Hello, kind of new here on forum and have read alot off the posts. My computer is a HP Pavilian a465c computer 3.00 gHz with 512 mb ram. I run MSX with acceptable fram rates with medium sliders (except autogen) in big cites and get 6-12 fps on ground and 20-30 in air. ok. Lots of freezes and puases while things load though. Jerky motions some times. My graphics is on board intell integrated graphics with only about 64 mb shared memory. Scenery is blurry ground not much texture on ground and can see cars but no roads, railways etc. Aircraft are sometimes blurry, I have my global scenery slider al the way right. Sometimes ac is sharp and not bluury. Sometimes for about 2 …

I have recently upgraded my computer and am running FS9 on Intel Core Duo 6600 with 2GB 800mhz Corsair Ram + 7800GTX Asus card. Now whenever I fly PMDG's 747 400 PAX or Cargo after about 20 mins or whenever I am on a final approach to an airport I get an out of memory error and then the flight is over. I have searched the forums and have changed my page file so that it is 'system set' and I have 10100MB on 3 drives in use. Now If I start Task Manager and watch on the performance page and load the aircraft the page file goes from 345mb to 1.3GB and holds there.... the available ram drops to about 300000mhz so 0.3GB left. In cruise it pretty much stays around this point its…

support, we would've seen a patch by now. The reason, I just played with the DX9 sdk today. In it, there is an utility that can record all the D3D calls to a file and be played back in a later time. This means that the D3D calls can be sent to a different native thread and have them rendered by it (or processor/core if you will). All ACES has to do is ask MS (yes, ask MS) for the source code and mod it for multithreading, and immediately brings multi-processor platform support for FSX. Eventhough this might not utilize multi-core platforms at their fullest potential. It will bring much much better performance than what we are seeing today.

Gentlemen ,Do you believe that using the Hyper-Threading Tecnology , doing the FSX to work in only one processor, would we improve its performance ?FSX.exe should be in the same CPU where the System is installed ? or in the other CPU ?Thanks and regardsAlberto Kunzel

I originally posted this in the hardware forum but I think it sufficiently significant that it should be seen in the FSX forum:"You can see my post re upgrade opinions in the hardware forum where Jaap questioned my AGP aperture. When I eventually found it (in the advanced BIOS) it was set at 32MB - did a bit of reading on the forums and changed to 256MB and my blurries have gone! Obviously very worthwhile looking at. I will try and tweak some of my other settings now and see whether I can improve the fpsNigelVancouverMy System:AMD Athlon 64 3500+Gigabyte GA K8NS ULTRA-939 mobo ATI Radeon X800XL video card AGP 256MB (Omega drivers)2GB Kingston PC3200DDR RAMMaxtor 80GB 7200…

On the weekend I went and got myself a new Geforce 7600gs AGP 256MB graphics card, which has greatly improved my FSX experience.I get much better performance, especially flying in/with clouds, and I now get all of the other effects such as reflective water, reflective propeller nose cones, reflective glass on cockpit windows, moving jetways now work, backlit gauges at night, wing flex on the glider and 747, taxi signs and some bridges are no longer white. As before, I still fly with frames locked at 21, and autogen off. Previously with fair weather clouds above, frames would drop to around 18, and flying through them even lower. Now the frame rate stays at 21 with fair wea…

[apologies if this was here already - I posted but cannot locate the original post...]Is it possible to build /buy a system (refurbished included) for $450 (or less) that will run FS9 really well?By really well, I mean lots of stuff turned on and a 20+ framerate.. the higher the better, obviously. Icing on the cake would be if it ran well in high-scenery-density areas such as medium-size custom airports. This is just the box - no monitor or anything.I've been reading around but have SO MUCH INFORMATION I'm overloaded and it's a little hard to keep track... given the fact that in the last 6 months, since dual processor systems have become much more commonplace, I'm hoping r…

I have the opportunity to purchase a "GIGABYTE GeForce 6800GT 256MB Graphics Card *AGP 8x" at a good price to replace my Nvidia FX5200.Any comments as to performance with FS9 Positive/Negative.Many thanjks Richard

Forgive me if this doesn't fall under hardware and is software related. In FSX I left the AA box unchecked. I forgot to set the AA on the card driver so for the last months I've been running quite happily at FPS 20 with liitle or no stutters (had to use all tweeks under the sun to get to this stage though!) A couple of days ago I set the AA on the driver and now FSX stutters horribly I've had to disable AA again. Would updating the driver solve this problem? I have the stock driver that came with the card (Nvidea 6200ENTC)back in January, or could there be another issue?

