I'm a little confused as to how the 7xxx/8xxx and 9xxx cards rate as far as FSX/FS9 performance is concerned. I'm looking at a 7900GT, but understand that maybe a 8800GTS/X is a beter card- which with a lower number somewhat surprizes me.Thanks for any info,Bruce.

OK, so please forgive for beating a dead horse with this question, but as I have read hundreds of posts about people's various systems and performance, I see conflicting opinions about whether a system like mine will do a good job (mid-high or high level) with FSX.I know this is not a science, but will my system hold up?Win XP Media CenterAMD X2 3800+ (running at 2GHz) HyperTransport (2GHz percieved bus)2GB DDR2 PC-4200 533MHz RAM7200 SATA HD (with plenty of room)eVGA Geforce 7600GT 256MB DDR3 VRAM PCIeAgain, sorry to ask, but I will not be able to upgrade this machine anymore for quite sometime and do not want to waste $70.Also, have read that Vista may improve performan…

I have mentioned my current problem with my AMD X800Pro on this forum. Only in FS2004/FSX it freezes the comp from time to time when it is under stress with texture loading or something (sometimes no cause can be seen). I have not been able to figure the reason out. Tried numerous things.Question: I almost always run FS with the card over-clocked. Do you think the card may have had its life shortened by this and there is now a malfunction which freezes the operation?Shez

I built myself a new PC in anticipation of FSX. p5WDH Deluxe mobo from Asus, p4 - dual core 3.4 cpu, 2 X 400Gb hdds, 730 watt psu, Creative X-fi sound, 1Gb ocz DDR2 RAM, DVD-rw, DVD-CDRW combi.Worked fine for the first two weeks, then after I installed FSX when it came out I started getting shutdowns, I'd have to turn off the mains to start it up again. Took FSX off but no joy. Then finally it died, completely. I was still getting power so finally figured most likely the mobo had died. Ordered direct replacement mobo, (couldn't wait for RMA turnaround and didn't have box anymore anyway) had also bought new psu in case.Put the new mobo in saturday, fired up, few minor t…

Hi Guy's.I'm sticking with XP Pro, and FS9.1 for a while yet, and unfortunately my graphics card looks like it might be dead, so I'm thinking about what I have read here about the X1950 Pro,I run this PC with 2 Gigs of Corsair Extreme RAM, with an Intel P4 3.40 CPU, both the graphics and CPU are water cooled by the way.But searching for an AGP version available in the UK for the price ranges mentioned seems to be proving more difficult than I anticipated.I do like the idea of going over to 512 from 256 on the card, but just can't seem to find one for the supposed price range. If anyone can offer any help on this then I would be most grateful.I did like my X80TX PE, but if …

Hallo everyone,Since I got my Logitech joystick with throtle-control I experience the problem that the planes keep moving while parking-brakes set and throtle idle. The movement is very, very slow but anoying enough.I noticed that it makes a difference which plane was chosen.Planes with very powerfull engines give the most trouble like Dash-7,8 and jet aircrafts.Maybe somebody recognizes the problem and knows a solution?GreetingsFrans van Etten

I just bought a new system but I have to wait for the memory, another week or so. I have access to 2GBytes slower memory which will allow me to build and test the system. I wonder if I install FSX and register it wheather I have to rgister it again when I change the memory. Anybody have an idea about this, is it more advisable to wait until I receive the memory ?

I decided to try the FSX demo, and frames are a charm with a little adjusting. My only problem is the RAM and/or my video card. The textures take an eternity to load, and before they do it looks like roads are going all over the place. My current RAM is 512MB (No wonder! I haven't paid attention to my PC in the last couple years.:-) ) Video Card is Nvidia FX 5500 128MB (I don't know if this is crap or not, but it sounds like it is.)I need serious bang for the buck here. Can anybody tell me what RAM I can upgrade to for UNDER $200? I don't know about the video card, but if it needs upgrading, what is a suitable one for also under $200? I don't want to have to upgrade the vi…

I have a reasonable computer system which has served me very well for fs9, averaging 38FPS with everything maxed out and running PMDG aircraft. Today, I installed FSX for the first time and it was ridciulously slow, stuttering and unflyable because of the poor frame rates. What I would like to know is am i mising something here? Surely its not this bad. If someone could have a look at my specs and tell me if I should expect decent frame rates with what i have got I would appreciate it.Please see jpg images for specs.Paul

I'm trying to decide which way to go and I was wondering if anyone has wrestled with this decision and can give me some input on what were the deciding factors and how you feel about your decision. If I went with TripleHead2Go I'd probably go with 3-19 inch 4x3 monitors running at their native resolution of 1280x1024 which is the max that the TripleHead device can handle. Alternatively, I'm also considering 3-19 inch widescreen monitors if I can locate some acceptable ones with narrow bezels that also run at a native resolution of 1280x1024 (so far I haven't).I've been using an Apple 20 inch 1680x1050 widescreen for 4 years now and I have some concern about whether I can …

In an effort to bump up my frame rates in my 2003 system I replaced the GeForce FX5900 128 MB AGP with a GeForce 6800 GT OC 256 MB. MemStatus showed my old 128 MB card's video memory peak at 99%.I use an accurate benchmark and found that the default Cessna 172 got 30 fps with both cards. To my surprise, the Aeroworx King Air lost 4 fps with the new card. The 6800's 3dmark05 shows the card to be 5 times faster than the FX5900.I know FS is CPU bound but I wasn't expecting zero improvement. My primary questions are:1) Does this make any sense at all? Would this result be expected?2) Where is the bottleneck in my system?3) What can I do to take advantage of this new car…

Hi guys.Having problems in FSX with my dual monitor setup.I'm running a GeForce 7800GT with two DVI monitors 17" and recent geforce drivers (not sure if there are more recent ones out yet)When I drag a panel over to the right hand monitor, for instnace the GPS or COM stack, the images flicker a lot and the colour is very patchy - making it very hard to see.I can use both monitors in normal use with no problems. Both are running at the same resolution, colour depth and frequency.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,Owen.

I finally did a total upgrade of my computer and purchased a new dual core with a standard video card. I've read all over about DirectX 10 and to wait for a decent video card that's compatible with DX10.Is this the case, or do they exist now? Anyone have any recommendations for a decent card for under $300?I have the dual core 2.1 Ghz with 4 Gigs of Ram, so hopefully the video card should be the last upgrade for a decent experience. I understand that you can't max out everything in FSX anyway.

Hello Everyone...I need some advice. I hope someone can help.I have a mainboard that operates in dual channel memory mode.... so at the moment I have 2x512DDR400 sticks running in dual channel mode... I have 2 more free slots.I was given a new stick of 1gb DDR400... just 1. So my question is.... should I install this 1gb in 1 of my free slots... in doing so lose my dual channel config......OR install 2x512 DDR333 that I have in another PC... thus keeping dual channel config...but losing ddr400 to ddr333 for 1 of the dual channels???How important a speed increase is dual channel? Thank you...Paul

First Problem is as follows:1. Beechcraft Baron with 2d panel displayed.2. Click on radio stack or GPS shortcut Icon.3. Unlock the window.4. Move to secondary monitor5. Click radio stack or GPS shortcut Icon to close window.6. Click radio stack or GPS shortcut Icon to reopen window again.7. When I move the remaini…
