You can see my post re upgrade opinions and Jaap questioned my AGP aperture. When I eventually found it (in the advanced BIOS) it was set at 32MB - did a bit reading on the forums and changed to 256MB and my blurries have gone! Obviously very worthwhile looking at. I will try and tweak some of my other settings now and see whether I can improve the fpsNigelVancouverMy System:AMD Athlon 64 3500+Gigabyte GA K8NS ULTRA-939 mobo ATI Radeon X800XL video card AGP 256MB (Omega drivers)2GB Kingston PC3200DDR RAMMaxtor 80GB 7200rpm hard driveMaxtor 200GB 7200rpm hard driveCreative Sound Blaster Live! with latest driversNEC FE950+ crt monitorCHProducts PCI yoke and pedalsWindows…

  2. I would like to upgrade my current system to run FSX better. As is evident on the forums, the upgrades required for FSX are comparatively more complicated (ie expensive) than many of the upgrades in the past, required for the different versions of FS. My current system seems to handle FSX reasonably well when away from the major airports and cities, but at these locations, fps drop drastically to a slide show and blurries abound! If you have an ATI card, you might have the catalyst control center. I am pretty sure you can cripple or make great gains not only with in game sliders, but these sliders as well. My question for you is.....Geometry Istancing?? There is a tick box for that in the catalyst contol center, is it good to tick or leave off for FSX? I have not tried with it off, and am not home at the moment. I do not really know what the heck it does....so Im not sure. Also if you could let me know your individual slider settings, that would be great, and MUCH appreciated. Just as a comparison. I will post mine when I get home.Danon - - ATI X800XL 256megger. I bought the Leadtek Winfast 7950GT TDH video card and whilst I am waiting for the Mother board (had to order it) I am thinking what drivers should I use. On the leadtek site there are already newer drivers for this board and it seems that Nvidea lately had also a new seet of drivers. What is the best way to go, downlaod the drivers from Leadtek or use the nvidea drivers.

Hi everyoneThis is probably a really stupid question, but:I'm probably not as serious about flight sim as everyone here is--i'm perfectly content to just play the default game w/o addons or anything. I bought FSX and of course i'm getting flower FPS than I'd like--would adding a new video card speed that up? Or what else could I do?Thanks to anyone who can help

Hi everybody, I just came across this German article about the future of EAX 3-4: http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/81212What ist basically says, is, that modern Creative hardware will be rendered usless with default Windows Vista, because Vista audio is routed differently. Meaning, onboard sound devices which fulfil the Vista requirements will be more than enough to generate Vista audio. Otherwise, it's certainly much too technical for me. Maybe 'The Musicians' amongst us know more? :-) And just to raise the subject in case somebody intends to buy a seperate soundcard and use Vista in the foreseeable future... It might be a non-dureable investment? Digging a wee bit…

Why does the "CPU usage" graph show 50%When the "CPU0" usage history" graph is at 99% or nearly flat lined way at the top of the graph?CPU1 runs about 10%It is like the scale is wrong for the history graph. You would think both graphs would show 50% about in the middle of the visible graph area. INTEL P4 HT

Hi All, Am loving FSX, but am finding it difficult to get the senstivity of the yoke and rudder setup well. It is way too 'twitchy' using the elevators and ailerons and the rudder is slow to react resulting in over compensating (usually too late) for taxiing. Takeoffs andf landings are just silly to control. Can someone post a screenie of their controls set up page and their realism settings please ? I have d/l the CH control manager - but haven't tried it yet as i don't understand if that takes control over the internal setup in FSX, if that makes sense ?I've done a search in the forum, but can't really find any setups to try other than tweaking individual cfg's. I have been experiencing fairly low frame rates while taxiing on the ground.I have generaly kept my res to 1024/768 at 32bit and the Scenery thresh hold to the reccomend settings. The card is an Nvidia 7600GS with 256mb of RAM. The machine is a dell xps 400/2800mhz machine with 2gb of RAM installed. I am not cofident that more physical RAM is the thing to do off the bat to improve the hardware situation. Would shelling out the cash for a faster GPU improve the situation or would even upgrading the CPUs speed be the way to go - or would that be a waste of money? I am geeting around 10 to 20 frames depending on altitude and complexity of the scenery loaded. FS9 works w…

Keep hearing that FSX demands a monster of a machine, even with the default planes and scenery. What happens when my "favorite" addons becomes FSX compatible? The one that demands a high end machine.Do I have the hardware for it(below)? Is it worth buying MS FSX or should I be happy with my FS9 setup which I'm happy with(planes and scenery), until I can afford a new machine?Best regards/

When setting the dual monitors up I get two options: wide screen = image spread over two monitors or clone where i get the same image on both monitors. In fact i wanted to use one for the cockpit and the other to undock lets say an overheadpanel or radio stack or whatver. This doesnt seem to function. Any help appreciatedEric

Hi.I'm running FS9 on a lowish end computer - AMD Athlon XP2000+, 789 RAM, and GeForce MX440 which I think is 64MB. I've got no complaints about this system in fine weather - I usually get about 24fps with scenery sliders at maximum - but it can't handle bad weather at all. I wonder if the weakest point is the graphics card, and I notice that there are a couple of cheap 256MB ones on the market - the Sapphire Radeon 9550 and 9250, and the XFX Geforce 6200A. Does anyone know (a) if any of these cards would improve my system, and (:( which one is better? Thanks in advance, haegri.

Hi,I'm new user of FSX, and I'm experiencing very strange behavior :The FR of the game is very, very, low, (I mean unusable) as long as I'm running on the floor (1 or 2 frame each 10sec !!).As soon as I succed to take off, the FR up to something almost playable (but still low), arround 5 frames per sec.If I land, at the moment the wheels touch the ground, the FR fall again. And this, despite all values, even if they are all on the lowest, this change nothing.BUT the strangest thing is that, one time (sniff), I don't know why, I launch the game and miracle ! all was perfectly smooth, fluent, beautiful. I change the parameter to alomst all to High, and it was still very con…

The last few days, I've been running FS with an XP system setting of'No page file'.I have two hardware profiles set up, one for normal use and one for FS9 with minimal services running. The procedure I have been using:1. Set the page file to none.2. Reboot with the FS9 profile.I assumed that the page file size applied to the entire system regardless of which profile is used and perhaps this confused the operating system.Anyway, what is happening is that my disk usage has gone from 69% free to 57% free in several days. I noticed this when defragging. The two green bars (system restores and page file) on the defrag screen look normal. What's eating up the drive are blue colo…

I want to upgrade my current video card, the BFG Tech GeForce 7800GTX 256MB to a 512MB card because I believe it will help with loading ground scenery and stutters. Hi fellow simmers,as a passionate FS9 flyer and nowadays owner of FSX, I start to get really desperated about the usability of FSX for me when reading all the discussions on the MS boards.I think it's no secret that FSX simply runs slow on the average Joe's PC right out of the box. The ACES team said that this was intentionally planned this way to guarantee the supposed lifespan of approximately three years.Normally, one would expect this to probably be true, hardware should get faster and faster in time, at least that's what I suppose most of the average Joes think. But taking into account what others already reported and wrote and what my experiences are, I soon started …

I was wondering if I should wait and get the dx10 card with around 800 of memory or should I get ATI cross fire cards both 512 so it would be 1024 of memory right. Which would be faster other than the dx10 card is capable of new DX technology. Does Fs work better with the crossfire is it like having double the graphics power? just wondering?http://www.flightfactory-simulations.com/h...B_testpilot.jpgAdam [email protected]
