I was interested in using this service but don't think it's available yet for FSX. I looked at their web site and saw no mention of it. I'm running both FS9 and FSX and can't believe the difference in frame rates. That's with a AMD 4800+ 2X, a new 8800 GTX video card, and 2GB of RAM. I get an easy triple the frame rates in FS9 over FSX.Considering the head spinning amount of tweaking that everyone is doing to get it to run half way decent I would think FS-GS would be all over this by now. Has anyone heard if they will be offering their services on the latest version?Thank You,Hans Groenewold

I'm starting this thread to encourage some recommendations for what specs to look for when buying a new PC for FSX.I figure its going to be at least March before there "may be" a PC that could run FSX with Vista in a turn key config that is fast enough to run FSX with some of the new graphic features enabled.Generally I don't mind running at 1024x768 in a dual monitor mode, but if higher resolutions don't have frame rate hit, then why not.Based on older threads for previous versions of FS, the concensus was to spend money on a fast CPU, fast HD, and RAM, with the video card's speed being not as important since the sim relied mostly on the CPU to figure out the display. I'm a bit annoyed with FSX to be honest - I've gone from FS9 where I could max everything and still run at 30fps, to FSX where I can run at 25fps if i have nearly everything turned off. Whilst of course graphics should get better as new games come out what always enfuriates me is that theres never any way to set the graphics to the previous game's levels. It's not like its a different engine, so why can't It display FS9 graphics with FS9 fps?Does anyone know if dual processors are going to be supported in FSX ever, or are they just too lazy? I bet they'll make me by vista for the pleasure of it. Microsoft make me sick. What are they a company trying to make a profit?!

Hi. I just ran HDTach on my brand new Samsung 500GB 7200RPM harddrive and compared it to my older 74GB WD Raptor 10,000 RPM harddrive. The results are included in this post.As you can see, the Raptor only reaches about 70MB/s and quickly drops to just over 50MB/s. The first 250GB's of the Samsung drive are read at over 70MB/s. It doesn't drop below 50MB/s until at the 450GB mark. The Samsung drive also takes the crown for burst read speeds. I guess these advantages are due to the higher data density and more modern interface on the newer drive...For random access, the Raptor is still superior by far.How does this translate into real-world performance? G'day all,I've just assembled a new computer with a Gigabyte motherboard and an Intel E6600 core 2 Duo processor. Both components come as boxed retail components and each includes a small approximately square metallic decal obviously meant to be prominently displayed on the front of the computer case. Hi all,My problem is my Logitech force feedback joystick ?!.When im not holding the joystick and use the autopilot it starts to move around and it also makes the plane move.I haven't got a clue. Is it supposed to move around or am i doing something wrong?/ Thomas

Several weeks ago, I spec'd a system here with your help. The build went smoothly (I went slow) and I'm pleased with the result. The one thing that annoys me is the power supply. I bought an Antec NeoHE 550W because it's supposed to be quiet and use less power. It does, but the PSU fan keeps cycling up and down when I'm running normal applications (IE, Word). I believe -- correct me if I'm wrong -- that this is because the system is drawing very little power. (I have a Core2Duo E6600, not overclocked, and a Gigabyte Nvidia 7600GS with no fan and no separate PSU connection.) So, the PSU thinks it can turn its fan off or down. Hi,Im thinking of upgrading my Dell P4 3 ghz (1GB 533 RAM) system to a customized e6400 c2d, 1 GB of 677 RAM, and keep my NVIDIA GS (256mb).My understanding is that the 800 FSB on the P4 will be blown away by the 1066 FSB of the C2D.I am curious what the thoughts on the performance difference I would see in 2004 between the P4 and the C2D.I do see an advantage between the e6400 and e6600 because of the extra 2mb of cache, but, will there be a big difference between e6400 and e6600?

I am currently running an AMD 3200+ Winchester processor on my Asus A8N-SLI motherboard. It is a 939 board. For domestic political reasons, a new mother board is not in the cards, but I might be able to upgrade my processor.Any suggestions? I see there are Manchester, Venus, Toledo, Denmark and other processor types available, and I am not familiar with any of them.I am running FSX. A couple of months after I doubled the RAM to 2GB and changed the video card to an eVGA 7900 GTO (512 RAM), I can state unequivocally that my DELL XPS Gen 4 runs FS9 better than ever before and better than I had hoped for.I can now run the PMDG 747-400 in Virtual Cockpit mode all the time on two horizontally spanned large LCD monitors (I am upgrading to MATROX Triplehead next week with a third LCD screen), with most settings pushed right, heavy t-storms with massive CB clouds everywhere, an average of 33% UT AI traffic, and various add-ons such as Flight Environment and Ground Environment. HiFrame rate with FS9 averaged around 25; with FSX I get around 6 in New York and around 10 elsewhere and that is with settings on mid to low. Needless to say very disappointed.
