I run two monitors and like to have my GPS and ATC on the second monitor. In FSX my second monitor runs in higher res than the first/primary so the GPS and ATC screens appear smaller making them very difficult to read. In windows (Vista-business released last month) both monitors are running comparable resolutions (one is widescreen the other square but vertically the same). Does anyone know if or how I can force the second monitor to a resolution of my choice? Maybe in the .cfg file, I see my primary monitor listed there with the proper resolution but no entry for the second monitor. Thanks in advance,Joel

Hello, I was wondering if converting my signal from my video card with a sdvi cable from anaglog to digital would make a noticable difference? Just curious or would it be a waste of 20.00 for the cable? Thanks, Josh

All,I recently received a good deal on 3 Samsung 203B monitors. I have not set them up yet, but the plan is to use them in a TH2G setup (one I buy that hardware). The basic specs on this LCD are: 20.1", 600:1 contrast ratio, 8ms response time, 1400x1050 native resoltion.Questions is... is anyone using this particular LCD, and are you seeing good results in FS?Thanks!

Wow, where to begin. I guess back in October of last year when FSX was released. Man how I wanted to rush out to Best Buy and pick up my copy the day it was released. I fought off the urge. After waiting three weeks I could no longer stand it. I hadn't read anything terribly bad about the product other than it was slow on some user machines and decided that my current rig would handle it just fine. After all, I'm a PC Technician by trade and an extreme MSFS guy by night. Been so for the last 20 years.Well, after installing FSX on my system I was made painfully aware that if I wanted to run this sim at acceptable frame rates I would have to ante up and build a new system. S…

  6. This morning I finally re-sized a 2D panel for a B737-200 model and have been using it on my Triplehead set-up in FS9. It does work but after re-sizing the panel and pulling the sky down to cover the blank black spaces on the flanking right and left LCD panels, feels a tad bizarre. Has anybody else done this? If so, are there any tricks or tweaks I can use to make using the 2D panel feel more normal? It sure feels atrocious using the 2D on the three screens and I am looking for a way to still be able to use some stunning 2D panels with great a/c, sounds, and visual models with the Triplehead set-up.Appreciate any posts, thanks!JS

I just finished building my first box, with 74GB 10,000 RPM Raptor & 160GB 7,200 RPM SATA HD's. I know to put FSX on the Raptor, and assume Windows XP should go on the 7200 RPM disk. I was in the process of installing XP, and a couple things made me stop for the moment ... 1. It asked me if I wanted to partition the 160GB disk and install XP on the partition. 2. XP indicated, even after I selected the 160GB HD, that it didn't see some Windows components on the Raptor. I stopped there -- just wanting to make sure I have a good grasp on whether Windows needs to lay something down on the Raptor in order to make XP run on the 160GB disk, and if so, what I need to kno…

Hi everyoneYesterday I installed in my stone-age computer (1.6GHz Pentium IV, 512MB RAM at this moment, struggling to make it recognize the other 512) a brand new eVGA GeForce 5500. I tried with the drivers that came with the card (84.xx, I don't remember very well), but it stuttered a lot.So, I downloaded and installed the 91.47 drivers, and also reduced the latency from 248 to 064 (using Latency Cfg). The stutters look to have gone away, but in full screen I get only the left half of my screen. If I press Alt for bringing on the menu, the situation reverts to normal, I mean, I can see the full image, not just half of it.I'm using FS2004, running at 1024x768. This issue …

I had a discussion the other day with some engineers about monitors and full screen versus windowed mode in games, and it emerged that even the brightest minds seem to disagree here. Maybe the FS community can shed some light. It has always been my contention that full-screen mode is useful for CRT monitors to align the vertical refresh frequencies and thus give the video card direct access. On a TFT-LCD monitor, full-screen mode is thus pointless, and should deliver no difference in performance (if anything, a deterioration). It emerged in the discussion yesterday that certain games seem to benefit from full-screen mode even on TFT-LCD monitors, which seems highly questi…

Hello,I was wondering if anyone has any experience using the Intellivibe Tactitle Feedback System (TFS2) from www.ivibe.com in either FS9 or FSX?I am currently building a home cockpit using three 21" CRT monitors for the forward outside view; an LCD monitor, several GoFlight modules, and switches wired to a keyboard encoder for the panel; and CH Products Yoke and Rudder Pedals for the controls. The cockpit will be fully enclosed to eliminate any outside visual references.I am trying to decide the best way to add some tactile feedback to my system. The TFS2 system looks like it might be a more intelligent way of adding this feedback that could offer some motion cues rath…

However, believing that newer should be better, I consider getting FSX.I know there are a lot of topics on FSX and PC performances, but I want to know if possible to get satisfactory playing on a machine similar to mine:Pentium 4 3Ghz1GB RAM DDR400Galaxy GForce 7600 GS 256MbIs it possible to play on this system with at least medium resolution? I just don't want to spend all the money and getting worse graphic than with FS2004.Thanks in advance.

For me Flight Simulation and Force Feedback have ever been almost synonimous. This because I've bought my first (and the only one at the moment) joystick, a Microsoft Sidewinder FFB (the 1st model), just to use it with FS2000-FS2002-FS2004... and I ever had appreciated his perfomances. But with the coming out of XP the things have drastically changed... in worst. No words here about a well known manufacturer that stops supporting HIS hardware for use with HIS O.S.... I could use a censored language! :)So I've finally decided to buy a new controller.I've took a look at the sites of gaming peripherals manufacturers, but it seems to me that FFB joystick is not a "fashion" tech…

I got a Samsung 22 inch LCD monitor for X-mas and it is the cats meow for sure. Gaming is almost a new experience on this. One thing that is puzzling me is that at the native res of the screen which makes everything look right, the add-on cockpits are slightly stretched. VC's are fine but I like the 2D panels on most of my add-on aircraft. What resolution do i need to run at in order to take advantage of all this real estate but not get the stretching problem? Thanks for any tips!Hornit

Hi. My system is as in my 'signature'; I run FS9 on XP/SP2. Performance is generally good, but I am beginning to regret only having chosen 1GB of RAM (2x512) for my system. As is so often the case, FS9 gradually drains the system resources (with huge collusion from Windows XP of course!) and by the end of a long flight frame rates and performance in general are nowhere near as good as when I started up FS9.I am debating whether to replace my 2 x 512 modules with 2 x 1024 MBs, so I have a totla of 2GBs. Would it be worth the expense though? I have been looking at my Task Manager performance information, but can someone tell me if I am interpreting it correctly? Although th…