I guess with FSX just coming out we all have our concerns over what we can do about our frame rates. I just built a system with the 8800 card and the newest quad core. You can take a peek a boo if you are interested in the proformace in FSX...Mike http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=30478

HiI have just been reading up on PCI Latency, and from what I can gather it may be possible for people running FSX with AGP video cards to get a more stable result By reduceing their pci latency timeings,as I use PCI'E I can not check it out.Would someone with knowlage of this please conferm this or say it is incorrect before someone trys it.All the bestRex

Hi, I've just purchased a Fujitsu/Siemans Scaleo P computer described as having following specs: Athlon 64x2 dual 3800+ 1.81GHz 2.00GB of RAM VGA ATI X1300 64/512M PCle TV-OUT Graphic Card. Is there anyone who is using this PC, or one with similar specs satisfactory with FSX? I would be using the new version of PMDG's 737 NG when available. Thanks :-hmmm

Hi,I saw conflicting posts on the real added value to upgrade ram with FSX. I am myself in the process of upgrading from 2GB to 4GB.Have you seen real benefit in term of fps or stutters with FSX, or real gain remains quite marginal as FSX is more CPU than ram oriented ?Would appreciate your comments. Thanks,Patrick Geneva Switzerland

Hello everyone.Well with the brand new arrival of FS X it seems as if we are all due for a new computer... Especially with the announced arrival of Vista and DX 10... I find it quite unnerving that with my P4 3.2 GHz, 1.5 GB of RAM and an ATI graphic card my laptop is too slow for FS X lolSo what do you all recommend? Dual Core? 4Gigs of RAM? What graphic card? Also I heard that MACS are alot fate than PCs and that it is possible to install Windows on them thus FS X what do you think? Trio and Quad cores will soon arrive as well so the Dual core will soon be obsolete...One final question about Joysticks... It seems that since the release of Microsoft's second Force Feedba…

When I bought my GeForce FX5600 card in 2003, it seemed that the AGP bus was the way to go.Since then, I have replaced my mobo with an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe, but I now want to upgrade my graphics card for a better FSX experience.I have heard that PCI Express is a better bus than AGP. OK, but does PCI Express require a special slot on the mobo? Does my ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe support a PCI Express graphics card, or am I stuck with the AGP bus?I have tried to find the answer in the ASUS manual, on the ASUS Forum and on this Forum, to no avail.- Jeff

Hi AllI've recently started playing FS2004 and I'm having problems with my new joystick. Basically what happens is whatever plane I'm flying the rudder always defaults to fully deflect to the right. As you can imagine, this makes flying pretty difficult. It's a bit of a strange one because the same joystick plugged into the same computer running FSX does not have this problem. Repeated calibrations and driver reinstalls have not helped, nor does enabling autorudder. If anyone has any ideas how to make my flying a less frustrating experience I'd be very grateful.Marc

Well, like many other folks, I had 1 gb dual channel ram and constantly tinkered with the display settings. Trying to reach "virvana". I Now have 2 GB GEIL PC3200 ram and OH MY GOD! What a differance! My load times went to 3 - 4 minutes down to 20 - 45 seconds. When I flew thru Las Vegas, I cached the scenery and was flying at 20-25 FPS with no stutters. Autogen maxed. I have installed all the tweeks and such that ar available here. Suffice it to say that if you want more bang for the buck... RAM is the ticket. Think RAM! THINK RAM! Just a note to all of you drooling over the new 880 cards. Odds are good you will need a new power supply. I have a new rig - just over 2 months old. 500 watt supply. But not near enough amps. The card requires 26 amps. Spent a good part of my weekdend figuring it out. Does anyone actually live near a Fry's. I always seem to be 45 minutes away...So, looking at a not inexpensive new juice box in addition to the card to get all DX10 and Vista ready. Plus the pain the butt factor of reconnecting all the wires. So, forewarned is forarmed. Save yourself a trip or two. Check on the amp requirements of the card you want, and then get it all in one trip. Colin

Interesting comment from vista team member's blog:We redesigned the memory manager in Windows Vista so that if you give the system more memory, it uses that memory much more efficiently than previous operating systems via a technique called SuperFetch -- part of Windows Vista's intelligent heuristic memory management system. And so Windows Vista on a PC with even more than 1 GB of primary memory (say 2 GB) will generally outperform Windows XP on that same machine -- especially once you have been using the machine for some time because Windows Vista learns what you do the most often and optimizes for this.scott s..
