 drivers I have been ab…

i recently upgraded my PC to a full 3GB of PC3200 DDR RAM. the BIOS and Windows seem to be recognizing the memory alright. however, i'm not sure if any programs are utilizing the full 3GB. how can i be sure? for one, i've added the /3GB switch to the boot.ini. second, i've reduced the page file size to 2MB-512MB. but if i run a program like FSAutostart and utilize the memory defragmenter, it only sees 2GB of memory and fails to defrag and allocate memory blocks. am i missing something here? does FS9 not utilize any more than 2GB?

Wonder if I can get some guidance with this. My current multi computer/monitor set up, whilst OK for FS9, is not going to cut it if I upgrade to FSX. The cost of multiple copies of the prog plus upgrades to machines is going to be way out of my pocket.I thought this Matrox box could be an answer - at least I could run three monitors with it and my main machine is easily capable. However, I have had a look at a friends set up and have to say I'm a bit lost. I suppose the main question is would it be possible to use this system with 2D panels and if so, how.Any advice would be much appreciated.Bud

In case anyone needs some drivers... We have released some files, and instructions for getting TrackIR support in Windows Vista 64-bit. You can find the files, and install instructions at the following location..... http://forum.naturalpoint.com/showflat.php...age=0#Post23865 Be warned, these are pre-beta drivers, and may have issues or they may work perfectly fine. Just send me an email, if you have any issues with them.

I am getting ready to order a new monitor to replace my old Trinitron CRT. I am looking at a Dell 19" or 20" LCD that is not widescreen or maybe the Dell 24" widescreen. I use FS2004. Will FS2004 work well with a widescreen? Is there any disadvantage to getting a 20" instead of a 19" 4:3 screen?

When I first installed Vista as an upgrade to XP about 3 1/2 weeks ago, I was somewhat disappointed in how long it took to boot up, and how long it took for my opening screen to appear. I was upset about the constant hard disk thrashing and of course, I had to load many new drivers (the most difficult being X-Fi drivers for Creative Soundblaster). NOW....VISTA is phenomenal. It seems that from turning the computer on to full opening screen is 35 seconds. Everything moves faster, and FSX is faster. Yes, I defragged using O&O, but I've read articles and forums that say that Vista has to go through a process of learning how YOU use the computer, "Superfetching" processes…

I am getting a new computer as a birthday gift. This machine will be used primarily, if not exclusively, for running FSX.Can anyone advise me as to what to look for in a processor or graphics board or anything else except a monitor? Somewhere between 500 and 1000 dollars would be nice.Hoping to make the purchase today, which is March 26.Thanks a lot.

First off, I have reinstalled windows and never have I had the issue with my folders that I am having now. It absolutely MUST be a windows update that hapened recently and i need to know how to undo it as this is a VERy annoying problem. After reinstalling windows, I found that in the folder where I have all of my FS downloads, I cannot create a folder or move any files or delete anything. I am logged onto my computer as administrator, but have NO rights to this folder. I have tested functions in various other folders at random and have full rights, but for some bloody reason this folder is locked. The sad part is I CAN share the folder on the network so I can see it fro…

One of the things I kept from my old system when I upgraded last January was my sound board, a Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum edition. While I never had any problems with this board with my previous system, I noticed that the sound quality is bad with my new system (Core 2 Duo E6600, 2Gb of Ram, ATI X1950XTX, Windows XP SP2).I have installed the drivers from the CD that came with the board and updated it

Hello everyone. So I am having a serious problem. I have attached my system specs, and when running FS9 on this system, I can barely get above 20 fps. In most places it is between 10-15. I used to have a system that was half this powerful and I got twice as many frames. Anybody have any ideas what I can do?Intel Pentium 4 3.4 GHz processor.2.00 GB RAMATI Mobility Radeon 9800 256 MBThis is a Dell XPS.This should be more than enough.I've tried the Omega drivers, the Dell drivers, the patched Catalyst drivers... nothing seems to work. Every other game on this system runs fantastic, just not FS9. I have also tried every piece of high-FPS addon available, and it just makes the …

My System: Xeon-3060 Processor (Similar to E6600), 2GB Memory, GeForce 8800GTS, ATI Raedon XE300, 19" Widescreen monitor, 19" Monitor, 17" MonitorMy 19" Widescreen is new, so I'd like to use that as my main screen and have the 17" and 19" off to either side. I wanted to run the main and one side off of my 8800GTS, and the other off of the ATI card. Will this work?I'm running Windows Vista (Had I known it would be an issue I would have bought XP!) and FSX.I ran into issues earlier with 2 monitors off of my 8800, but I think that was due to an earlier driver.Do / can you run in full screen mode, or do you need to do this in windowed?TIA!

Just wondering if anyone has given the 7.3 catalyst beta's a try. If you are like me, you are using an older than 7.2 version anyway. Seems I am still waiting to get more performance from a newer driver release, to no avail. I am hesitant to try them, so I though I would ask around before jumping in. Thanks for any assistance.Danon O.
