Hello fellow simmers,I've downloaded and installed the new Nvidia drivers 158.19 but my FS9 looks horrible like the AA is not working (though I disabled it in FS and make it X16 in the Nvidia settings). So I reverted to the 97.94 but I've got the feeling I missed something in my settings.Does anyone can put in his favorite Nvidia settings from the Control Panel? The all list, so I will make sure I didn

This post only applies to the AMD Dual Core chips using Windows XP.There is an issue (bug) with Windows XP not efficiently utilizing the cores in the AMD Dual Core processors. Here is the skinny on that issue...."The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Du…

Folks, I am currently running a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 Motherboard.Looking on the Gigabyte site I find there are a number of upgrades to the BIOS for this board. As I have never upgraded a BIOS before, I am a little confused as to how Gigabyte list the upgrades. I am on F2 and the latest is F9. Do I just install F9 to bring me up to date? Fairly elementary question I know but I wonder why Gigabyte go to the trouble to provide a download for each upgrade which may infer that you have to flash each upgrade to bring the BIOS up to date.As an aside, I wonder where the F4 upgrade went to!!!Any assistance to what most likely is a pretty dumb question, would be appreciate…

I'm in the process of putting together my 'ultimate' FSX system. I'll be using E6600 or E6700, 2Gb fast memory, 10k Raptors, and a Striker Extreme Mobo. Although I realize that FSX is not as challenging to the graphics card as some other games, I want to make sure I don't skimp on performance. Then again, $$$ has a consideration. Does anyone have a recommendation on what graphics configuration would be best to consider: an 8800GTX, Sli'd lower performance GTX or GTS cards, or mortgage my house and go with Sli'd 8800GTX's? Real life performance experience would be helpful.

Hi Folks, Footage from the Call Of Juarez DX10 Benchmark, rendered with DX10 can be downloaded here (158MB):http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/431/17/Framerates were apparently really poor, with only low res 1280 x 1024 playable. But it is the first time I have seen actual footage from a DX10 game. Comparisons with DX9 are also available.Cheers,Noel.

Hello!I have a big problem with FSX. When i start a flight, the temperature of my video card goes up quite fast, and after a while the game locks up. Then the screen turns into idel mode. I turn the screen off and then on again, and now it says that there are no video input. Then i have to turn the computer off by pressing and holding the power button for a couple of seconds, and when I turn it on again, Windows does'nt start. I have to wait for a time before the computer can be turned on normally again.Im not absolutely sure, but I think that FSX is making my video card getting too hot for some reason. I have the latest drivers for the card, and SP1 too. I have done a co…

Hi folks,Some background: I am running FS2004 on XP with most things at max and lots of lovely scenery for Scandinavia and Finland where I do most of my simming with Blue1 Virtual. My machine is an overclocked AMD X2 4800+ (at 2.8GHz) with 2Gb RAM and an elderly but still excellent nVidia 6800GT 256Mb graphics card. It currently runs well but stutters when loading scenery plates which I'm fairly sure is because the drives are old IDE ATA ones. My this questions are as follows...(1) Do you agree that the drives are likely to be a bottleneck for FS use? I have to change one anyway but to upgrade or not is the question...(2) Can I "copy" my primary drive (80Gb) to a new one …

Hi all,I am using Nvidia's control panel to spread my screen view over two screens. This gives an image of twice the width of normal, obviously, given that both screens are of similar width/depth ratio. It works for VC, tower and spot view in all sims, but not in 2D without having a special panel, as the panel is spread to twice the width.Currently I run a 19" and a 17" LCD.... although the "step" between the two is acceptable, I am thinking of buying another 19" to improve this formatting. My question is.... can I mix a normal screen with a new wideview screen i.e. WIDER than 19", and still see proper perspective in the VC image? Or must they both have the same resolutio…

  14. I see posts of folks that are running more than two monitors with 8800GTX cards. I am afraid I am going to have to tuck my tail between my legs and ask for some help from anyone having success with such a configuration. How do you get a system to recognize the second 8800GTX card? I am running in the non SLI mode and thus far have found no way to get recognition by Windows that I have the second card, along with the third and fourth monitors. I have removed the drivers, cleaned house, reinstalled the latest drivers, and switched cards. The two monitors off of the primary card work fine, but I never see anything off of the second card. If you haven't updated DirectX 9.0c lately, try this. It might help with SP1 stuttering:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...00-F0FB2A71E99FThis was suggested by Don Burnette on another forum. It may have been mentioned here, too, but if so I missed it. NB: create a system restore point before you install the update; DirectX updates can't be uninstalled. My experience:1. First flight with SP1 was good: everything felt smoother. Didn't play with settings at all.2. Day two: I increase autogen from Normal to Dense. Cool! But I notice more blurries and stuttering. Frustration! System restore back to pre-SP1: stuttering is gone, so I reason that it's a consequence of S…

My nVidia card crapped out this week.I wasn't about to update my whole system just yet, so I went looking for an AGP replacement. The ONLY one I could find around here was an ATI Radeon 9550.It installed fine (XP professional), BUT.......for whatever reason, I find FS2004 is too dark. With the nVidia, I had cranked up the brightness and gamma, and it was fine. With the RADEON, when I crank up the brightness and gamma, the splash screen for FS2004 comes up "bright", but when it finally gets into the sim, it reverts to "dark". It flickers bright only when I click the mouse, or hit the ALT key, but always reverts to its standard dark.Is there some trick to get FS2004 to be…
