I’ve been shopping for an upgrade for my workstation while i came across this, at first i poopoo'd it as id usually do with this line of workstations; but this one... this one is different! for some reason (later will be obvious) it caught my attention; at first i started to notice the very odd design, under the hood even more strange; but there was something about it i can’t explain, i kept on investigating; under the hood there top of the line Xeon CPU processor (they vary in cores from 4 to 12 each), ram specks out the roof at 64GB 1866Ghz, M2 SSD with up to 1gb per second read write! my jaw dropped as i read these specs; i couldn’t believe what i was reading at first,…

I have an i7 4790K CPU that runs at 4 Ghz, However, when I run FSX, the speed drops all the way down to between 1.6 and 2.6 Ghz. It runs at 4Ghz or more for all my other applications. I can't figure out why I do not get 4 ghz using FSX. Does anyone else have this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have my 4790k running at 4ghz all the time i disabled speedstep and checked the performance tab in windows. But even though its at 4ghz i dont feel like im getting all the speed. Youtube is laggy and other sites as well their not smooth like their suppose to be. For example their not smooth like the computers at best buy and those computers have weaker cpus. The only thing ive noticed is that right after an intense gaming session i go to the internet and everything is fluid, then after a couple minutes it starts slowing down and becoming laggy again. I feel like it should be fluid all the time with a cpu like mine

I just had my 3rd order from Alienware pushed back considerably or been instructed to cancel the order and reorder another unit since the beginning of October. They will not tell me what parts are not available and are causing the problem. Initially I ordered a 15" followed by another 15" when instructed to cancel the first one. Then when the 2nd one ran int delivery problems they offered a 17" for a good price so once again I bit. The reason for the 17" was I was assured there would be no delivery problems with a 17". Then last night comes another email that they are again backing off delivery 2 months. Last night On the phone on hold for the better part of an hour only …

Does anybody know of a way to make a usb number pad behave like the top numbers on a keyboard. I would like to use one for responding to fsx atc and gsx. Out the box it just replicates the right hand number pad, which I suppose it's meant to. Many thanks Roy

Not sure what this means, but Microsoft today announced that they're really, really desperate to get people to move to Windows 10: http://www.winbeta.org/news/microsoft-clarifies-support-for-silicon-innovations-enterprises-and-the-best-windows-10-experience See the original post on their blog here: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/01/15/windows-10-embracing-silicon-innovation/ According to them, Windows 7 and even 8.1 are too old to even fully support and take advantage of Skylake. In addition, Skylake apparently won't be supported past July 17, 2017 on W7 or W8.1 systems. Your thoughts?

I have a pretty decent system in terms of CPU/Mobo/RAM: i7 4790K Asus Maximus Hero VII 16GB G.skill Trident X 2400 DDR3 I'm thinking about upgrading an older machine, which has an older Phenom processor, and getting another Intel system. Looking for knowledgable folks that might be able to explain just what improvements the newer processors have over my 4790K, in two specific areas: - Simming (FSX/P3D/X-Plane) - Gaming in general Reason is because as I look at newer models, I don't see exactly why they would be a better option than just getting another of the ones I have.... Newer processors with lower base frequency (like 3.5Ghz or even 3Ghz), sam…

My system is as follows: AMD Phenom ii 1090T 3.2ghz 16GB ram Nvidia 460GTX 1GB I get some pretty scary slow FPS if I load up orbx regions. Under 10fps low to the ground. If only running orbx global they stay acceptable at 20-30. My question is as follows: Would upgrading my GPU, for now, help with FPS? My cpu and ram monitor shows those as never really being over 40% but I don't have a GPU monitor. I'd love to build a new rig but I don't think it's in the cards just yet (unless tax returns are monstrous which I don't anticipate). If a current graphics card would help me out I might be able to swing that until I could build a new rig. What do you t…

Gentleman, I upgraded to a GIGABYTE GTX 970 G1 GAMING graphics card. My question, which driver should I use? Should I use the one from the GIGABYTE website, which is currently version 353.62 or, can I download the drivers directly from NVIDIA, which is 361.43. Personally, I would imagine that NVIDIA is better, but I am unsure if someone may have experienced any issues with this? Thank you for your assistance.

Hello, I currently am running a A6-3670K APU with a Radeon 4850 HD GPU. I know that both of these components are outdated. I have many addons such as FTX Global, ASN, Aerosoft Airbus, PMDG 737, REX, and various airports. I am getting about 10 fps sitting on the ground at FSDreamTeam DFW. I am looking to upgrade my processor to an I5 and my GPU to a current card. What is the best value I5 that would run FSX smoothly? I don't need 80 fps, just trying to get it up to about 25-30. Thanks!

Hi hope someone can shed some light or point me in a direction for a bit of help on this problem that seems to have not long started. with my flightsims I keep getting a bluescreen with the bug code ending in 124 it appears that the driver hal.dll caused the problem and caused by address hal.dll+12a3b. It seems also that ntoskrnl.exe may be playing a part as using bluescreen view highlights this in red. I tried an experiment using both fsx and p3d from same airport same runway and same aircraft and it happens at almost the same point every time. I am using Orbx global, is it possible that this may cause the problem as the scenery is ran on both systems. Kind of …

An acquaintance of very limited funds is being given the opportunity to buy an upgrading friend's 3 year old self-built Windows 7 PC for a good price. The PC ran well for a couple of weeks, but then started to crash at random times, and checkdisk, scan disk or defrag operations all fail to complete and cause a crash. There are no Windows disks or recovery disks. Apparently the friend had a computer shop install Windows 7 for him directly on the hard disk and no DVDs were provided. There is a 36GB partition on the HD called "System Reserved" - not sure what is on it. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Can we somehow get the OS transferred to a new HD, as i…

I turn the pc on in the morning for my graphic work and after 5 min it shuts down,,no blue screen, no messages, just instant off and black screen. I can then turn it back on and it is fine for the rest of the day with no more shut downs. I have had some memory problems and had to remove a pair of ddr4 sticks leaving two sticks of 4 gig each left to run win 10. I have some new ram coming to get back to my 16 gig normal but for now 8 is it. I don't think that is causing my new problem though. A mystery for sure.

Ok this error is driving me nuts. For the past 2 months i have tried everything from google search and following recommended solutions. My MB is an ASUS Z87-A and i've been using driver updater pro to update all my drivers! I'm running the latest BIOS from ASUS Z87-A support site. I have returned my BIOS to default so no OC and still receive this error. Anyone got a magic bullet solution? Maybe wipe my MB and reinstall all drivers from my CD i got with my MB? Its happening on 3 of my hardware stuff i have plugged in. Jetmax TQ 737 throttle, turtle beach headset and my wifi dongle. It happens randomly one day it will be my headset etc. But not all at once thoug…

Focus of this PC will be P3D with some XP10. I'm not sure what I'll do with my now 3+ year old PC (3960X) yet, maybe sell parts of it maybe just keep it for my development work. Anyway, thought I'd layout my progress and see where this 5960X adventure takes me ... goal will be quiet computing with moderate goals of 4.5-4.8 Ghz CPU @ 3300Mhz RAM. The Asus RAMPAGE V and i7 5960X arrived today (warning large image): I'm still researching for memory but I think I've settled on G.Skill DDR4 3300Mhz in 16GB as I've heard it is more stable than the 32GB option. This stuff: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231807&cm_re=g.skill_ddr…

Hi, Just started piecing my new system together (still waiting on CPU) and all seemed fine until I was turning the case around and accidentally flipped the power switch on the PSU. It appears that it popped a breaker in the fuse box as the TV and other socketed items went off. I disconnected the cable and reset the fuse box. Had a friend who has built a couple of PC's in the past come round today to take a look. He said everything seems OK and was as stumped as me as to the cause. Is anyone able to shed any light as to what may have happened? Thanks
